  1. Yes, that being said I think a well stocked parts bin might yield something useful. I picked one up but haven't opened it yet. I'll check my parts bins and see if there is an acceptable replacement.
  2. It's nice to see back but I would've rather seen the Rayson Craft reissued in any form.
  3. All the best on you and yours new life adventure! That is one beautiful Pontiac! The only one in my collection is a MIB. This is one of those builds that makes me consider building some of my mint vintage kits. I've been on look out for this and a few other rebuilders at shows (I no longer do eBay unless absolutely necessary) but much on my glue bomb list rarely shows up.
  4. Wow, that is nice. Just really nice!!!!!!! Makes me think I should stock up on a couple more '62 T-Bird kits just for the rolling stock. Would probably look great on the Starliner hardtop too.
  5. Not only the nose but the rear deck has a angular drop that at least from the box art also looks similar to the XR-6.
  6. Most of the car thefts here are for using the car in another crime, drugs sales, robbery, etc... Some are just for giggles by young idiots who think that's a good way to give themselves street cred. The type of car is immaterial as long as it's an easy theft. Luckily we also have CCP law which is a deterrent in some areas known for a higher percentage of gun owners.
  7. At least having a manual will increase your odds of NOT having your car stolen or jacked. There is a recent upsurge in my area of these crimes. After a brief discussion with my neighbor (who is a police officer) he mentioned that alot of the would be criminal types avoid anything that may have a stick. I learned how to drive a stick in my dad's '41 Ford, 3 on the tree with a Columbia 2 speed rear end.
  8. I'd be in for one, that looks great!!! (and the '66 Ford too!)
  9. Nice, I really like the way you organized your tools and aftermarket parts. My parts currently occupy boxes and can be a pain to go through.
  10. The difference between the .03 and .05 is tip and needle size. Heavier metallic and automotive paint will flow/atomize with the .05 but everyone has their own preference.
  11. Those all look neat, brings back memories. My dad loved Hubley kits, and had all thier metal kits and multiple of the Model A's. He had a couple of 1-1 A's in the early 60's thru the 70's. I have all of his kits in addition to mine but have yet to build any. I loved the box art on the original issues of the A kits too.
  12. Nice score! I lost many of my vintage magazine due to a fire where they were stored.
  13. I sure hope not they have a new wheel set announced that looks pretty cool. http://pegasushobbies.net/catalog/images/Schueymed.jpg
  14. Perhaps if you'd be paying attention to some other threads you would've seen the the Silhouette is being reissued again. The Model King is not a manufacturer. He is simply paying for companies to reissue kits under his business name to sell and for distribution. Round 2 stopped doing this for him years ago although he has limited items done through Revell and Mobius. This still takes time, money and someone with enough knowledge to be able to track down the proper mold inserts or knows what may need to be retooled and at what cost to even make sure anything moving forward would be a good investment on everyone's part. Again if you'd take time and research or at least Google some of this you'd be able to find out who to contact and at least write them a request. Instead you post uninformed proclamations here with nothing of any substance to back them up.
  15. I thought Tamiya didn't start with their 1/20 F-1 kits until the mid 70's. So perhaps the Turbine is the first for this scale. It's the earliest 1/20 open wheel kit in my collection at least. The only other larger that 1/25 scale open wheel kits I have are some early Bandai, Nichimo and other odd makes but they're all bigger scale than 1/20th.
  16. Over the years I've been collecting parts and glue bombs of various Monogram hot rods to strip of period parts. The '30 Woody has a Chevy motor with the six carb setup. The '30 phaeton has a 3-2bbl setup. Both these are easy to find since they've been reissued often. The restored Blue Beetle has similar brake backing plates but I don't know how well they would interchange. The Lil Coffin's Hemi and suspension can be easily adapted for a different look. I've been messing with this for a while. I'm sure there's more but I've been trying to finish some other projects and haven't had these on the bench for a while.
  17. I'd love to see this classic restored back to the Little T version. Perhaps R-M might take a cue from R2 and include the cool store display or something similar.
  18. That looks great! I love old box art and matching builds look great displayed together.
  19. I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of the Edsel tail light bezels, but am happy to see all the other parts they were able to restore. Jimmy Flintstone offers a Edsel wagon body with separate bezels. Perhaps he might sell just the bezels.
  20. First Jimmy's Futura body was done to ease the assembly of the Revell multi piece body and is not his original production. Second the XR-6 and Wilhelm's Wonder no longer exist, tooling is lost and/or modified. Perhaps you need to research the history of some the kits you spout off about, not to mention the whole process it takes to produce or even reissue a kit. As far as Detroit show cars, there are a number of small manufacturers making finished builds in a variety of scales and media. Expensive, yes. But they probably have the market cornered for the collectors interested in that automotive genre. I don't see big sales for these types of kits to the average builder. I'm also wondering myself why I'm even responding to this post. Must be a glutton for punishment. BTW I don't see the visible chassis you insisted would be out by the holidays.
  21. I agree with Scott, I'm no scale snob and base my purchases on subject matter. Would I like a 1/25 version to go with my wedge turbine, sure but I would love to have a reissue of the 1/20 version since I can't bring myself to dig into my MIB kit.
  22. Besides being ugly, did any one notice the lack of a drive shaft? Who ever was behind this build should be forbidden from ever using tools again. This is a truly offensive excuse for an automobile at any price.
  23. Hey Scott, before you spend your coin on a copy please note the entire article is not featured. The Mercury is only shown in a couple photos in a chapter on adding details to kits. You'd probably be better off locating the issue(s) that contain the full article for more information. I guess you can be an author by chopping up previous published articles as Bill Neumann has shown.
  24. "Is there a chapter that covers dioramas as well ? " Yes, from a simple sandbox and ocean background for a woody to a car show featuring some of the builds in the book. Hopefully I'll have some stuff on a photo hosting site soon, when I can I'll try to post the scans.
  25. Fantastic! Really like the paint, I like the body kit on this too. Great job.
