  1. Managed to get my decals on last night, minus the carbon fiber for the two spoilers. Still waiting on that to get here. Also still have to install the mirrors, probably going to put those on last to keep from breaking them off. I also detailed the underside of the chassis/exhaust/hot side of the turbo and under the hood.
  2. Thanks Tom! Got a little more left to do on it before it goes Underglass. But I am extremely satisfied with the paint on this. Scalefinishes knocked it out of the park on this factory Toyota color. This is probably one of my best paint jobs...not bad for my 2nd time using an airbrush
  3. I bet you guys thought I had fallen off of the face of the earth, lol. I'm back after a long time away from the bench due to my 1:1 taking priority. Headgasket started weeping water under boost (31psi for 7 years on stock head bolts, what could I expect, lol.) So the past months have went to working on this, and getting it dialed in and small minor stuff. I'll include pics of it Anyways, let's get to what we are all here for, lol. I'm almost done with the Supra. There weren't many pictures to take of it after where I left off. I had to custom make an exhaust which is scaled to a 4" since it's running a big single turbo setup. I also wrapped the downpipe to make it look like it had heat wrap on it. Go easy on me on the lines, this is my first time running brake lines/fuel lines. I still have to detail the exhaust and the bottom side of the chassis as well as the engine compartment. Also, I still have to put the mirrors and the wing on. In these pics, the wing is just sat on so that's why there is a gap. I am waiting on my scalemotorsports carbon fiber decals to get here to do the rear wing and front lip. I quickly threw some white fabric on the bench and snapped the last few pics with my phone.
  4. Awesome build! Love this color, would like to paint my 70 SS Monte Carlo this color. What is the name/brand?? Looks close to Safari Yellow? I bought this same kit 2 weekends ago at AC Moore using a 55% off coupon, lol. Plan on painting my Copo this Green Mist Metallic.
  5. Looks awesome slammed on the rallies with the LS motor....reminds me of my stalled out project. A 55 Cameo pro-touring truck. Tamiya Clear Orange Over Tamiya Mica Silver, with a SSR engine and seats.
  6. Alright guys, nobody here knows, but I collect Oakley Sunglasses ....on top of all of my other hobbies, lol. I found something that I'd love to build to put in my collection of my Oakley's. Oakley Headquarters had a Russian BMP-1 Tank that they logo'd up and used for demos and promos etc. Someone on the Oakley forum that I'm a member of builds them and sells them...for a crazy retarded price. Knowing that I've never built a tank, but I'm sure I can build it, I am not going to pay his price. So, I did some digging and I think I found the correct kit (which he wouldn't tell me what it is) and some pics of the actual tank for reference. I've never built a tank before, nor have I printed my own decals out. I'd love to build this sucker up and put it in my display case with all my sunglasses. So I turn to you fellas that will help anyone out, unlike the guy over on the Oakley forum, lol. Could someone possibly take the graphics that are on this tank and scale them down for a 1/35 tank model size? I'll be more than happy to reimburse you for your troubles. I will attach pics of the tank, his model, and the actual kit which I believe is correct. The skull is also what should be on the port covers. Also attached is my collection as of now. Thanks in advance! Scott
  7. Stalled out due to my 1:1 go fast car, needing a head gasket resulting in mods that weren't needed but done anyways because it was apart, lol. Started this in February, crappy thing is, I could probably take a couple of days to a week and finish it and have it looking schweet. I'll get back started as soon as I get finished getting my 1:1 dyno tuned. And I started this one in Christmas of 2015, and got pissed off at it with some fitment issues, so I started the Supra....again, probably could spend a week and be finished with it.
  8. This build is so awesome! Extremely clean and a lot going on. Love it man.
  9. Managed to get a little bit done yesterday evening. I decided to airbrush all of the wheel wells semi gloss black so it would look correct. Also, I got all of the suspension minus the brakes in place, and I got the fuel lines ran and secured to the chassis. I also completed the headlights to look like the 98 models.
  10. This being my first one I am definitely going to be a returning customer. The results are awesome!
  11. Got all the black trim on the body and undercarriage (minus the driveshaft and support plate) finished up yesterday. I love the airbrush for this, no bleed through on any of the taped areas. I brushed the headlight areas to be completed tonight with chrome in the bulb areas. Also did the tail lights as well.
