60's Corvette pseudo Road Racer - now finished.
Phirewriter replied to maltsr's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Cool build, reminds me of one of my favourite 60's competition Corvettes. Can't wait to see the finished product. -
Nice build, I like the detailing, color and the wheels look good on it. Really like the '67/'68 body style.

New! Improved! '69 Charger Glue Bomb Resto/Rescue New Pics 2/12
Phirewriter replied to Snake45's topic in Model Cars
I really like your resto jobs. These remind me of what guys were doing to their real cars when I was in high school, jacked up, mismatched rims, etc... I really like the look. -
Simply stunning!

Looks great for a first build! Keep it up, you will find a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from here. I have the first couple of models I ever built but are packed away with other stuff from my late father's estate. Hopefully I'll be able to get around to going through his things soon and will post a couple photos.

Thanks, I knew the mags looked familiar and were in a vintage kit but just couldn't place them.

Awesome paint and a great looking build. Where or from what kit did you source the wheels?

Here's a link to their website: http://craftsmanshipmuseum.com Amazing and inspirational projects.

How old is old? Looks good. I have drawings and paintings from when I was young, it's interesting to see the progression over the years as we improve our skills.

Some of those paper models are quite amazing. You might want to check this out too; http://davesdesigns.ca/cutandfold/html/koolwheelz.html -
Anyone here collect Redline Hot Wheels?
Phirewriter replied to Phirewriter's topic in Diecast Corner
Whaaaa????? Too many? Seriously though I know what you mean. Giving that amount of cars in a really nice thing to do. Nice story of your brush with Hot Wheels development. At one of the last HW conventions I attended I ran into a number of collectors who were child models for the catalogs and ads in the first years HW's were on the market. I still collect on a casual basis, and then only for my interest and not as an investment. That's the one thing that's turned me off to Diecast message boards; too much focus on $$$$ and not what truly interested people as far as cars go. I also collect Lesney Matchbox stuff along with anything else that sparks interest. But since I also build models (why would I be here otherwise?) I wanted to see if there's others that collect similar stuff. I don't buy new alot of new diecast anymore and concentrate more on vintage releases. Being a newly minted grandfather I'm hoping my grandson will have some interest in cars. My son-in-law has motorcycles and is a pilot so he'll be in good hands to foster interest in things mechanical. Has definitely changed plans for what happens to my stuff when I go room temperature. -
Anyone here collect Redline Hot Wheels?
Phirewriter replied to Phirewriter's topic in Diecast Corner
Very sweet collection!! I do indeed not only remember Sizzlers but still race them when time permits (slot cars too) Usually a group of us get together this time of year to race both Fat Track, orange track layouts and set up a Hot Line train for the kids. Unfortunately everyone has been so busy with their jobs this season we haven't been able to arrange anything. -
Just curious if there's any builders here who collects and/or restores vintage Hot Wheels? I know there's some amazing 1/25 tribute builds by one of the members, RestoModGuy I believe. Just picked up a nice Pit Crew Car to complete my race team, shown here with the rest of the racing team Heavyweights and a hot pink 917.

Thanks for posting, excellent job! -
Sorry for your loss. Cats or dogs, when it comes down to it they really are our best friends. I've had to go through it 3 times and don't think it will be any easier with my current little buddy.

Great idea and beautiful build.

That turned out really cool considering the issues with the body. I actually really like the 68/69 grill mash-up. That and the whole car for that matter has a unique flow that in my eyes says factory styling study for the '68 to '69 transition.

remember the AMT "Iron Horse" Mustang?
Phirewriter replied to 62rebel's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Roadster version possibly looks like this? Had the image in a model reference folder and may have got it from an old post here. Looks pretty cool, simply the kit glass with the roof and the A pillars removed. -
Nice job! Neat to see one of these built.
-
Thanks for all the kind words. I'll be posting more box art inspired builds as time permits (and other subjects too)

Thanks for all the kind words, I wish I could say it was my idea but there's been stripers doing this for awhile. Just had some extra time and incentive to paint some this year. After the holidays I am striping a bunch of coffee mugs for one of my customers too.

Thanks, always looking to try different products. I don't do much b&w illustration but have usually used Derwent or Bryunzeel pencils when I do.

Those are some great looking cars. What chassis are they using?
