  1. I've got a '67 friction T-bird Chris. Sorry to say it's not sale. Even through it is molded (painted?) in the ugliest lime green you'll ever see. Scott
  2. Any idea on how many "street" legal GT-40s of all types were sold in the US back in the day? And how expensive were they? And was quality as bad on the street Mk Is as I've read they were with the Mk IIIs? I assume the race cars were indivually prepared and did not have the quality control issues of Mk IIIs. It's interesting to read Car and Driver's review of the Mk III written back in 1967. They were not impressed. The build quality was not good at all. Especially for a car priced at $18,000. The price they claimed of about 7 new Mustangs at the time! Scott
  3. I like both models, but I'm really impressed with the way the Blazer turned out. I've thought about trying to build a stock version myself, but questioned if it was worth doing with that kit or not. Scott
  4. I want to second the request to see more photos. I love Austrailian cars and am always interested in knowing more about them. Never about the promos of Australian car before this. Very cool! Oh, and Chris is right about wheelbase difference between the Falcon and Comet. Scott
  5. For bodies, I only use lacquer paints now days. Quicker drying time. No orange peel. Scott
  6. Very nice job. I'm impressed. Scott
  7. Very cool. Did riding the "short bus" have same meaning back then as it does today? I don't remember see anything at our schools other than the big ones back then. I know the small ones were made. You'd see them in truck brochures from time to time. I always assumed they were use in more rural areas. Any how, again very nice job. Looks as good as the picture of the real thing. Scott
  8. Got a Revell (Fujimi) GT-40 Mk II on eBay for just under $30, with shipping. Got the #2 car. Which I believe was the '66 Daytona winning car. Looking forward to building this. The only other "LeMans" type sports car I want a model of now, is a '70 Gulf-Porsche 917. Again Fujimi makes one, but prices are a little rich for me right now. Rick (Mark IV), as far as street legal Mk Is, were there any brought into the United States at the time? I thought they tried to, but they could not pass mainly the goverment headlamp regulations. Both the headlamps themselves and the height of the lamps were a problem. The Mk IIIs were built mainly with this problem in mind. Between the outrageous price, very poor build quality, and some say the looks, this made the Mk IIIs very poor sellers. And with changing regulations coming in the US for 1968, it wasn't worth continuing the project. I don't know the history of street legal GT-40s in the US beyond that. I know serveral Mk Is were sold as road cars in Europe. Scott
  9. Looks very nice. Good job. Scott
  10. Another nice one Harry. I really like the etched wind wings. Is that a decal? Or something else? Scott
  11. Very nice GT40 Mk II. Just won the same kit off of eBay today, for under $30 (with shipping). I'm looking forward to building it. Any words of advice or warning? My plans are to use your suggestions for painting the kit. I hope mine turns out as well. Scott
  12. Wow! I would have never guessed she was as old as she was. She looked good for years after the Beverly Hillbillies. RIP Donna/Elly Mae. Scott
  13. Other than the decals, why is this kit a turd? It looks pretty good to me. Your not the first person I've read complaining about this kit. I have one in storage, waiting to be built. Again, it does not look too bad to me. Scott
  14. Looks very good. Nice model. Scott
  15. Looks good. I like it. Scott
  16. Yea your right. I misinterpreted what was being said. So I guess I am alone in my opinion on this one. Oh well. Scott
  17. Now that you mention it Mark, the XK Falcon (the first Australian Falcons) was not offered in Australia until September of 1960. Then sold in that form with no major changes through August of 1962. So it does seem odd that the promo would be labeled as a '60. Since I've never heard of Ausie Falcon promo before this, I'm beginning to question this one. A convention of some sort? Or maybe somebody is trying to trick others (and I'm not saying Chris) with a reversed photo. Or accidentally reversed a photo. I can not see the license plate well enough to see if that maybe the case. The more I think about it, the more question it. Can anybody out there confirm that Ford made RHD Falcon promo? Scott
  18. I agree, Hemming's Classic Car doesn't measure up to their old Special Interest Autos magazine. I wish they would have keep that one going. I like that it came out only every other month. It covered everything that now requires buying three monthly magazines. Plus it was set up and indexed in a way that made it easy to reuse the magazine for future reference. They took something great that worked, and tried to give us too much of a good thing. I miss SIA. Scott
  19. Most things to be issued by Round 2, Moebius, or Revell, car wise this year. Beyond that, I'm hoping find a nice Gulf-Porsche 917K at price I can afford to pay. Scott
  20. Oh good, I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Showing all of your year's work at once is too much for me. I like to look at models one at time. So I've been avoiding the year end threads. Thanks for posting this thread. It nice to see I'm not alone. Scott
  21. I like it! Very cool. Scott
  22. A job I use to have, had me traveling all over the United States. One year, I saw snow while driving through mountains in Arizona weeks before we had any snow back home. Despite what one thinks, it does snow in both California and Arizona. Scott
  23. I hate those vanity plates. I don't get them half of the time. Like the above. Explain its meaning to us slower ones. Scott