  12. Didn't know that...but, seeing how I got awesome results in waiting 2 days after shooting the clear I'll stick to that method from now on. I didn't really have to as it was really smooth, but some areas had some orange peel, so I went ahead and sanded the whole body with 2000 grit and polished it accordingly.
  13. Thanks! Not bad for my first real airbrush paint job right? Thanks man! Just a mini version of a 1:1...I detail cars and have used a large combo of rotary and DA polishers on them...had to bust out the Adam's machine polish because the Meguiar's wasn't taking out all of the fine scratches from sanding. Made 1 pass over the passenger door and my light scratches were gone, where Meguiar's ultimate didn't take it out after numerous passes. Guess that is what a better product will do for you. Thanks a lot! Love Scalefinishes paint now! Hated to have to let so much 2k clear go to waste but next time I'll shoot all my projects at once to avoid this.
  14. Well, here are my results from using 2000 grit, and Meguiar's Scratch X coupled with a polishing cloth on my Dremel. Still have to use Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and a Glaze from Adam's Polishes. This ONLY has Scratch X applied, and the shine is awesome!
  15. So I got the body wet sanded and polished with Meguiar's Scratch X yesterday. Still have to go over it with Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and a good Glaze from Adam's Polishes. Used a cotton polishing wheel on my dremel for the ultimate shine and couldn't be more pleased! I'll let the pictures do the talking.
  16. I let my Tamiya stuff sit for a week before handling...this is a lot different I guess? This is straight from Scalefinishes website, scroll all the way to the bottom for the clearcoat application guides. "2013 CLEARCOAT Scalefinishes clearcoat is an automotive grade high gloss Acrylic enamel. If further thinning is required, Thin with Scalefinishes Enamel reducer. Air pressures will vary with different airbrushes, painting styles and temperature. I recommend around 20PSI as a starting point. APPLICATION 1. Apply in a continuous medium coat, until the paint has built up enough to be glossy (3-4 layers). 2. Can be handled safely after 24 hours. BUFFING If necessary, wet sand with 1500 or finer grit paper after 24 hours and polish. Buff with the appropriate compound after 48 hours. Buffing is easiest when done within the first 72 hours following application."
  17. Thanks Ed, I shot him an email before I posted this thread up. May be a while before I hear from him. I'm trying to catch this on the 72 hr window to polish as the clear will probably be a pain to polish after that mark due to hardening even more.
  18. Love the rallies on this car. I have a 67 coupe that is calling me in my stash.
  19. Hey guys, I couldn't really find what I was looking for when I searched for this. I'm a first time ScaleFinishes user, and their paint/clear is awesome! I sprayed my first body without an issue. My 2k clear has leveled out every nicely, but still needs very minimal polishing. My question for you ScaleFinishes users is, what compounds/polishes seem to work the best with the 2k clear? Do you recommend wet sanding with 2000 grit and finer, then using something like Meguiar's Scratch X and a Carnuba? My orange peel is very minimal, and with TS clear I never had to wet sand. I know that Tamiya compounds/polishes work awesome with the TS-13 combo however. Also can someone point me in the direction of where to find a polishing wheel such as the one in this video to use with my dremel..... Any tips are appreciated, and here is a pic of the freshly painted/cleared MK4 Supra.
  20. Thanks guys! I couldn't be more happy with the quality of the paint job on this car.
  21. Not yet, that will be a battle within itself, I'm sure, lol.
  22. Looking awesome man! What did you use for the cloth interior? I need to steal the idea for an under the hood mat for my Supra build.
  23. Finally an update, lol. I haven't done anything on the Supra in a while due to some other things that took priority at home.....then all last week having the Flu. Finally feeling better Saturday night and Sunday I got some work done. Here is a final pic of the seats fixed with styrene sheets, some rod for the hole up top, and some putty to make it look good. Interior is painted and flocked. Not much detail to the dash....I really want some gauge pods. Anyone know where I can get some for 1/24 scale? Here is the paint from ScaleFinishes. This stuff went down so easy, I wonder why I haven't used an airbrush until now! What is everyone using to polish the ScaleFinishes clear with? It went on amazingly, but I want it to be even slicker. I also made a catch can, still have to paint the styrene to simulate the airfilter, and the beads for the A/N fittings.
