  1. This is my favorite part, JR. ? call me crazy, but I enjoy foiling. Let's do it!
  2. Yup. Gonna try this; no reason why it wouldn't work. Thanks, Dave.
  3. I think that I will try my big compressor. It's oil-less but its close to 40 years old (it's a "Black Max" from Price Club) I can probably squeeze a few more years out of it with this sort of use. I'll just need a regulator at the booth. Hopefully, I can regulate down at the compressor to the inlet pressure of the bench unit. Spray gunner has an Iwata regulator with moisture separator but it's 80 bucks. I may try a "Master" brand from Amazon since they all look like they came from the same factory anyway. For an airbrush, I decided on an Iwata Eclipse HC-CS (after much research) and maybe I'll get a break on Prime day or maybe Black Friday. Thanks for your input, Dave ( and everyone else, too! )
  4. YES! Pin it! I am a huge advocate of pinning. I pin everything that won't run away and try to escape. Mirrors, starters, anything small but not too small for a #75 drill bit. You are looking freaking awesome, Greg. Really nice Vette!
  5. Yeah man....paint looks pretty slick. Wheel/tire combo works and brings this middle-aged Chevy into the 21st century.
  6. How much pressure on a full charge?
  7. Thanks, Tom. It's in the Monogram '55 Chevy convertible box along with the '27 Touring fenders and interior tub you've been looking for. Thanks, David.
  8. Yup. Much better. This color gives you more flexibility if you decide, mid-build, to change the "flavor". Looks good, JR. ?
  9. OK, I did that. Do you have experience with their "No Name" brand products? They talk a good game. I just need some perspective.
  10. I'll bet dry nitrogen would work pretty well too. I wish I'd thought of that a few years ago. Thanks, Kevin
  11. Is there a brand or some identification on yours that I can look for? Thanks for your input, Dave.
  12. Your setup is kinda what I want to do. I have a big loud compressor that I can use and it's probably a lot better than the "airbrush compressor" I have. An external, stand alone, in-line regulator would be great as long as it delivers pressure accurately. The cheap ones all look like they are made by the same manufacturer ( like the one on my cheap "airbrush compressor"). Except the Iwata. But that's 3X the cost, which I'm OK with as long as it does what it's supposed to. When regulating to 15 psig you need accuracy. If a cheap one will perform properly, great. Thanks, Greg.
  13. Let's take it for a spin! Nice one Steve. Very contemporary style. Convertible conversion worked out quite well. ?
  14. Ditto all that. I'm thinking 1975-ish. Super nice, James.
  15. That pulley with no visible means of support? Idler. To adjust the belt, no doubt. But it's probably not spring loaded. I looked at some setups and it's part of the blower front cover on some but yours looks too low. You could try to add detail to it. Good luck Beautiful work on the hemi, John. I would try to go to the block with it. Ace? ACE!......
  16. The title says it all, folks. I'm upgrading my airbrush setup and I want a compressor that is equipped with a good regulator and moisture trap. At one point I used a small pancake job that I bought at Harbor Freight. The compressor is good but the regulator didn't last long. Then I got a cheap airbrush compressor I found on ebay and that regulator doesn't work well. If you have an airbrush compressor that has worked well for a few years or if you know of a good regulator that can replace these cheap-ass regulators that come with "budget" compressors, I would love to hear about it. Thanks.
  17. A mix of 2 parts Testor's enamel paint to 1 part "cheap" hardware store lacquer thinner works for me.
  18. Looks like you got it! Nice finish, Greg. Very nice.
  19. I'm a sucker for a yellow coupe, JR. How many projects are you juggling?
  20. For anyone besides me that was interested in the antenna thing, I found it on ebay and bought it for less than 8 bucks per 12" length. It's sold by Houston Pharma Supply. Free shipping! The 316 stainless is 0.028" OD, 0.0215 ID. An .020 wire should snuggle down inside it nicely. Thanks again, Steve, for putting on the right path. Hypodermic tubing! Who knew? (Can you tell how excited I am?)
  21. Thanks, Steve, I really appreciate you taking time to explain. You are the go-to guy for details like this. It's amazing how much effort you put into your projects. There should be a Nobel prize for model building and you would be at the top of that list. ? I should have asked you "what did you use for the bottom tube?" It would have saved you a lot of time and I apologize for trying to be funny but your explanation will benefit every one of us.
  22. Oh, I remember that (I think). I love it if it really looks like it does on my Android tablet. ? it's got a really nice metallic overtone. What light are the photos taken in?
  23. Yup....just read back...False memory....it happens now and then. I think I might have a tube of that color that I got at Ollie's.
  24. This is a kid's car who's family runs a body shop and it was a graduation present (1958). Nice work, TJ, that color looks a lot better than the last time I used it. Testor's is perfectly good paint when applied with love ?. (and micro-polished with tenacity and well developed skill). CONGRATS!
  25. Yeah.....maybe if I let some air out....?
