Revell/Mongram makes a very nice '64/'65 convertible that was offered with Indy pace car decals at one point. And they also offer a Shelby fastback based on the same basic tooling. It too is very nice. What I'd like to see is a regular '65 coupe and plain non Shelby '65 fastback. Using either the old AMT tooling. Or based off of newer Monogram tool. I like both. At the same time, even though I like the Mongram convertible, if AMT ever offered their old kit as a convertible, I'd buy it.

I can spend years hunting for that certain kit. As soon as I find it. And pay big bucks for it. A model company will announce they are reissuing it in the next month or two. At a lot less money than I paid.

I build cars both ways. But in general I prefer fenders.

Like most others here (so far), I too prefer the 3.

I'm still interested in knowing where this came from? It's a great little clip. I love Scotty's reaction. But, I'd love to know what he he is saying also.

I'd still like to see this reissued. I built the Switches '32 sedan last summer. It was an okay kit. Not nearly as nice as Revell's or AMT's '32s. Just okay. But, as far as I know, the above is the only '32 kit with the proper rear door to build a sedan delivery. So I want one.

Building my first motorcycle. MPC's recently reissued Honda 750. Has got me looking at other motorcycle kits. Revell's Harley Electra-Glide is one I'd really love to add to my collection. I hope Revell will consider reissuing it in the near future. But, in the threads here on the Honda, I don't see a lot of interest in bike kit in general. Is the Honda (750 or Trail 70) selling? And should Revell consider reissuing any of theirs?

Yea, it's a shame that Revell has not offered us a notchback of their nice '65 (Monogram) Mustang kit.

I wish the old Jo-Han kits, with errors or not, could be reissued. Wrong dashboards and interiors don't bother me too much. Look at AMT's '66 Buick Wildcat that has been reissued several times over the years. Right from the start, back in 1966, it never had the right dashboard or interior. They just took their '65 Wildcat and updated the exterior. So it's always been wrong. Would it have been nice to have the correct dash and interior at the time? Yes. But, would I have known it was wrong in 1966? Probably not. Today I do notice when things like dashboards are wrong in kits. In a newly tooled kit, this would not make me happy. In an old reissued kit, I'm willing to forgive things a little more. And would be happy just to get the kit back.

Can you imagine what some modelers are going to say if this is ever reissued. Poor chassis detail. No engine. Not even an interior on the last one I got. When, or if, this ever gets reissued, wait for the bitching to begin. (Not from me. I welcome these old kits in what ever form they may come.)

True. But most of the old '58 annuals would be the only game in ton of those cars too. I like AMT's old '66 Mustang. I think it's a great kit. Despite Revell/Monogram's very nice '65 Mustangs, I'd buy more of the AMT's if they bought out the fastback or convertible, or back dated theirs to a '65. How the car looks from the outside. The looks of the body. Are more important that the chassis and engine detail to me. Again, I prefer a kit with an engine in particular. But, I really just prefer having the car itself looking right over all. So if Round 2 could, I'd love to see the old '58 annuals, or other kits like them reissued. I'm just worried about about the people complaining if they buy one of those, and see the lack of engine and chassis detail on them. They'll have a hemorrhage, or a coronary, or something if they ever confront these.

Feel a need to bring this thread back. I keep hoping somebody from Round 2 follows these threads. And consider reissuing this kit. (You can tell it's a slow day day at work for me. I'm working a "Time To Think" room in an elementary school today. And so far it's been quite in here. That's a good thing. So you may see me pull on other old threads today, too.)

I too would buy those simple 1958 annuals if they could ever be found and reissued. But, look at the recent thread on AMT's reissued 1966 Mustang. A lot of modelers would flip out and complain about the lack of detail. Look at the chassis and lack of engines in those! Now this doesn't bother me one bit. I like curbsides as much as the more detailed kits. But, other, younger modelers, will never understand these kits. And we'd end up listening to a lot of whining about them.

In the right doses nostalgia can be fun. Living in the past may not be a good thing. But, visiting it once in a while is okay.

As Mike above notes, this is a 50(+) year old tooling. And the way most kits were back in 1960's. I still like these kits. They look great when they're done. I don't flip my models over much to admire the chassis detail. Does the model look good sitting on the shelve? This one can. I do like seeing a motor under the hood. The under hood detail maybe not be much, but it's what we expected back then, for the most part. There were kits with more detail back when this kit first came out. But, they were much harder to build. And rarely turned out as well as the old AMT's. In the late 60's and early 70's I rarely bought any other kits other than AMTs or MPCs, because they offered the cars I liked, and could be built well with the skills I had at the time. I particularly remember having lots of troubles with Revell car kits from that time period. Revell kits had more detail, but they didn't go together as well, or offer me as many options for building as the AMTs or MPCs. Now, with the skills I have, I can make those old Revells look pretty good. And Revell's new stuff is great. But, I still sometimes like the simplicity of the old AMT and MPc annuals. Enjoy the kit. Do the best you can. It's really not a bad kit if you look at it for what it is.

I'd still love to see a review. Or even see one that has been built.

I have a '72 sitting in waiting. I had to fix the "A" pillars. The chrome is bad. I need to send those parts off to Chrome-Tech. Beyond that it's complete and looks great. Still a favorite car of mine.

The 60's, through the early 70's. The small bumper 911s are the only ones I really like. I like the petite chrome bumpers and bright window frames. The bigger bumpers, blacked out trim, puffy fenders and whale tail spoilers turned me off.

Yea, I just built the front wheel. And I'm having troubles getting the tire to set well on the wheel. The black plastic pieces within the rims seem to be the problem.
