I love vintage advertising. Here some ads/flyers that would not have appeared in comic books, like my other thread on model ads. These seem to aimed at different audience overall than the comic book ads.

Fur and shedding has been mentioned. When I took my last cat in to be put down a couple of years ago (18 1/2 year old Gus), the veteran offered to cut off a some fur as remembrance. I had to laugh a little, and told her no. I all ready had enough fur around the house to remind me of him for a long time to come. By the way, I still miss the old guy. And I hope he is happy up in cat heaven.

I'm like Cale above. Except I have a larger collection of kits than he is showing. No resolutions. For I just work on what ever inspires at the time. And know with a clean conscience that I'll never finish everything in the end.

Cat are great. Though the best cat I ever had, Rover, use to steel model parts if he could.

Started work on this kit. It's a much nicer kit than I expected. I thought I'd be modifying the kit to eliminate all the of fire chief equipment. But the more I look it, I'm starting to have second thoughts about that. I may just paint the body and fenders, and leave the rest as is. Just polishing the body will not work with this kit. The Red molded parts are almost translucent. One can see the China info printed inside the trunk lid from the outside. Not easily. But it is there. Plus a good shot of paint will just make standout a little better.

Bob you need to learn a little bit of history. Henry Ford had nothing to with the Edsel automobile. Henry died in 1947. 4 years after Edsel his son. The three Ford grandchildren were running the company from the mid 1940's on. They were Henry Ford II, and his Benson and William. And Ford has been huge since the Model T on to today. Though most years from 1926 (the last year for the T) until recent years Chevrolet out sold them. You've been making a lot of interesting statements here based on half truths or out right ignorants of the facts. By the way, you are correct about the Mercury Super Marauder 430 with 3 two-barrels as being the first regular American production car to be rated at 400 h.p. That was in 1958. And 1958 only.

It also needs to be mentioned that the Marauders in '63, '64, '65 were not a Mercury model per say. The Marauder name was used on any Mercury non Breezaway hardtop body style. In 1963 you could have your Marauder in either the Monterey, Monterey Custom, or Monterey S-55 series. For '64 and '65 you could get the Marauder body style in Monterey, Montclair, or Park Lane series. For 1969 and '70 the Marauder and Marauder X-100 were a special, seperate series, from the other Montereys and Marquises of the time. It should also be noted, throughout the late 50's, and most of 60's, the big Mercury V8s were referred to as Marauder engines.

By the way, Mercurys did not come with the 430 after 1960. The biggest engine in a Mercury for '61 was a 390. There were a few rare 427s in full-size Mercurys in the mid-60's. 1966 saw the introduction of the 410 (FE not MEL) and 428. The 429 in '69. But, no factory 430s in Mercurys after 1960.

Very, very nice. I too like the "regular" GS to the GSX. Much cleaner. Muscle with Buick dignity. Speaking quietly, with a big stick. Buick GS with the Stage 1 package. All one needs.

Another good review Adam. I have only one minor disagreement. Your timeline on popularity of mini trucks. They were popular way before the first gas shortage in the fall of '73. Because of the popularity of both the Datsun and Toyota pickup trucks, both Chevrolet (the Isuzu built LUV) and Ford (the Mazda built Courier) had their captive import mini trucks in their lineups over a year before that first shortage. It turned out to be great timing on both their parts.

That works. Lots of real cars and trucks were converted to other things like that, back in the day.

These all appeared in DC (National) Comics in the mid-to-late 60's. I can not vouch or take responsibility for following any of the above tips. The glue in the straw one is questionable to me too. There was another one I wish I could find, about using an old tooth brush, pulling out several rows of bristles, and then using it painting stripes on your model. I question validity of that one too. There were others on improving slot cars performance, and other non model car hobby tips in the series too. Most of them seemed pretty good overall.
