AMT/Round-2 reissue of '67 Shelby GT-350
unclescott58 replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Revell diecast works just fine. Plus, when I build my '68, I'll need those parts to keep it a GT500. It should be noted, I'm really have no problems with AMT's '67 Shelby GT350. Other than it's a small block car rather than a big block car. Years ago, I build AMT's '67 Mustang GT based on the same kit. And was very happy with the results. Though I would have preferred the 390 in it, over the Hi-Perf 289. Again, nothing wrong with the Hi-Pref 289. I just like a 390 in a '67 Stang better. And in a post '66 Shelbys, the 428. And as noted, my Revell '67 Shelby GT500 looks just fine in my collection. Especially with ol' Shel leaning against the car. -
Ferrari's new single seater

Another modern car I like the looks of. Very pretty. -
Steve, the above photo shows us a '72 Kingswood Estate. Not a '73. Did your friend have a '72 or '73?

Still looks great.

Two very nice looking models. Despite being a GM guy, more than a Ford guy, I like the overall look of the '53 Ford over the '53 Chevy. It has a slightly more modern look to my eyes. I'm not saying the Chevy is bad. It's just in this case I like Ford better. In the case of Tulio's builds, he did an equally good job on both of them.

AMT/Round-2 reissue of '67 Shelby GT-350
unclescott58 replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The rear end doesn't bother me. I'm passing on it because it represents a GT350, rather than a GT500. I guess my diecast Revell '67 GT500, with Carrol Shelby figure, will continue to fill that need. -
I could not resist. I love those big old Buicks. And a '74 Estate Wagon besides! I knew I had to have one.

Built the exact same kit last summer. I did not use any paint on mine. Nor did I do any rigging. I also built Academy's 1/1000 scale version for comparison to Polar Lights 1/1000 starship Enterprise kit. Because I had so much fun building those two, I also purchased Academy's 1/400 scale Titanic. In last year I haven't gotten as far as I would like with that kit. The kit comes with rigging, and I'm more than a little intimidated by that.

Beautiful! Both of them.

A nice Ed.

Is this built with the new reissue? Or an original kit? It is gorgeous. I can't wait to get my hands on one. I hope that someone will show us what this kit looks like unbuilt too. A good kit review with photos of the unbuilt contents of the box. And it would be nice to know if there is anything to watch out for in building this kit? It would also be interesting to see the above with a 1/20 or 1/18 scale model car or truck, for comparison. Will it look good behind my MPC 1/20 1970 AMX?

Very nice. One has to love a Red Mustang ragtop.
-
A very sharp looking Willys.

Ghost of the Red Baron has been high on my want list for over 40 years now. I hope it comes back to haunt my collection soon.

I just finished building Revell's '68 Mustang within the last month. Despite what everybody says, I think it's a very nice kit overall. The metal can barely be seen on the finished kit. And the screws don't bother me at all. They're a lot smaller, and less obvious than the screws on a lot of old kits from the 1960's. Everything went together and looked just fine in the end.

I too want to see the above kits brought back. Not the best kits in the world. But, I love the subjects. Another old kit I would love to see if they have the dies for and hopefully see reissued is below.

X-15
unclescott58 replied to Kit Basher's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
The X-15 is very cool. Always has been. Always will be. Another way to earn your astronaut wings back in the 1960's.
