youpey Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 (edited) doordash support is either over generous or terrible. there was a coupon code that said 5 dollars off for members until 6/30. i put all the stuff in my cart, and now i cant find that order code on the site. the whole image with the codes disappeared from the page i contacted support and he told me that they cant help me and i need to get the code from the image...that is no longer showing up on the page. i cancelled my membership on the spot. im so tired of bad customer service. besides, without the coupon, doordash is too expensive with the fees and higher prices on every menu item. i found that the place by my house, my order is 12 dollars and change if i call them and place the order and pick it up. if i do it through doordash, the same order is 18 dollars, before the tip Edited June 24, 2021 by youpey
Fat Brian Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 The main website I used for reference pics for many projects I have shut down unexpectedly. I have some pics saved but I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do now.

I do think there is a segment of the population that will stick to ordering out instead of going to a restaurant, just a question of how big it will be.
Tom Geiger Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 I’ve never used a Door Dash or other delivery service. I even go pick up my pizza. My father always said if you’re too lazy to cook, you can at least go get it! 1

Mark Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 $25 for breakfast? I should be able to remember the times I paid $25 for dinner, that's how many times that has happened...

At some point, I will start going back to restaurants. I have started going back to the grocery, instead of getting groceries delivered. I still use DoorDash and Grubhub occasionally, but not as much as last year. I've had mixed experiences w/ Doordash---it seems in the last 6 months the number of mistakes I've had has gone up...not sure if it's with the restaurants or in how the order is communicated. I don't mind going out and picking up food in nice weather, but the delivery is great in the winter...
crazyjim Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 We've never used those delivery services and no intention of doing so. We go out to eat every Saturday night and do grocery shopping in the local stores.

Through the worst of the pandemic I did go to the grocery store once a week. We cooked our own food because we knew the full impact of the virus was yet to be discovered. I didn't want to catch it from a restaurant cook. We've gone out to restaurants a few times since all the mandates have been lifted but overall are being careful. We are fully vaccinated. Still, ya never know what will happen next! 1

Yeah. we've been fully vaccinated since early April. But taking it slow and easy to get back to 'normal'.
youpey Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 i woke up with the worst headache of my life. i am really hopeful that the advil helps.

I agree as I always pick up my "carry outs" because if I don't and have it delivered I don't know if I'm the first delivery or the last and I imagine that the last delivery isn't too hot by the time they deliver it to me.
TonyK Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Last night while watching the SRX series race our local channel cut in with "Breaking News" to tell us it's hot. First of all, I hate the over-used "Breaking News" title because it isn't. If a freeway is shutdown or a major incident is causing a problem for the public and it can inform us of this; fine. But most of us have cell phones that can instantly tell us the temp or we can just step outside and know it's hot. I emailed the station this morning with my complaint and told them I won't be watching their news coverage in the future.
Tom Geiger Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 (edited) Weekend drivers! Every Saturday and Sunday it’s amateur day in the NJ and PA Turnpikes. Especially last weekend for Father’s Day they were out there! People driving 50-60 miles an hour out in the passing lanes holding everyone up. It just clogs up everything! PA Turnpike speed limit is 70 in my area. Last night on our way home we were dodging slow pokes all the way home. When we see the sign that it’s one mile to our exit we get in the slow lane. We wound up behind a guy who must’ve taken his foot off the gas at that point. The line of traffic slowed down progressively, he must’ve been going 45 by the time we hit the ramp. There was a car coming up rapidly behind me and I feared I was going to get rear ended. He hit his brakes hard! Did the clown think he was driving a train or ship.. braking a mile ahead? It wouldn’t have been the first time I witnessed an idiot cause an accident but toddle off unaffected! Edited June 27, 2021 by Tom Geiger

It wouldn’t have been the first time I witnessed an idiot cause an accident but toddle off unaffected! I feel your pain with some of these drivers. Even in the midweek traffic these people are out to create an accident. Getting on the freeway on ramp I was third in line and we had a green light for the right turn that would have put use in a dedicated lane with no traffic from the other direction as they had two lanes that merged into one but was still not combined with our lane. The first car starts to go and suddenly stops. The guy in front of me just missed her by going onto the left shoulder and I dodged to the right shoulder and the person behind me my have hit her I'm not sure. The guy on her left and I were stopped and looked at each other, the stopped driver was still thinking she had to wait for the cars from the other direction that had a red light even though we had the green. I motioned to the other driver to go and then I went as did a few cars behind use both. I looked in the review and this dimwit was still sitting at the green light.
Tom Geiger Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Been there! Acceleration lane Turnpike on ramp. Right at the end, where you should already be going 65-70… the woman in front of me STOPS! From that point at a stop there is no way to safely merge into traffic going 70-80 mph !

If they are that afraid of hiway traffic they shouldn't be on the freeway. They usually become a mobile road block and everyone has to change lanes to get around them and that disrupts the traffic flow in all the other lanes increasing the chances of an accident with everyone trying to avoid them.
Mark Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I had a (distant) relative who actually got pulled over once for going too slow. This wasn't on the highway, just a regular road. Same person bought a new car with an airbag, and thought he could "test" it, thinking it was reusable. Got an expensive lesson from the dealer when he found out it wasn't!

Got an expensive lesson from the dealer when he found out it wasn't! You got me curious. How exactly did he trigger the airbag to go off? The sensors are in the nose of the car. Hard braking will not trigger it - needs to be an impact (a very sudden deceleration)! So they had the airbag blow up in their face? it is a controlled explosion and the airbag fabric gets really stiff when inflated by the exploding gasses. It can break the driver's nose.
Mark Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Don't know, but it was a pretty early one. Not one of the early Seventies GM test cases (they supposedly sold a few Oldsmobiles with them), it might have been something like a Ford Escort or Tempo.
Tom Geiger Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Back in the day when airbags and anti lock brakes were new, an idiot I knew professionally rented a car and wanted to see exactly how anti-lock brakes worked. He got the car up to speed and jammed the brake pedal. The car lurched to a stop and the airbag went off! He got smacked in the face (because he deserved it!)! He brought car back to Avis complaining that airbag went off while he was driving. Big apologies, free rentals!

With Disney World, Sea World and the 5000 other "attractions" crammed into a small area makes it interesting. Tourists with no clue where they are going, 2 major toll roads and a state hwy dumping traffic onto a section of interstate that hasn't been expanded since the early 90s and you have a recipe for who knows what will happen! At least you get entertained if sitting in traffic. The worse ones down here are the Dodge truck guys and Jeep drivers. the Dodge boys are trying to outrun everybody, the Jeep guys are in the hammer lane doing 10 under the limit and will not move over. Mall Crawler/BroDozer drivers are aggressive anyways, but the Dodge crew takes it to another level.

In Prescott it's the same with all big jacked up trucks, brand don't matter. Add the Left Lane Lemmings.
