Die-cast body work?
Pat Minarick replied to Pat Minarick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you for the suggestion , I think I'll try the epoxy first. That might not be worth getting for one body ,but will keep it in mind . I wouldn't even mess with this one , but I owned a 85 Grand Fury for about fifteen years and really want to build a couple of these. -

Thank , that's what I heard of using, but wasn't sure if it would work good for what I need to do. -
Die-cast body work?
Pat Minarick replied to Pat Minarick's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's the body putty I usually use. Thanks for the tip on the epoxy, I have micro balloons so I will try. Still have a lot of unnecessary stuff to grind out on the inside before I really start working on the body. -
Very nice. You did a real good job making this kit look good.

What is the best thing to use to add to the a die-cast body. I need to extend the bottom of some fenders and rocker panels. I've never messed with metal bodies except for repainting some Hot Wheels. Was thinking of having cast in resin first , then making changes to the body .This is what I'm working on. Really wanting to fix the problems I see with the body and build a chassis and interior and have it casted.

You can cut out wheel openings for clearance, and doesn't say anything about removing body panels ?

I like it. -
It's not that bad, really kind of like how you did the body. If you really don't like the paint you could cover the whole thing with black flock, it would look like the real car that they covered in black fur to hide the cracked body work.

Really nice , this helps motivating me to finish mine.

That's the plan, just going buy the details I can get from the movie. I was wondering if there was any information on what colors the cars were from the factory? Is the Highland Green a factory color. I would be a cool detail to add two different colors of overspray to the bottom of the car. Looked it up , guess it was a factory color , wonder why they painted the rocker trim.

What Kits Were Molded in Green?
Pat Minarick replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Revell Thames panel and the AMT 68 Shelby Mustang. Don't get the Shelby, that kit is really bad, the 67 kit is really nice. -
Real happy to see this coming out. I have enough junk pieces to put one together, but I will have to buy serveral of these. Been planning on cutting a long bed down to fit a LRE frame. I also want to update one to a 90's body.

Thanks , that is a possiblity. -
Thanks ,figured a bunch of these thing out. I think the confusion I'm having is that both cars are not the same. In some scenes there is no mirror, and in the case there's a clear view of the rear of the car it has no cutouts on the valance. I'm just planning on finishing it up with what I've got started. As bad as this body was I wish I had just built in the unrestored look.

I'm going to put the six in a stock body, the four-door is going to have a Hemi? You never know what rearend you will find under a Mopar . I was looking for an A-body 8-3/4 to put under my Volare, found one under a 74 4-door Dart with a slant six.
