MPC Mustang II Cobra kits
unclescott58 replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting that Marks does not make decals for the version I'd want to build. The dark blue with the white stripes. I'm guessing he has no way of printing white decals? -
No need for an apology. You did nothing wrong. Actually, I want to know more about the two kits you brought up. You say the info you got was from Stevens? Is the '34 the old AMT '34 Ford pickup? And what version of the '77 Ford van are they talking about? And don't ever feel bad about confusing me. It happens all of the time. If I don't understand something I'll ask for clarification. Just don't be offended if and when I do.

Okay, I recognize the Monkeemobile. And I love '62 Buicks. But, I don't know what TV show or movie that particular Buick was in? A nice looking car. Where's it from?

I miss spelled Rob. Are you guys going to attack me on everything here? I'm sorry already. Let's move on. -

Okay, I'm sorry I said anything on this subject. I will say no more on it. ☹️ -

Oh Rod, thanks for only quoting part of my posting. It changes the reflection of my comments. -

Okay. What's going on here? I'm not entitled to my opinion and others are? I'm okay with others disagreeing with me. It's all okay. Wow! -
Yea, Joe, "ss2000." But why? I'm okay with this kit being brought up. At first I just could not figure how it came up in a discussion about AMT's '65 Riv and Piranha drag kit? Dave's comment to me, threw me for a loop when he mentioned a "34" and quoted my posting on this subject. And I didn't refer to a 34 in my posting. It just confused me a bit at first.

That's fine. I'm just bored with it. And I know. I don't have to read every thread. But, for what ever reason, I find these threads a waste of time. Boring. And it is okay if others don't agree with me. A lot of people must enjoy them, since they keep on posting them. And they have every right to continue to do so. At the same time, Phil above, did ask for what we here thought of this posting. Now Phil knows what I think. And he and others here don't have to agree with me. It's all okay. -
34? 34 what? How did that slip in here? Oh! Okay. The '34 Ford pickup. Joe above threw that one in here. The original thread was only talking about AMT's '65 Riviera and Piranha drag car. So I was surprised to see something brought up about a "34." Has Round 2 announced a reissue of their '34 Ford pickup? I'm waiting for that to come back in it's original AMT form. That one is high on my list. For I don't have that one as an AMT or Lindberg kit. I've passed on the Lindberg boxed ones. It just seemed like sacrilege to have offered that model to us in a Lindberg box.

Here we go again! Why worry about it? Nobody is forcing you to buy the thing. I agree it's ridiculous. But, we see these things come up quite frequently. I still haven't been sucked into buying one. And I doubt I ever will. -
Inspiration for my plans on my Mustang II. The Hot Wheels version I mentioned above. And a picture of the Mustang I.

Two, I've finally gotten around to picking up, after debating on them for about 47 years now. I've always been a little fearful of these two. Too many working features. Bad looking drawings in the instruction sheets I've seen. Also, I've seen few, if any completed kits. (In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a completed Mustang II in the "flesh.") And what I have seen (mainly the Cougar II) did look all that great. Yet I've always wanted to build both. I like the looks of the two cars a lot. So I decided to take the plunge, and buy them both. I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found in each box. Some primitive design elements. I excepted that. But, overall way better than I expected. And after doing some minor subassembly, I'm even more impressed. I'm not a big fan of opening doors on most kits. Throw in opening doors, trunk, and hood, your normally looking at a nightmare on kits designed when these two first came out. As you can see from the photo below, the Mustang IIs work quite well. As far as what I plan on doing with each kit. The Cougar II? I'm thinking of painting it Black, instead of the Red used on the real car. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I seem to remember someone doing one in Black. And with the Silver roof, it looked great. (At least it looks great in my mind.) The Mustang II? One big change there. I don't like the White interior with Blue accents. The real Mustang I show car, and one of Hot Wheels versions of the Mustang II, are done in White with Blue stripes and an all Blue interior. This I like a lot better. And how I'll being doing my Mustang II.

MPC Mustang II Cobra kits
unclescott58 replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Last, and I doubt there is a snowballs chance in hell of seeing. But, like Revell's done with certain kits, it would be nice to have a figure of Farrah included with a Cobra II kit. -
MPC Mustang II Cobra kits

I'm not a fan of the '78s, T tops, or the King Cobra variations. I like the early Shelby Mustang look of the '76 and '77s much more. -

Ah, the dark ages at Ertl. Dan's (above) '75 Plymouth Duster hardtop. It's neither a Plymouth Duster, or a "hardtop." What Dan has is a reissue of the MPC '76 Dodge Dart Sport, two-door coupe. Not a bad kit. Other than it's not a Plymouth and the body style is not considered a true hardtop. Ertl near the end of its ownership of AMT and MPC, did a few strange things like the above.

MPC Mustang II Cobra kits

Here's a kit I wish Round 2 would reissue. I still like the looks of the '76 and '77 Cobra IIs. Like the one below. -
Two more I don't need. I have previous releases of both kits.
-
Nothing listed above that I'm interested in. A few months back I got my hands on MPC's '32 Ford sedan delivery. So I don't need the Coke version.
