  1. This is a project I've been wanting to build for a long time, and finally got around to it. Recently finished this weekend, I may still add a side mirror down the road if I come across one I like. First thing I did was ditch the promo-style chassis in favor of the chassis & drivetrain from the AMT '60 Starliner. I fit pretty well, with just some minor trimming and adjustments needed. I used some parts box leaf springs and front spindles to raise it up some for that cool street machine stance from back in the day. Competition Resins Teardrop, AMT parts pack mags & tires. There's numerous other parts box pieces sprinkled around as well, exhaust, shocks, traction bars, tach, shifter & console. For the interior I did cut out the floor from the Marauder tub and used the Starliner's floor. Those long chrome strips along the fendertops really gave me grief and I'm not real happy with them but I can accept them as they are. Paints are Duplicolor Polar White and for the interior it's Rustoleum Regal Red. Thanks for taking a gander and any comments/questions.
  2. Very cool, love it!
  3. Your paintwork is beautiful! The understated color works so well on it. Well done!
  4. Thanks guys!
  5. That, my friend, is extremely realistic looking. Outstanding work on blending the two kits and the details in all the other facets of this build. I really love those weld seams too, great touch. Congrats!
  6. Very impressive, even if it's not your best work! That stance is much better than what the kit does out of the box. Great job on bringing that big old Cammer to life too. I've been tempted lately to build mine, and will use yours as an inspiration and guide of sorts when I do. How did you remove the rear quarter window louvers, and, did you make those windows or get some from another kit?
  7. I love it. Those paint gremlins you faced gave it a great, well used, character.
  8. That is a beauty! As fellow members have said I wouldn't have imagined this was only your 5th model since coming back to the hobby. Great photography as well. Can't wait to see what else you have coming down the pipeline.
  9. I really appreciate the all those comments guys. While I am really happy with the outcome, I didn't think it would garner so much love. I've learned a lot on this forum since I joined up and have to thank all the great members here with your amazing knowledge, skills, tips, etc. pushing me to always try to improve every build one by one. Thanks again so much to each and every one of you! Will do, I've built a few Mopars with the pistol grip and never done that for unknown reasons! Thanks Bill! This is a great example of what I touched on in the paragraph above. Wow, I don't know if I'm worthy of that but I do thank you very much Ricky. This GTX has become one of my favorite builds I've done, even with as relatively basic as this kit is. I try my best at the photography, too. I don't use anything fancy though, just a Nikon P510 that I've had for about a dozen years, and just shoot in full auto & macro modes. Thanks Jim. It's plain old Testors gray from the little bottle, with some dullcote slapped on over it.
  10. Thanks! Really nothing at all, just how the paint laid down. I used Krylon Short Cuts flat black, IMO it has just the right sheen and texture to it for interiors.
  11. Beautiful! Yet another inspiring build of this kit!
  12. Oh man is that ever nice! Makes me want to start on mine, just need to figure out who's car to build yet lol.
  13. Thanks Snake. I have a few other pics I had taken. Anything in particular you'd like to see?
  14. I really appreciate all the nice comments guys! This is a pretty decent kit. Like the other Monogram musclecar kits it's fairly simplified, but does build up well and looks the part. One regret I have is not deepening the panel lines to get some wash in them. After primer & paint they got buried a fair bit and figured they would look a little messy if I tried throwing some Tamiya panel line in them. Oh well.
  15. That's a beauty, and a great shade of blue. Well done!
  16. Fresh off the bench today. A pretty straight forward build, wired up the engine bay, Keith Marks decals, and Fireball Modelworks tire lettering decals. I separated the exhaust from the rear axle, threw on some aluminum tips, and added some parts box shocks since none are supplied with this kit. Hopefully the Mopar gods don't strike me down, as it is painted in Model Master Huggar Orange. I love how it ended up looking in this color. A fun build that has become one of my favorites among my herd of builds. Thanks for taking a gander and any comments & questions.
  17. Love it! Really sharp build of a subject rarely built and seen. Count me in as not caring if it's not exactly correct, as I build in the same fashion. As long as it looks the part and at least fairly close I'm happy!
  18. Sweet Duster Ray! That Metallic Orange suits it well, and the white really sets it off.
  19. All of that surgery paid off handsomely as the end result looks fabulous. Very creative design conversion for sure, and I absolutely love it!
  20. Beautiful Galaxie John!
  21. Love it! Such a clean build. So sad his life was cut short. I've got this car on the to do list.
  22. All the body mods, the big mill under the hood, the wheels, what's not to love?! Another excellent build, Roger! I really like the finish of the interior and the blacked out trim & bumpers too.
  23. Man is that ever a beauty! Excellent build from bumper to bumper. I sure do love those Buicks, thanks for sharing.
  24. Impressive collection indeed!
  25. Beautiful T-bolt John! The adjusted stance looks great! Nice work on all that BMF too. I agree that using old decals can be a nightmare sometimes, glad yours turned out well.
