You should go for it, would be a good project. Edited March 29, 2018 by afx
afx
Still have to apply BMF around the window frames but here is finished paint. I sanded the paint back to give it a sun beaten finish with a few subtle thin spots.
Snake45
Your door lines look good. Did you use any particular technique on them?

afx
Thanks guys. On the panel lines I cleaned them up and deepened them. No detail painting there just the natural shadow.

Belair2k
That came out looking great. I like your workmanship too. The only thing I'd change is the front wheels. I like the 12 spokes. I like your build so much I started looking for a Trumpeter kit online. Wow, they are expensive. I've never spent that much on a kit. Do you think that kit is worth the $$$? What's next? btw is that AFX like in HO racing?

Yes “AFX” is reference to the Aurora slot cars, I’ve loved them since I was a kid. As for the Trumpeter kit, there are usable parts in the box but be prepared to put effort into it if you chose to build it. For instance: While the chassis worked great on my ‘61 gasser, it’s a very poor example of the 1:1 chassis. I used a Revellogram Mustang chassis on my ’64 Trans-Am build. I hate the body out of the box, but with work it can be turned into something. I reworked the body for my T/A build. STYRENE-SURFER
J.C. What a great looking Falcon. Just an idea but wondering if you thought about doing some weathering on it. Maybe some oil stains and grime perhaps some imperfections or ware marks on the body. Just a thought, it looks so cleanSeriously Its fantastic! afx
Thanks James. Kurt, she's off the trailer clean for a weekend of racing. I did do some subtle thin/wear spots on the paint, they are more obvious in person. I've never attempted serious weathering but would like to learn those techniques. Codi
Your builds are always so cleanly executed JC. This one is no exception........really nice sir. I almost dropped you a note to offer to machine that air cleaner you had on the car out of aluminum and I'm sorry I didn't. The scoop is perfect for the car but I'm wondering what the air cleaner would have looked like in metal subtly poking through the hood. I'm so far behind on the Bantam that it's probably better regardless. Congrats on a beautiful build. Now what you have sitting on deck is one of my favorite Fords of all time, will certainly follow along to see where you take it. Cheers, Tim
