happy grumpy Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 A nice kit that builds really nice without major issues. The color is custom mix of Tamiya acrylics and coated with Mr hobby gloss clear which is very similar to TS13. Built stock, but to me it looks like it's sitting a little high. I used the kit tires but they seem a little big to me. Any one who knows, please chime in. Otherwise I am pleased with the results. A non event, smooth and enjoyable build . I did not lose any hair left on this one. Thanks for looking. 7
espo Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 Great looking paint work and clean looking body trim. You're right about the stance, a little like a Super Stocker from the day. Might relook at the front spindles to see if they may be switched from side to side.
satterwhite78 Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 You're right, it is a great kit for having built one.....same color with the dog dish caps, but with black rims! Like yours better! Does look like it's sitting a little high but that 421 ci behemoth under the hood isn't no lightweight. The stance itself gives the vibe of not to be fooled with....
Rattlecan Dan Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Some awfully heavy-duty shocks, but a nice build and laid-back color. Good job.
bisc63 Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Great choice of color. This car, in spite of its size, has a real "muscle car" look about it, and the stance you've given yours enhances that vibe! Really well done.
Nicholas Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 its ben a while since i built one but if i remember they tend to sit high,i have one in the works but not that far along for suspension,...on a off topic question where do you get the backdrops for the model pics? i see it a lot on here with peoples finished models, looks like a dealership or garage?...looks very cool!
Zippi Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Nice looking Pontiac Catalina Mario and I like the color. I have the 61 with the yellow box art.
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Beautiful build! I just picked up one of these myself, a couple of weeks ago. It almost looks like it has a "Gasser" stance to it.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I was 11 yrs old when the 62 Catalina came out and a lot of the cars sat a little high. Super build! Going to have to get busy and build mine.

Thank you Nicholas. Both backgrounds are scratch built. The garage one sits right beneath my TV. On 5/31/2023 at 7:52 AM, Zippi said: Nice looking Pontiac Catalina Mario and I like the color. Thanks Robert. I wasn't sure about the ride height but a qwick search on google shows some are sitting high. Choice of wheel and tires I suppose. 3 hours ago, ewetwo said: Really nicely built. great color. Thanks David 1 hour ago, crazyjim said: Very nice build and I agree that it sits too high. Thanks Jim.
1959scudetto Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Nice model , Mario as is your trademark - the car looks a bit like It's been souped up as a traffic light street racer back in the day - but the box art pic of the real one sits also a bit high and sports wider rear tires (cheater slicks?)
TransAmMike Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Another great looking build from you Mario, I love the big Pontiacs!! ?
ncbuckeye67 Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 I hope this is OK, I have an answer in relation to the backdrop question. There are several choices on Etsy, from printed paper garage scenes, to full on dioramas with 3d printed accessories. I also found some on Amazon (?) like this one.
