40 mercury sedan conversion

Recommended Posts

picked up a matrange resin body because i needed to make a grille from it for last merc build. was trying to decide if i wanted to make it into a sedan or a coupe. coupe roof is very different than ford but not as attractive.  so  matranga resin body mated with a 39 ford sedan body. made front fenders longer because merc was visible wider than ford. altered front of rear fender little, and reshaped back window little. want to take the skirts off and put a well like real pic.  thanx

I really like where this is headed - the Merc has a lot of subtle differences from the Ford, but you're getting them!

Oh yeah! This is shaping up nicely. You are combining two of my favorites- the Merc and a 39 sedan. Perfect!

I'm really enjoying watching your body conversion work on this and other models, Glen.  That Merc has already got the right amount of "fatness" about it.  Are you going to make the neat little barrel style taillights that they had originally?

Cheers

Alan

Very interesting conversion. Clever to ad those little fender and side panel extensions.

so i removed skirts and made wheel rear wheel wells. decided to cut hood off. will use the 39 ford sedan interior, and a 66 nova chassis trimed to fit and engine. had to move front axle forward to fit wheel well.  now trying to decide weather to cast some of my projects this time before i get into finishing them. dont know if there would be enough interest in my interests.
