keyser
That seems reasonable. AWB 65 Chevelle and 64 Cutlass easily can use same chassis off clone. Did @Mark or @tim boyd mention one of the Pro Stocks was not possible? Im still hoping for one of the factory show cars.

From rewatching HPI Guy's Falcon and Nova AWB build videos, they appear to use very similar chassis setups, plastic tires and all. I wonder if that same AWB chassis was used under the original Streaker kit. The chassis for the Streaker kit was shared with the '65 Malibu and '58 Edsel kits. Similar in design to the Nova kit, but different in shape and size.
Raoul Ross
Looking at the frame in this 'modest' ebay listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/203708050945?hash=item2f6df22e01:g:0a8AAOSwao5hmVz0 , I recognize that frame is also in the Mustang Funny car. Actually a not very accurate round tube frame. Edited August 8, 2022 by Raoul Ross
stavanzer
I suspect that the Original "Hanger Shot" that started this whole adventure had the Altered Wheelbase Body from the Streaker on it. Round2 Might re-create the Chevelle/Edsel Chassis, or just use the one in the Mustang with some kind of "Newly Tooled" parts hack to make the body and chassis work together now, even if it is not quite how it worked in the OG kit. We will know eventually.

Looks like the Olds Streaker is fait accompli. Well done, gentlemen.
Raoul Ross
I think it's also in the Nova Twister/Rat Packer and the '63 Tempest, all labeled as 'Funny Car'.
stavanzer
Here are a bunch of the Cars with those Chassis. I cannot find Directions for the Streaker itself. You can see that AMT used a similar Chassis with two different Front Axle configurations. One with tiny leaf springs, and one without. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-1958-edsel-unre/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-1965-afx-falcon/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-chevy-ii-funny-/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-mercury-psyclon/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-mustang-high-ro/?view=roll https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-super-boss-funn/?view=roll These are all very simple kits. Fun to build, but not really accurate or very detailed. You can see that the engines and other parts are sort of 'Mixed & Matched', with Injected and blown engines put in kits with no real plan. I really like these kits, and have several of them. The Streaker or the '65 Chevelle would be Awesome to have back.

stavanzer
Yeah, Raoul, it is. I believe that these kits date back to AMT's "Bad Old Days" when they needed to produce new kits to sell, without having the budget for new tooling. Hence, they scrounged bodies from their Tool Bank, added the generic tube chassis and hopped up engines, plus decals, and had "New" kits to sell for a comparatively small outlay for tooling. I believe that this helps to explain the clearly 'Ad Hoc' nature of the kits. They look 'thrown together' because they were Thrown Together....... Meant for the kits and teens who were the major market at the time, they did not have to be right as much as be "Cool". And they were, as the series continued for quite some time, apparently. At least, the above is my theory. I could be completely wrong. John Mueller, Dennis Doty and Tim Boyd, along with other who know more can probably give much better answers. The pic is on the Round2 Website in their blog and over 10 years old by now. It might be in one of the threads discussing the '64 Olds convertible kit, when it was first confirmed. I am not Autist enough tonight to read them all and look it up. Normally I would but It's been a 60 Hour weekend, and I'm toasted..... Mark
Those chassis were probably designed that way so that the parts could be interchanged between cars by builders. Use the front section from the Mustang or Falcon chassis if you are trying to replicate a Chevelle or Nova that had a cross spring setup. Cut the chassis and lengthen it with pieces of parts trees if you want the wheelbase closer to stock, to match a particular 1:1 car. The interiors are simple too, they can be altered if you "un-shorten" the wheelbase on any of them. Swap the blower from the Chevelle onto the Nova if you want a different setup. I haven't tried it, but I'd bet that, for example, the Barracuda body might drop onto the Mustang's interior and chassis if you don't want a mid-engine 'Cuda. (You'd have to move the rear wheel openings on the body, or mess with the chassis.) If not a perfect fit, a piece of sheet plastic here and there might make the interior look like it belongs.

You cannot build just one. The Model King Tempests have gotten Stupid Expensive online, but there are lots of them out there, and if you don't mind making up your own paint and decals, you can turn out tons of these simple , Fun kits. They are fun!
