Great job Jonathan. Really outstanding work! When I was watching the race, I saw the 19 limping around when Busch really needed the caution. I thought that was highly convenient. Then I saw the replay, but in any case, the guys who really needed the caution (18 and 22) had teammates involved, so the conspiracy theories can run wild if one wants to go there. Logano had a short run car, and he got what he needed at the end. His team planned for the fact that there could be a short run at the end. Congrats to the 22.

Looks great T.J.! Really nice work. -
My kids are 27 and 21 and fortunately neither went down this path. The eye opener for me and my wife was when they were in middle school and they informed us that drug use was moving down to this age group of kids. This is not a popular opinion in this time, but there is no punishment too strong for the people who push this poison.

There comes a time where it's just best to waive the white flag and call one done. The car body is a JNJ resin with an early 90's Monogram Pontiac as the donor for the rest. The paint is Dupli - Color Linen White. The blue is Wal Mart's brand of Royal Blue enamel. The red on the nose of the car is I believe Rustoleum Apple Red. The car took a dip is Castrol Super Clean four times for various paint problems with the last three due to problems matching the red on the nose with the decals. I thought I had the red figured out with the spoon tests, but when the paint on the nose met with the decal on the hood, it was a no go. The decals are Powerslide. They went on fine, but it perplexes me as to why they did not make a decal for the nose of the car. If I remember correctly, the proprietor said it was too difficult to make a decal to fit the nose, except that's what I did. I lowered the ride height and used Bare Metal Foil for the spoiler. So anyway, without further adieu, here are a few pictures. Thanks for looking.

The trucks have not been produced in plastic since the first time they were offered back in the 90's, I believe. AMT produced the COT. You can find them at Model Roundup https://www.modelroundup.com/ . You will have to search for Jimmie Johnson as his appears to be the only one left. They are under $20.00 with the wing, close to $30.00 if you want the updated car with the spoiler.

Bethlehem Steel & The People Who Built America

Unfortunately, the academics and politicians bought into free trade, and did so in a way not practiced anywhere else in the world. They made our companies, and by extension, our workers compete on the basis of wage. We had the highest standard of living because our wages were higher and we had to compete with countries that paid their workers a fraction of what our workers had to have to live. I will never forget being told by these pin headed professors that a rising tide lifts all boats, so free trade would increase the standard of living for all. Well we find out 50 years after we started this grand experiment that we created a state of equilibrium. The countries we were forced to compete against were able to raise their wages, ours fell provided the jobs stayed here in the first place. -

From what I have read Revell wanted to do a Toyota, but Toyota would not give them the licensing. The problem appears to be with the car company. -
Great job! Very interesting take on the car. I like it.

Ed, David Reutimann was the driver of the car. -
I have used Fotki's fee for service for quite some time and am pleased with it. Everybody has their preference as to what is best, but I haven't taken the time to look into anything else.

Great job. It's also great to see a young person interested in the hobby.

Thanks for the comments guys. I appreciate it. Ed, you are correct. Mike's decal site listed the car as an 06 and that's what I went with. I agree Mark. From what I understand Revell wanted to do the Toyota but Toyota wouldn't give them the rights. -

2006 Domino's Toyota
Jim N posted a topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
I wanted to challenge myself with this one. It is a 2006 - 2007 Revell Monte Carlo that I converted to a Toyota. Since this was still the era of common templates, the Monte Carlo could be used to build this or the Ford. To build the Toyota, I had to remove all of the Monte Carlo detail (grill and headlight treatment) from the front of the car. Then I shortened the hood in the front and then added the piece I cut off to the front fascia. I added the little bump to the hood and front fascia with strip styrene. I layered a couple of pieces and then finished shaping with body putty. On the back of the car, I extended the rear bumper out with 0.30 sheet styrene and then added the rear tail light element as the Toyotas this area extend out as well. I then reshaped the rear fascia so it looked like the race car. Lastly, I reshaped the rear 3/4 windows. All of the underpinnings are stock from the Monte Carlo kit. The paint is a Dupli-Color metallic blue and the decals are Powerslide. Thanks for looking. -

Great job! I had this car as an HO slot car back in the day. It was one of my favorites.
