  1. That's why I like the word "appraise".
  2. Ah yes, the infamous "nut-buster" shifter!
  3. They are pretty similar, but it's different *enough* to avoid being a copyright infringement
  4. If he used lacquer and all he had were a few spits, he might even be able to get away with sandng the spitty parts and polishing it out. If we're talking about enamel, I'd strip it with EZ-Off
  5. What kind of paint did you use?
  6. The jury only heard the written version of Spirit's "Taurus", not the version that was recorded which is somewhat different. Both songs are in the same key (Amin), and share the same tempo although the lead figure is ascending in STH and descending in Taurus, making them contrapuntal harmonies.
  7. To be fair, I do live in a sort of self-imposed cultural vacuum
  8. If it's the DAL 1695 product, that stuff takes a loooong time to dry and never really gets hard
  9. It works pretty good on stuff that isn't fazed by alcohol, you still need to scrub the primer loose with a toothbrush but the brake fluid works- I get the cheapest stuff available
  10. Pure denatured alcohol can be found in the paint section of most any home improvement store- the stuff I have is made by Kleen-strip and is called "SLX" I normally use DOT3 brake fluid for stripping primer
  11. In the summer of 1972 I was visiting my father in Wellton, AZ when it hit 127
  12. Perhaps people praise an unworthy model to encourage the builder to build more, so that they might improve in time. Just a thought, I don't actually do that myself.
  13. Yes, Tamiya plastic is soft- if you use a good sharp blade it cuts off the sprue like butter
  14. One time I pulled up behind a minivan on my RD400 and noticed they had a "start seeing motorcycles" bumper sticker so I tried to get the driver's attention to give them the thumbs-up, but they were too busy diddlin with their mobile phone to notice me.
  15. The best way to make kids want your attention is to ignore them
  16. Last year I caught a couple of 16-inchers at the park
  17. Some great ideas in this thread
  18. I caught a couple of nice rainbow trout in the city park in Eugene today, I left just in time to beat a downpour. Gonna have 'em for supper tonight
  19. To anneal non-ferrous metals you heat the metal to cherry red and quench it in water.
  20. Yes, more coats will make it purpler up to a certain point- then any further coats start to obscure the reflective undercoat and the candy effect is lost, resulting in a drab and muddy appearance. Don't do that Also make sure your primer will hold up to the silver backer- I'd apply several light mist coats rather than a wet coat I put quite a bit of paint on this, there's also a misting of purple pearl over the candy purple Good luck with it!
  21. I have some old 100% DEET mosquito repellant that works a treat for that purpose
  22. Sounds like "Surf City" with one leftover, lol There were 20 guys in my class, one of the girls was Walter Brennan's granddaughter
