  1. That's really cool. Got a couple of similar kits at Hobby Lobby, didn't see that one though. Would go great with my egg plane kits.
  2. It'll be interesting to see how may show up at swap/shows in the next few years cheap, missing the go kart.
  3. Ahh, thought you were looking for info in general. There's a couple of groups on Facebook dedicated to them. I know there's a lot of pushback about Facebook here but it's definitely worth looking at. Lots of great modeling groups in general if you want to see other people's builds.
  4. Looks great! Nice choice of colours and level of detail. Love the Trail70 as well. Is it built OOB or did you make any modifications? I'm happy that Round 2 has seen fit to offer these vintage motorcycle and minibike kits. Can't wait for more!
  5. There's a lot of info and photos on the interweb. Check sites such as Jalopy Journal/H.A.M.B. there's Facebook groups dedicated to gassers, Google's your friend.
  6. It would depend on what a bidders maximum bid is. If the first bidder was set at $1,299 and someone comes in higher it automatically bumps up.
  7. The assembly in the front is the slot guide or blade, the copper braids pick up electricity for the motor.
  8. In addition to Popular Hot Rodding these are the other titles cut by T.E.N. Rod & Custom, High Performance Pontiac, Custom Classic Trucks, 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility, Mud Life, 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords, Modified Mustangs & Fords, Camaro Performers, GM High-Tech Performance, Import Tuner, and Honda Tuning. I had subscribed to a number of these titles and was disheartened to see them axed. That and changes made to the current crop of titles have helped make the decision to no longer subscribe to anything they publish. Plenty of other interesting and better stuff out there both in print and digital.
  9. Popular Hot Rodding was killed off along with Rod & Custom and a few other titles when The Enthusiast Network took over publication.
  10. Love it! Cool concept and from the photos great execution.
  11. I thought of another point in regards to this statement and should have used it in my earlier post. We as a group here are all well aware of the '40's era Chevy kits that Galaxie Ltd has produced over the years and the excellent quality and scale fidelity of them. One man's vision, Gary Schmidt and one designer, Tom West. So again, that argument has no legs to stand on. And after re-reading the statement from Mike's Decals it certainly seems to come off as rather combative, excuse ridden and very off putting. Even if they correct things in any upcoming releases, attitudes like that make me less inclined to consider looking at them in the future.
  12. In the above statement it's indicated that this kit is the development of 1 guy and 1 designer. Ok so what! I've worked with guys who develop resin masters (not just automotive subjects) for a variety of kits and R&D projects using nothing more than foam and other scratch building items, their own eyes and brain power, no 3d design software, etc... They're able to make an accurate master through nothing but they're own talent and research (measure twice...) I know it is a bit like apples and oranges but based on that there's no excuse for the problems with this kit. Even if the designer is not familiar with the subject there's enough information out there that could have been acquired to make a far more accurate replica than what's being offered here. I was really looking forward to this kit, while not a huge NASCAR fan I do like the vintage cars. For a bit I was even willing to look past the issues as were pointed out during the development. Upon seeing the final result I simply cannot justify spending any money for this. I typically can look past some issues with kits that get a lot of bad press here but there's just too much wrong going on with this kit. I don't want to see a new company fail on their first attempt, hopefully IF they continue to develop kits these issues can be addressed in the future.
  13. When the '63 Nova wagon was released it came with a trailer and various accessories including a Hemi engine and stand. The engine powering the drag version appears to be that very Hemi. I have both versions and it looks like all but the necessary parts were pulled or blocked off and the original chassis modified for the Boss version. I compared the two years ago and I don't believe it could ever come back stock even if they back tooled the body.
  14. I too enjoy the smell of old model paint. Both Testors and and Pactra had their own unique perfume. These days I tend to use Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics and automotive based paints for my builds, but there's always something I use those little square jars for. BTW, the best olfactory (and visual) stimulation for me are the upcoming vintage races at Road America and the delightful smell of spent and raw racing fuel! And... I was blessed that my father was a model builder, I got to paint inside just as he did. Yes my mother protested but given her taste in food and lack of cooking skills she had nothing to complain about.
  15. My condo boarders a wetland and geese were quite a problem, making much of the common areas on our side unusable due to the droppings. At one point a number of us dog owners decided to get together and let them off their leashes, after a few times it seems to have permanently chased them off. I don't advocate cruelty to animals, but I'd shoot every one of them in this area. They are a real problem in some of the surrounding neighborhoods. During certain times of the year they overrun the local park and we can't even walk through it. Nasty creatures they are!
  16. The promotional Bronco is surprisingly easy to find on eBay or Hot Wheels collector forums. I found a mint on at the last HW convention I was at, maybe 5 years ago and paid about $25. Price obviously will vary depending on condition but have seen them go for as little as $10 for examples with minor wear.
  17. I'm sure the tooling for the Leva Car is long gone, but I'd be all over that if it was reissued. I always liked the Jetsons style dream cars of the late 50's/early 60's.
  18. Just WOW!! What a transformation.
  19. Very enjoyable! Nice to see your son actually rides his Stingray. Hope to see more.
  20. Great power choice too!
  21. I had one of the fore mentioned Mitsubishi based Challengers for a number of years. It was actually a very good car, well optioned, 5speed car. The power was adquite but with 4 wheel discs and good suspension it handled great. Of course shortly after repainting it and new wheel/tires some nimrod ran a stop light and totaled it. Wish it still had some photos. Actually wish I still had it and the '73 Celica GT coupe my buddy had.
  22. Wow! Looks excellent, love the colour combination and stance. Any motor photos?
  23. This and wanting extra parts period was one of the reasons Revell changed the parts replacement program guidelines years ago. Leave it to a few idiots (well, probably more than a few) to spoil things for people with legitimate issues. Just looking at some of the places that still carry kits and seeing how many kit have wheels, tires and decals looted out is proof of that. Very common at the Meijer's stores around my area!
