Similar to the irked and pleased threads but this one is for shocking things. For example the thing that shocked me today was it would be cheaper for me to fly to america for the weekend than to get 6 squirty bottles of las totally awesome cleaner delivered. £1186 for delivery when a seat on the plane is £1162. So what shocked you? it doesn't have to be sticker shock

That my wife’s car ran at all with battery terminals like this (and that random disconnected wire on the positive side…I wonder what that should power?)

Glad I popped the plastic covers off to take a look…of course, once I’d SEEN it, I had to FIX it 🙄

Seeing this recent picture of Gene Hackman,I guess for lack of a better word, shocked 😱 me.I’m a huge fan of his, from of course [The French Connection, and The Poseidon Adventure], along with a lot of his other movie credits.Just sad,but then again he is 92.

I wanted to kill Frog1 so bad. Let's not forget Hackman as the blind man in Young Frankenstein.

As a side note, the actors/actresses that shock me are the ones that feel the need to get plastic surgery and they're hardly recognizable anymore.

Oh yea,I forgot all about Young Frankenstein.Certainly one of the funniest movies ever. And I agree, seeing celebrities with horrible plastic surgery can be pretty shocking.😱

"I was going to make espresso". That line was an ad-lib by Hackman and Brooks liked it so much, he left it in the final cut. Hackman wanted to do comedy so bad that he said he'd do Young Frankenstein for nothing. I bet he was paid though. He was hilarious. At 78, I look a lot older than he does. He looks great.

I walked into a local small Hardware Store to see if the store had any Pledge Floor Shine (Future) I could purchase for model use.  I saw a brand new Flexible Flyer sled (5 ft. length?) and immediate memories of snowy days spent sliding down the hills near my childhood neighborhood came to mind. Ambled over to get a better look at the sled... and just about fell over when I read the price tag. $119.99 !!!  Now that really did shock me to say the least. And the store didn't have any of the Pledge Floor Shine either.

I don't know.  We pay $40 for small plastic kits. Have you looked at the gas prices,  your grocery or utility bills? The brand name $120 5' sled doesn't seem all that unreasonable.  It is probably made in China . . .

I tried to google 1965 Flexible Flyer prices. All google wanted to tell me was the current day value of vintage Flexible Flyers.

So I got creative and googled "vintage Flexible Flyer ad." Now we're getting somewhere! First one I clicked was a 1960 ad which had all sorts of models and legths listed from $10 to about $32. On to my favorite web inflation calculator, which only goes up to 2021. It told me:

What cost $10 in 1960 would cost $94.80 in 2021.

Suddenly $120 in 2022 dollars doesn't sound all that bad, does it? ;)
