  1. back to the thread topic, I would buy a mid 50's Merc if they marketed one, a mid 50's mopar would be nice also... we need more subjects for customs, rats and cruisin cars.
  2. what...!!???? No one has mentioned the International Model Police Agency? I guess everyone has been skating under the radar and not received any citations for unsafe or drunk model building. "Friends don't let friends build drunk!"
  3. the engine would be a little more correct looking if you paint the distributor vacuum advance unit silver and move the vacuum hose that you have running to the carb to a spot on the front below the fuel bowl. but other than that, it's a great looking engine.
  4. well, I had the year correct in my search, just didn't make it to the Metz name. I did happen upon a car named Brush though.
  5. an unexpected bonus of this issue of the car ID game... I happened upon this while browsing through the Allard registry: what looks to be a "hemi" air-cooled V8 in a hill climber.
  6. may I suggest the '60 Ford Starliner as an option for donor parts... I haven't checked the width but it should be in the ballpark.
  7. or they may have gotten licensed to produce copies.
  8. umm... I believe there already is a company or product called "Orange" (a cell phone or cell phone service, possibly in Europe) so you'll have to get permission from them to use that name.
  9. I worked for Tune Up Masters for six years and encountered him a couple times, he was a rather charismatic person.
  10. wow, the only thing better than having a pair of those lens would be to have them flash sequentially.
  11. Even though I've been gathering some 1/8 scale parts for future projects I'm going to play devils advocate here. There are several reason I can guess at for lack of large scale kits. 1. They're large..., not a whole bunch of shelf space in the home or the hobby shop for them 2. Cost to purchase, most builders see the price and decide they can buy three or more 1/25 scale kits and go that route 3. Cost to manufacture, making and maintaining molds for large scale may be very costly, imagine having flash issues on a large scale kit like we tolerate on old 60's and 70's era kits... 4. Large scale kits have inherent stability and durability issues due to the plastic used in casting, some metal or photo-etched parts would make for some more durable suspensions on large kits. One bright spot for large scale wishes is the 3d printers, if you can scale it then most likely someone can print it.
  12. at least you're not asking for your "two front teeth"...
  13. as I sit here with the doors and windows open to the lovely warm weather outside... wishing all here a warm, safe and happy holiday.
  14. if you have a theater or movie lighting supply store you can get "gels" that they use to color their lights for stage work.
  15. is it possible that you have THX1138 confused with the movie called Dark Star? I may be mistaken but I don't recall hearing that THX1138 had any space scenes.
  16. I have entered, I have sponsored awards and helped judge local contests but that was about twenty years ago due to life events. I am resurrecting my unfinished builds and getting ideas stocked up in order to give the local judges something to pick apart.
  17. I haven't seen you post any info regarding plans for tail lights on this so I thought I'd throw out an idea. The flow of bodywork from the skirts to the rear bumper looks like '53 Caddy tail lights would be a nice fit and still keep the nice lines you have already incorporated. Just notch in a bit and add red lens.
  18. have you considered cleaning up the engine compartment a bit by moving the battery to the trunk?
  19. maybe AARP's new motto is: Get them while they're still breathing.
  20. umm... how do I get this cursed sundial to stop blinking 12:00 ?
  21. DEVO says wip-it good.
  22. is anyone here familiar with "google docs" ? (they're free to use) my wife says they are "online" docs (text or spreadsheet files) that one person creates then can add other people to edit or add content. it could be something kind of like a Wiki where a forum member can administrate it and maybe a link hosted here (somewhere) so that it can be accessed or pointed to whenever these questions arise again.
  23. The kit artistry of Tom Daniel may seem cartoonish for the current time but apparently was very timely for the 70's and 80's when they came out. Those decades needed the "over the top" ideas and media presentation to distract us from the other everyday crisis that was going on and similar to today's media and sports stars, car builders back then were trying to build the next newest, biggest and most outlandish (and of course shiniest) show cars in order to bring the crowds into the car shows and show events. A lot of those kits and cars were from the "Roadrunner and Coyote" years and were about as practical and functional as anything build by Dick Dastardly. BUT....they were fun to look at. (This of course is my own opinion and may be skewed from your own exposure to car related events.)
  24. at first glance that is pretty close to Ferrari red, even at second glance... this looks great, I hope figuring out the glass for it is less problematic than getting all those gorgeous contours created.
  25. anyone get pics of this? I wanted to but my b-day celebrations totally took over any time I might have had to take pic at this show, I'm a little bummed about that.
