Any idea what this resin body and its parts will cost? -
1/25 Revell '72 Porsche 914/6 2'n1
'70 Grande replied to unclescott58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is that Porsche kit really in 1/25 scale, (not 1/24th)? I wonder if the road-race version's parts will include fender flares, Minilite racing wheels and that Richie Ginther cut-down windshield; any idea, anyone? -
Reissue of Warren Tope's '73 Trans-Am Mustang

So, back to my original question in this post; are these Firestone tires inside this kit brand-new, or are they the same tires that have been found inside some of the recently-available tire multi-packs? (The tires look to me like pretty-wide street tires, but they're not nearly wide enough for a Trans-Am race car of this era). Thoughts... anyone? -
First off, welcome to the forum! I've got this same kit in my stash, yet to be built! Your build is one of the best that I have seen of this vintage kit! Extremely clean with excellent paintwork and detailing! The decals really set it off, too! Makes me want to get mine started! Nice work!

Removing Sharpie marker from kit plastic
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
By "Pure, denatured", do you mean the kind of alcohol that is 80%+ alcohol? (I think many rubbing alcohols are closer to 70% alcohol). -
Today I received a built-up Mustang kit that I won on an auction site, and was thinking that the model's body had been painted in Flat Black spray paint. Once the built-up reached my mailbox, I discovered that it was not painted with paint, but the body had been "painted" with a Black, Sharpie Permanent marker, (the thick, greasy, permanent Black ink that goes on in streaks). Has anyone ever encountered this situation before? If so, were you able to remove the Sharpie "marker-paint" job? I'm looking for any suggestions for removing this Sharpie marker from the kit's body; different solutions to soak it in, etc. Thanks.

Mustang Guys, take notice
'70 Grande replied to vypurr59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Different for certain... I'm disappointed that the galloping horse emblem in the center of that grill opening looks incredibly crooked to my eye; on a custom-build like this one, you'd think they pay attention to the placement of the iconic logo! -
Wow, that paint work looks fantastic! I'll be watching this build as it progresses!

Really, really creative! Exceptional work!

I've been recently intrigued by late-1960's sports car racers, and am wondering if any kit manufacturers have ever made a 1/25 scale, late-1960's, (1967-69, specifically), MGB sports car in either factory-stock or race car form? I believe there might have been one in 1/24 scale from Gunze Sanyo or another foreign kit manufacturer, but any from an American kit manufacturer? And if so, if the kit had decent detail and build-ability. I'd appreciate any input from the kit historians out there.

Wow, Tommy; that is a very cool build! And the story behind it is great as well! You've really nailed this car; your details and paintwork are excellent and the decals you created are fantastic! Nice job!
-
Beautiful build! As previously posted, it has a great stance and attitude! You should be very proud of this build. What tires did you use for the rears?

Somebody please message me with how to get to that "other" model site so i can view these pics!

Reissue of Warren Tope's '73 Trans-Am Mustang
'70 Grande replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Guess I just need to be more patient and wait for this kit's January reissue release! I pretty much know what to expect in this reissue; I remember building the original release long ago and liked it then. This is a pretty straight-forward and basic kit that can be built into a fairly-accurate race car with a little extra effort. The one thing that I am puzzled about are these "pad-printed" Firestone tires. I feel as though tires can "make-or-break" a kit, and I'm really curious what the tires inside this reissue will look like; I hope they do a good job of representing a 1:1 Trans-Am racing tire. -
I've seen in descriptions of this soon-to-be-reissued kit, that it'll have pad-printed Firestone tires inside of it. (I believe the original issue of this kit came with Goodyears). My question is this: has anyone seen 1/25 pad-printed Firestones on the market recently that may very well be the same tires, (Trans-Am, racing-style), that will be inside of this kit? Or, do you think that it's possible that these will be new Firestone racing tires that we haven't seen before?

Agreed; a great trade with Vince Nelson, (vintagedragcrazy)!

Moebius Models '59 Dodge & Chrysler Turbine Car.
'70 Grande replied to W-409's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Sooo, (directed to you 1/25 Mopar experts), if a builder wanted to bring more detail to this potential, Moebius/Johan reissue of the '59 Dodge, are there any existing 1/25 kits that could donate an accurate engine, chassis and any other needed parts to combine and build into a full-detail '59 Dodge? Would the 1/25 '58 Plymouth Fury from AMT/Ertl be an accurate donor for engine and chassis pieces, or if not, is there something better out there? ... probably not going to be the easiest hood to cut-out on that '59 Dodge, either! -
Great looking Camaro build! Sure would like to see some pics of the engine compartment and chassis. Also, since this kit has been heavily-scrutinized for its front grill, would like to see a straight-on front end shot to see how it looks once built... a shot from the rear would be great too!

Beautiful save and restoration! I think you can find the 1:1 version of this same car on the front cover of the November 2014 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine, except that 1:1 has a White vinyl roof and facory luggage rack on its trunk lid. According to that article, this color combination of Sublime with a White interior was getting quite rare on 1970 Chargers.
-
I think the narrow white walls are a little more "in-charactor" with the body paint's narrow color strips, so I'd go narrow, too.

Snake, I have all the parts ready to make this same modification to my Revell '69 Nova's body; I'd sure like to see some pics of what you did to make that '72 AMT tailight/rear bumper piece correctly fit the Revell Nova body... could you PM me a pic or two?
