History of AMT & MPC '68-'72 Chevelles
Daddyfink replied to Fabrux's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Holy smokes! What a journey! LOL! Great write up! Thanks. I just wish they would make a whole new tool for this car. -
Wow, that came out nice! I once asked the late Al Marcellus about Willy's driving technique about holding onto the side of the car, and he told me that Willy had not clue he was doing it! It was just a reflex to hold on from sliding around in the seat! He had to show Willy a picture of him doing before Willy realized what he was doing! LOL!

Wow, how did I miss this two year ago! Very nice build of a very special car! Weird fact about this car is that the chute pack body was done first, then SPE had to make a chassis to fit it! And the only guy at the time that could fit in it and drive it was Larry Dixon!

I think they are mostly carrying things they can sell for the S.T.E.M. school programs. Mine had the Rocket sets, aircraft, ships and stuff like the turbine kit. But no cars.
-
Oh, the streamliner! I remember someone posting an old ad from a drag magazine from back then advertising those bodies, but I have never seen a pic of one in actual use. Some came close, but nothing like that.

Monogram Badman
Daddyfink replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, the Badman is 1/24 vs. 1/25 AMT kit. And the Monogram kit was never really that accurate to begin with. Plus given that it was also an optional convertible no doubt made it worse for the Monogram kit. -

It wasn't until I got older and learned more about cars that I found out that the engine was bit off. But I was a kid and didn't care, it just looked awesome when I was done!! And as an adult, I built it pretty much out the box, warts and all, simply because of the memories! -

I have them all, but the Der Guber Wagon and Meter Cheater are glue bombs. Luckily I have extra parts from picking up stuff over the years! Hey! Atlantis! Dig them up!!

Yes, I have tried every type of BMF made, this is just the last that I have, as I rarely use it since I mostly build race cars.

Oh wow, I was just writing when this popped up! LOL! I picked it up today at my LHS

Well, here is the Non Existent, not in production, they won't sell it to me, Tamiya Ultra Thin Aluminum Stickers. Here I am comparing it to the last piece of good Bare Metal Foil in my possession, Ultra Bright Chrome. I will try it later and and report my findings, or maybe I will just make something up, eh? The two sheets together are about 2/3 of the Bare Metal. So the value goes to BMF, but how does it work, well, I don't know yet.
