  1. Hands down, the Beech Stagger Wing is my all time favorite airplane. And I love AMT's model of it.
  2. I've got to get my buddy's kid to explain how I can get my pictures posted. I'm very impressed with the two shown above. Nice jobs Jack and Mike. The one I'm building is coming near completion and is looking pretty good also. I sanded off the ridges for the t-top. Used Tamiya primer. And then Tamiya Yellow TS-16. With a black interior. The only thing really left to do is paint and assemble the engine. Mount the engine in the chassis. Glue the chassis into the rest of the car and put on the bumpers. It's sitting mocked up. Interior and body done, resting on the loose chassis. And I'm pleased with how it looks so far.
  3. Looking closely at the above flyer, it looks to me like the new Suburban kit has the "barn doors" (in other words the panel doors shown on white Suburban above). The barn doors are great if you tow a trailer. You can still get in the back of the truck with a trailer hitched up. A problem you would find if got the station wagon like fold down tailgate. At first looking in the rear view mirror through the split rear windows of the barn doors take a little getting use to. I've driven Suburbans with both. And easy rear vision or not, I prefer the barn doors. Also looking at the flyer, I do not see a third rear seat in the back. I am hoping the kit offers the third row seating. There is no cargo area to speak of on that generation Suburban with the third row seat in. But, I'd still like the option to build one with the extra back seat.
  4. I agree with you 100% on a GMC version with the Jimmy V6 under the hood. That would be very cool.
  5. Oh. By the way. I may buy the kit. Not because it's a "Yenko" car. But, because I like '69 Corvettes. And from what I remember Revell's '69 Corvette is a pretty good kit. And I may even put the Yenko dealership decal on the back. But, I still say this car is not a special model like the SC cars.
  6. Okay. After reading the above article, what's the big deal behind a Yenko Corvette? This just sound like a regular Corvette you could have gotten through any other Chevy dealer at the time. It was not a specially modified, Yenko SC car, like their special Camaros, Novas, or Chevelles. Or Corvairs and Vegas for that matter. It's just a regular Corvette sold through Yenko Chevrolet. So is a Caprice, or for that matter, a Chevette sold through Yenko Chevrolet any more special or collectible as one sold at another dealer? This does not seem like a big deal to me. What am I missing?
  7. Ah, it was the late 80's. And I forgot about the '70 Goat. Another one that reappeared after the '72 annual was done. And another one I would buy if it came back. Come on Round 2, what is the status on these two kits? You can't tell me either one would not sell?
  8. Wow! Again I'm amazed at the things I read on this website. There some very knowledgeable people here. I always learn a lot. It's was very interesting especially to read what Wayne and Tim had to say about Chrysler's reasons for having to delay of what became the '71 Mopar B-bodies. They are two sources I found I can normally count on for give the correct facts, rather than rumors. And that's not say that others have been giving false information here. It just that they seem to know the "facts" a little better. Or with a little more detail. That said.... I am confused on the status/history of MPC Road Runner kits. Were the dies updated from the '72 Road Runner kit to create the '73? And with the closeness in the design between the '71 and '72 Road Runners, would we have not lost the '71 in the making of the '72? And yet, years after the '73-'74 Road Runner annuals were done, in the early 80's I believe, MPC reissued a '71 Road Runner kit. And since then have again reissued the '74 a couple of times. Once calling it a GTX, with the '75 (and MPC '76 Road Runner) interior and chassis. So what is in Round 2s inventory of tooling for these cars? I'm guesssing, and this is only a guess, that MPC did not update their '72 Road Runner tool after the annual run. I'm thinking that tooling may have biases for bringing back the '71 in the 1980's. If so, they should still have the dies for the '71 someplace in their inventory.
  9. IMOP you need a lame factory street Cobra II also. A very lame, but cool car at the same time.
  10. Interesting. I like that guy was having fun. But... he may carried a little too far? But, it hurt nobody I assume. So why not be a little funky? I've found over the years, it's okay to do weird things like that. People, mainly other adults, may think you stupid for doing it. But, isn't the goal in life to be happy? And again if your not harming others, what's wrong with being happy and acting a little strange? I do a lot of strange things at my job working with kids. Mainly I sing. The older kids sometimes think it's stupid at first. But it almost always brings a smile to their faces. So my "stupidness" seems to pays off in the long run. I love it when I walk into a school and hear, "Hey, aren't you the sub that sings?" And almost always when I answer yes, they then ask me to sing. Every morning in home rooms or "morning meetings" I sing part of the Good Morning song from Singing in the Rain. Been singing the Good Morning song in schools for the last four years now. The younger kids will ask me if I have an afternoon/goodbye song? So just this last week, I decided to learned Dale Evans and Roy Rogers song, Happy Trials. Which Dale wrote. And so far the kids are loving it. The other strange, but fun thing I do, is go to different events as part of group of Pirates. A friend of mine looks exactly like Captain Jack Sparrow. (If you want to se how close he looks, look up Twin Cities Captain Jack on the web and/or Facebook.) And I play one of his crew. The somewhat dimwited "Dudley the Deck Hand." In fact we're doing a Halloween Walk in a local park this weekend. I tell bad Pirate jokes (and I have many). Lose many sword fights to kids. And in general have a great time. Some events we do for charity. But others we get paid for. How can you beat that? Getting paid to act like a fool. I love it. So, I'd encourage that race marshal to keep on being funky. After all, would we have ever known about him if he wasn't? It's amazing. People from around the world have now seen this guy. How many of us can say the same of ourselves?
  11. I like these stupid mini boxes. And I don't know why? I always end up leaving them face down in the real box they came in. Yet I'm glad they are there, and hope Round 2 keeps on including them with more kits in the future. I know there is no logic to why I want them to continue with them. I just do.
  12. You need a blue '76 Mustang II, Cobra II for your collection. Not a true Shelby. But, Ford paid Carol some money for using the "Shelby" look on the cars at the time. A lame and yet cool car at the same time.

  14. I've seen the fake Newhart Olds on the web before. I'd buy it if they released it. I like the looks of the '74 - '76 Olds 88, Buick LeSabre, and Pontiac Catalina two-door hardtops. I like them more now, than I'd did when they were new.
  15. I'd love to see someone do an FC in styrene. Another vehicle that's been ignored for way too long.
  16. One I suspect is lost is the '32 Ford sedan that first came with AMT's '40 Willys. That's the one I'd love to see come back, if it can.
  17. Getting at the gas cap in your Corvette with the luggage rack, was not a problem unless you had luggage on the rack. The bars of the rack were spaced wide enough to get easy access to your gas cap. But, stop for gas and you had to take off your luggage to fill up your Vette.
  18. Thank you. Looking at the car in the link, the kit does look like it's a Murphy.
  19. I still would like more clarity on the above questions. Are these Monogram Classic Cars, the Duesenberg SJ roadster, and the two Mercedes 540Ks, based on real cars or not? And if so, does anybody know of any pictures of the real cars these were based on?
  20. Beautiful model!
  21. I too would love one. The '71 Road Runner has always been cool. Come on Round 2, bring it back.
  22. Very nice job Harry. I'm impressed with what I'm seeing.
  23. I think you did pretty good building this kit. The fit of the doors, hood, and trunk lid look bad. I'm guessing after seeing the amount of work you put into this kit, that that is a design flaw in the kit. I'm curious. What is the history of this kit? And when was it first tooled up?
  24. Wow! Very nicely done. Haven't seen one of those in years.
