  1. Color looks at home on the Charger. I'm spooked by candies, but need to try it anyway.
  2. Interesting project. I always did like the older El Camino, the '58 being my favorite and a bucket list item for me.
  3. I'm with you, go full fendered, for sure.
  4. Nice! That's something I've wanted to do for quite a while myself, modeling a real car from my past.
  5. Engine looks just great. I need to learn how to to do that one of these days.
  6. And now with the lighter Tamiya XF-72 applied, i think it looks pretty decent, though I'll need to touch up the darker brown a bit here and there. Thoughts?
  7. I should have clear coated all of this darker brown prior to masking, but completely forgot. A rubber glove protected the paint from scratching before I masked though.
  8. I'm rather surprised by this kit. While a floor stick shift and parking brake are provided, there's no indication of where they are to be mounted. Also, there are no window cranks, door latches or arm rests,... none.
  9. All interior glass now polished up. Rear window unit looks great, but windshield itself appears to still have some minor scratches, possibly indicating that my polishing cloth needs to go in the washer.
  10. Interior given the first of two brown colors (Tamiya XF-64).
  11. All chassis chrome parts now completely stripped bare. I have no idea if I'll use all this stuff or not.
  12. Having just botched a '70 Challenger that I had been working on, making it useless for an upcoming competition, I intend to get cranking on this baby tonight.
  13. I must say that there’s been a steep learning curve here for me, but on the plus side, I feel that I’ve learned a lot with this project. Here I’ve airbrushed some more blue on the rear passenger side, as I had polished right through the clear coat, paint and into the white primer, and in several spots too. Naturally enough, I now have a darker patch of blue in this location. This now absolutely knocks out any chance of this going into a competition, but I’ll finish it regardless, then just take photos of the driver side, front and rear. (It seems like the more I mess with this car, the worse it’s getting.) I will not be making all of these errors in the future, trust me, as I’ve been making prodigious notes regarding this effort; what went wrong, what went right, and why.
  14. Nice! Yes, Gofer and Slixx are both sold my Model Roundup, so I was aware of those too.
  15. Hood given a coat of black acrylic and once again, looks terrible. I'll strip it again and see if I can figure it all out. I have the annoying feeling that this car won't be finished by Sunday, despite all my best efforts.
  16. Thanks. I want to do a generic gasser, probably a '33 or '41 Willys, so this information will come in handy.
  17. I see a lot of Gofer gasser decal sheets. Are these designed for real (existing or past) cars, or just names that are arbitrarily cobbled together for the modeler to choose from? Thanks a bunch,
  18. OK, a scrap hood was sacrificed for this experiment. Painted and clear coated (with Testors lacquers, and no prep at all), then a patch of BMF applied and burnished. I'll give this a couple of days, then see if the Goo Gone has any affect at all on the lacquer, and I'm betting it will not.
