  1. Was this a proposed product? Or did it actually hit the shelves? I know both models appeared separately. Both the Falcon promos and kits in a different box from that shown. The talk about how small the Levacar model is. The "real" full-size Levacar was small. It was designed to seat one person. I too don't exactly when AMT switched to shrink wrapping their model kits on a regular basis. But, just because they didn't do it on every kit, doesn't mean they could not have done it on a special release like the above. At the same time I don't know, as noted, if the set actually made it the stores. And if did. Whether it was shrink wrapped or not.
  2. Despite, or maybe because of, its simplicity, AMT's '63 Corvette coupe is still one of my all time favorite kits. Have fun with it.
  3. Okay, I tried the Model Master Instant Adhesive a couple of days back. It really seems no better or worse than other CA glues I've tried in the past. It's a little too liquidy coming out. But it worked okay. But, I can see no real reason why I'd buy their CA glue over others in future. And yet I'm not not unhappy with the product.
  4. The above is GM's Firebird XP-21, later known as Firebird I, turbine car from 1953. This the first I've ever known of a plastic kit of the car. Very, very cool. I wonder if the molds still exist? And if they do, who might have them? I've never heard of Paragon before this, either.

  7. I guess I won't be adding a Revell '57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham to my collection in the near future. A quick search on the web, and I was surprised to see what the last reissues, new and unbuilt, are now going for! The next time I see one at a reasonable price price, I'm going to for sure buy it.
  8. After reading the above article, I've decided I need one. I've been thinking about it for a while now. And I think it's time to get one.
  9. The good old Renwal Visible V-8 was one of those great kits, until Revell got a hold of it, and simplified it. Eliminating the electric "starter" motor and light up spark plus. If they would ever restore that kit back to its original glory, I easily would buy another one.
  10. The Slant Four was standard and available in several different forms on the '61 - '63 Tempests. The Olds version of the 215 was offered in '61 and '62 on the Tempest, but rarely seen in one. The Pontiac 326 became available as an option on the '63 Tempests.
  11. I was at a local hobby store yesterday (Hub Hobby in Richfield, MN), and saw something new. At least it was new to me. Model Master Instant Adhesive For Plastic Models. I know it's basically another "Superglue." But, has anybody in our community tried it? Is it any good? Any tricks in using it? Or things to watch out for? Testors makes three interesting claims on its packaging. 1. It cures in 10-20 seconds. 2. It won't attack paint. And 3. It cures clean and clear. Sounds good. But is it?

  13. I don't think this is off topic for here. And I for one would look forward to a movie on this. One of my favorite cars, the Ford GT and GT40 came from this battle.
  14. Well. Until someone reissues or offers a new Mutt II* Cobra II model, this will have to hold me over. It's GreenLight's 1/64th scale die cast of Jill Munroe's 1976 Ford Mustang II Cobra II. A very nice replica it is too. Sad to say, I'm not a big fan of Charlie's Angels. And I'm more interested in car than the packaging. So I will be removing the car from the package and throwing the actual packaging in the garbage. Ruining the value of a "mint in the package" toy car. * Calling Mustang IIs, Mutt IIs is for me a term of affection. Everybody likes to put them down. I actually liked them the first time I saw them back in late 1973. The only mistake I think that Ford made was not offering a V8 in the Mutt IIs that first year. But, they figured that one out pretty quickly, and fixed it the '75 model year. Mustang should always a least offer a V8 to help maintain its performance image. Even if a 4 or V6 is all it really needs.

  20. I loved these pre-painted ProShop kits. I bought and built several. I wish they would have continued on with the series.
  21. Welcome to 2018. It's interesting I can afford to buy these kits now. Back when they were originally out, at the $2.00 it cost for a kit, they seemed harder to come by for me. I'm just happy to be able to buy these kits now. Now that I have money. I doubt I would have had the money to buy any kits back in the days of the Weimar Republic. Plus I don't think there were many kits I was interested in picking up during that time. Not a lot of plastic kits back then. And I'm not good at whittling wood.
  22. Finding the right color paint is part of the reason I've never gotten very far with my Piranha drag car. I'd love to hear from others out there on suggestions for matching the correct color. Since I don't use an airbrush, I need something in a spray can.

  24. I have both of the JoHan kits above. And they're both beautiful kits. Unlike most old JoHan kits, the '31 Cadillacs and '35 Mercedes are almost state of the art still.
