Yes Tamiya. The chrome is very fragile as it scratches easily. I went through 3 roofs until before I tried dipping it in Future before any handling.

I use Micro set but mix ins soap water to keep them movable. I have had big decals dry and stick and become really hard to move, The soap keeps them evenly wet. This car was painted white , every thing else is decal -

The chrome roof is a real pain to keep clean and decal without scratching. I dipped in Future to protect then decalled and dipped it again.

Nice work. I was lucky enough to see the long tails at the Glen in 1980. There was two works cars and a Jolly Club car driven by Eddie Cheever. I wish I culd get along tail kit or maybe Italeri would reeleae it as they have with some old molds like Protar. One thing I would try is to replicate the screens that are part of the tail fins, not easy but doable. Are those rear tires the original? The long tail i built had bigger rims with lower profile tires. Notice the number were different at the Glen. -

Tamiya is going to be around their just having some distribution problems because Tamiya USA is located in California. -
Decals are done, needs some touch up. I had to make the thin white decals and the red strpe that wraps around the tip of the nose. They were not supplied in the kit.

Try Tamiya weathering set 'D', it has clear burnt red and blue. It comes off with ammonia if you want redo it. It's applied like makeup.

Model ready for decals. I used Tru-Color black. The Tamiya would not dry even 2 weeks and dehydrator.

They look great. Checkout Paul at ISM on youtube he uses them. They are fast drying enamels. -
The brush in Tamiya's glue is very small.

What silver did you use on the chassis and rll cage?

I think the Grex has an extra seal that can be problematic from what I have read on other forums. For the money the Procon /Mister Hobby cannot be beat. The trigger type is addicting in a good way. I have two Iwatas and the PS290 spray and quality are very much the same

I built the Moddlers kit. It had metal parts for the mirrors, gas caps, taillights and headlights. They polished up well and needed no paint.
