  1. Thanks guys, even though I didn't do a whole lot to it lol.
  2. That made for one mighty fine looking low rider, well done!
  3. Hey thanks again for all the love guys. Thanks, combining the two kits was pretty easy, thankfully hahaha. I kinda think the same on styling too. I love the Galaxies, but these Merc's really come to life when hot rodded up. Thanks Josh. Going into the build I was torn on colors, it was going to be either this or a gold on gold combo. Think it would have looked sharp that way too.
  4. Felt the need to slam something together without a lot of work so I brought this to the bench this week and cranked it out. Really only did a little paint detailing here and there and called it good. The side mirrors are molded in a light, sorta metallic, gray much lighter than the body, so I shot them with some Tamiya TS42 Gun Metal with a light coat of TS71 Smoke over it for a pretty close match. I love the two toned interior, but the seats were all blue except the centers, the real ones are black along the sides & backs so I painted them accordingly. Some flat clear was sprayed over everything in the interior to knock down the shine, and finally painted the few aluminum trim pieces. The chassis plate is nothing to really show, but did paint up the simplified molded in suspension & exhaust. Same goes for under the hood, though it is a bit more detailed (even though I believe the engine represents as a Z06). Was a fun build and love the looks of it. Some of these Maisto offering make for some pretty good lookers, even with as simple as they are.
  5. That is very well done, congrats.
  6. Nice build Mike! When Sr. died I lost some of my interest in NASCAR too, but kept watching, albeit with a slowly dwindling interest, until the COT came out. I really haven't watched it much since, a few laps here and there throughout the seasons.
  7. I like the outside of the box thinking on this one Ray, all those custom touches really flow well. Another sharp Cobra for your collection.
  8. Thanks guys!
  9. Beautifully done, she's a looker for sure. Great work on all the chrome trim.
  10. I've always wondered about this kit and have thought about picking one up as a quick slam-together build. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and encounters with it. Yours turned out great, and those wheels were a great choice.
  11. Much appreciation guys, glad you like it and thanks for your nice words. It was a really fun build.
  12. Dude that looks killer, very well done! Those velocity stacks came out beautiful. This gives me more inspiration to build mine. Been looking for a color that's close to that burnt orange in aerosol (don't have an airbrush) but haven't found any to my liking yet.
  13. Very cool Corvair, Steve. Well done! You sure don't see these often.
  14. Oh man is that ever a beauty. It definitely could pass as a 1:1.
  15. Very nice! Such a clean build. Those greens really work well together, what are they?
  16. This is a project I've been wanting to build for a long time, and finally got around to it. Recently finished this weekend, I may still add a side mirror down the road if I come across one I like. First thing I did was ditch the promo-style chassis in favor of the chassis & drivetrain from the AMT '60 Starliner. I fit pretty well, with just some minor trimming and adjustments needed. I used some parts box leaf springs and front spindles to raise it up some for that cool street machine stance from back in the day. Competition Resins Teardrop, AMT parts pack mags & tires. There's numerous other parts box pieces sprinkled around as well, exhaust, shocks, traction bars, tach, shifter & console. For the interior I did cut out the floor from the Marauder tub and used the Starliner's floor. Those long chrome strips along the fendertops really gave me grief and I'm not real happy with them but I can accept them as they are. Paints are Duplicolor Polar White and for the interior it's Rustoleum Regal Red. Thanks for taking a gander and any comments/questions.
  17. Your paintwork is beautiful! The understated color works so well on it. Well done!
  18. Thanks guys!
  19. That, my friend, is extremely realistic looking. Outstanding work on blending the two kits and the details in all the other facets of this build. I really love those weld seams too, great touch. Congrats!
  20. Very impressive, even if it's not your best work! That stance is much better than what the kit does out of the box. Great job on bringing that big old Cammer to life too. I've been tempted lately to build mine, and will use yours as an inspiration and guide of sorts when I do. How did you remove the rear quarter window louvers, and, did you make those windows or get some from another kit?
  21. I love it. Those paint gremlins you faced gave it a great, well used, character.
  22. That is a beauty! As fellow members have said I wouldn't have imagined this was only your 5th model since coming back to the hobby. Great photography as well. Can't wait to see what else you have coming down the pipeline.
  23. I really appreciate the all those comments guys. While I am really happy with the outcome, I didn't think it would garner so much love. I've learned a lot on this forum since I joined up and have to thank all the great members here with your amazing knowledge, skills, tips, etc. pushing me to always try to improve every build one by one. Thanks again so much to each and every one of you! Will do, I've built a few Mopars with the pistol grip and never done that for unknown reasons! Thanks Bill! This is a great example of what I touched on in the paragraph above. Wow, I don't know if I'm worthy of that but I do thank you very much Ricky. This GTX has become one of my favorite builds I've done, even with as relatively basic as this kit is. I try my best at the photography, too. I don't use anything fancy though, just a Nikon P510 that I've had for about a dozen years, and just shoot in full auto & macro modes. Thanks Jim. It's plain old Testors gray from the little bottle, with some dullcote slapped on over it.
  24. Thanks! Really nothing at all, just how the paint laid down. I used Krylon Short Cuts flat black, IMO it has just the right sheen and texture to it for interiors.
