  1. They should fit. The only difference in the kit is the front brake duct parts.
  2. I would not use that silver. That is Tamiya's answer to Alclad Crome. Take a good look at the silver on the pic you posted TS-17 is a better choice for silver car bodies. a liitle white added to the silver gives it that creamy silver you see on Porsche and Mercedes cars.
  3. Line the inside of the booth with white freezer paper and change it once in awhile it keeps the booth free of permanent paintbuild up.
  4. Mine, the beautiful Lotus LMP2
  5. Spot painting by spray will not fill the hole. Using a very small brush but a drop of clear in the hole let dry thouroghly then sand and polish. This works better with laquers but should work if allowed to dry.
  6. I will second this one. Of the four I have including an Iwata the Talon is my favorite.
  7. Check dDon Wheelers excellent airbrush reviews here https://sites.google.com/site/donsairbrushtips/
  8. Another thing an airbrush is better at is when having to mask and paint window frames and the black trim on window units. Small parts that need a second color masked and painted. On close examination and airbrush will always do a better job at painting small parts than a spray can or brush will do, paint thickness is more in scale. Some parts need to be painted but should not look painted(molded plastic, vinyl etc.) and airbrush does this much better.
  9. Try one of these to hold the light or lens; Then use a tooth pick and apply this(the strongest white glue):
  10. Spray cans are great for bodies and chassis but once you use an airbrush yowill not regret getting one. Some of the things you can do with one the you cannot without are unlimited colors to spray, ins scale painting of smaller parts, you can contol the sheen and shine of paint, better color density, exhaust system blueing and shading and use of photo etch stencils for tires lettering etc. Ther just plain fun to use. I have 4 of them. Iawata Eclipse BCS(gravity feed), Paasche Talon, Badger 155 Anthem and 175 Crescendo. I would not build without them.
  11. One of the best things to get dcals to stick is Future. To get them to conform use a hot damp cloth pressed over the decal it wil comform instantly, use hot damp Q-Tip for smaller areas. I could not have decalled this JACCS Accord without this technique. All decal solvents are too strong for Tamiya's decals. This car was painted white all else is decal.
  12. This one is one of my favorites. It's on a very big box for this 1/12 scale kit. The cutaaway art on some of Tamiya's boxes are a great reference for detaling. I have bought some kits because I really liked the artwork.
  13. Tamiya TS-36. If not airbrushing use many light coats to build up the color.
  14. Just got his one from mshobbies.com. It has a beautiful set of treaded rain tires.
  15. These are both painted and ready to build. The Bentley is painted Ford Dark Jade(Duplicolor) With TS-13 clear over top and TS-14 Gloss Black. allot of people that build this forget to paint the black area but it is absolutely correct, it doesn't show up well in pics. The Lexus is TS-17 Gloss Aliminum with TS-13 clear, the red is TS-49 Bright Red.
  16. This one is finished. you can see the WIP here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69598&hl=ferrari
  17. Nice job so far. When I built this kit the deca lmade to make the R on the GTR emblem red does not work to well. I carefully masked and airbrushed with much better results. Doing the silver slash decals that go in the front hood openings are a ltttle tricky to line up and get the right decal in the right place. Other than that it's a nice easy build.
  18. The nose is high to allow as much air under the car to the leading edge of the splitter. The front suspensions is also angled to allow free airflow through that area. The drivers legs are somewhat elevated when seated in the car.
  19. Are you saying I have a famous 1/2 mile dirt track near my house?
  20. Not one bit. I am true beliver in every thing F1 is. The technology, the passion and the history. Where would automotive development be if everything was like the dinasours NASCAR runs?
  21. I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and my eyes find the new Ferrari F138 F1 car a work of art.
  22. This was presented as the steering wheel in the new Lotus F1 car. The Ice Cream button is for Kimi(he loves ice cream)
  23. Try this if you do not have an airbrush. it's acrylic based and comes off with ammonia if you mess up and want to do it over. I used it on this exhaust system
  24. An easy way to tell if it is laquer or enamel is to read the instructions where it talks about recoat times. If it says recoat anytime it's laquer, if it says recoat within an hour or wait X amount of time it's enamel. That's how I knew Krylon changed from a good Acrylic laquer to the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH enamel it is now.
