  1. Tamiya Fine White primer is better and is is available at Hobby Lobby now. Using a 40% off coupon makes it less than $7 a can.
  2. Use a wide soft brush to smooth it out then use a hot damp cloth pressed over the decal to get it to lay down. Most solvents are too strong for those decals. Gentle use of a hair dry on the lowest setting also helps but keep it moving around.
  3. This is the original NITTO version of the kit. The only difference is decals(same graphics) and the NITTO had satin plated wheels. Both kits have the Martini markings.
  4. I got these two for Christmas. One from my wife and one from me.
  5. The Anthem is a very good and reliable airbrush. It has a tapered needle which makes is spray fine at the beginning of the trigger travel but then opens up very wide at full trigger. It will cover a good range of airbrushing needs.
  6. The first Christmas I was married(1982) my wife got me Tamiya's 1/12 scale Martini Porsche 935. I still think it is one of the best plastic kits ever made.
  7. Is there photo-etch parts in the kit? Hobbysearch shows them with them.
  8. One episode of Home Improvement had Tamiya's 1/12 Ferrari 641/2(see pic) built and dsplayed on an end table in Tim's house.
  9. I got the Brabham fan car by Fujimi, The real car was raced once and won it was then banned immediately never to race again. A huge fan on the rear sucked all the air out from under the car. The engine was 3.0 liter flat twelve Alfa Romeo. I got it from MS Hobbies. If anybody is looking for F1 or sports car kits, decals and detailing items the service at MS Hobbies is the best I have ever dealt with.
  10. I would like to see some of the trucks from the DAKAR rally.
  11. Thaey have been around awhile. They concentrate on F1 and sports cars for the most part. They do curbside and and very detailed with engine kits. They are mostly white metal and photo-etched parts.
  12. Maybe not as artistic as some but definitely some of the clearest, most concise and informative are TAMEO(1/43 scale) kits 3D Cad versions
  13. I am not sure this is the rarest but it tends to cost the most. It is 1/8 scale.
  14. Try ZYMOL brand wax instead. Other waxes tend to remove the Future. Zymol deepens and enhances the gloss and it smells good too due to coconut oil in it.
  15. Instead of using solvents try using a staeming hot damp clot pressed over the decal. It will conform instantly. Use a hot damp Q-tip for smaller areas. Do not hold it there just press and lift. I do allot of race cars and I could not do them without this technique. See the Martini Lancia I did below, all the striping is decal.
  16. The Paasche Talon TG3-F set with three tips and needles is a purchase he'll be very happy. with. I have had allot of aurbrushes over the years but as soon as I got this one I loved it.
  17. I agree it is good to have both. I use the Talon with the .38mm tip for most painting, it works great with Alclad. I use the Anthem for bigger stuff. The Talon does have a bigger cup than most gravity feeds. I have an Iawta Eclipse HP-CS gravity feed also but the Talon is my favorite airbrush.
  18. Very nice job. What blue did you use? I bought some Testor's lacquer Deja Blue that looks except maybe the flakes are too big. I put some Tamiya TS clear blue over it and it looked better. Testor's sealer does not adhere well. Try using Tamiya's TS-79 semi gloss clear, it sticks better and is more durable. When I do use CF decals I coat them with Future then apply a light coat of TS-79 over top. If you air brush try Alclad's light sheen clear.
  19. Tamiya's Laquer thinner is excellent and should be used for airbrushing decanted TS sprays. Generally paints ready to airbrush should be about the consistency of milk.
  20. For anybody thinking about getting the Talon get the TG-3F set that comes with all three tips .22mm, .38 mm,.66mm and the fan spray head. It also include a hose and a hanger for the airbrush. This will cover all your needs and isn't that much more. I got mine on Amazon for $105 with free shipping.
  21. Try finding very small Evergreen strip and glue in fill in the lines with it and liquid glue like Ambroid Pro-Weld, let dry than sand. Nothing beats plastic for filling plastic.
  22. Monty, I have an Anthem 155 and the Talon. I like the 155 for bigger stuff but the Talon does have a smaller tip(.38 mm) and it is gravity feed. Once you try gravity feed you will definitely like it better, it atomizes paint better at lower psi. It sprays pre-thinned paints like Alclad better than a siphon(jar) feed. The Talon has a bigger cup than most gravity feed airbrushes. It also has a needle limiter that lets you use it like a single action airbrush(see pic below)
  23. I have an Iawata Eclipse HP-CS gravity feed and is great but when I bought the Paasche Talon TG3F set it became my favorite. It is the nicest airbrush Paasche has ever made. The large paint cup is especially nice. The cheap knock offs are bad because poor machining tolerances they need extra O-rings and seals that wear out. Please checkout Don Wheeler's excellent airbrush review site at this link https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/ before buying anything.
  24. Broadcasts from and about a fictitious desert town called Nightvale. Please try it you will like it. A new podcast comes about twice a month. You wll be hooked. http://podbay.fm/show/536258179
