  1. Here is my finished project. I wasn't really happy with how it turned out, especially since I really enjoyed last years build. Part of that was probably my mindset, since I only completed two models for the year. I am looking forward to next year's though.
  2. ? Lots of great ideas. Might I throw a Tom Daniel's theme into the mix.
  3. Here is my entry. Revell 1967 Chevelle. (started with a rebuilder) Disk brakes and exhaust came from a '90s AMT nascar kit. Wheels and tires from the parts box. The engine? Well....now this is where things start to get interesting. (switching to CB mode now) You see, I have this engine builder north of the border (Canada 'eh). He is a wizard with an engine. It's just a little 'ol twin turboed, EFI, 572 b..b..c. He wouldn't even tell me how much hp it was putting out, only that it was in four digits. Every time I threw a number at him, all he would say is "higher 'eh". And sneaky? He is the king of sneakiness. He crated this bad boy up, packed Red Green dvds around it duct taped the lid on, and covered it with Media Mail stickers. When it arrived at my place, it was mated up with a Tremec 6spd, and a spooled 2:14 geared 12 bolt posi unit. Suspension components were stol....ummm...I mean "borrowed' from a certain black and gold nascar. (I sure hope the museum curators don't notice it sitting on cinder blocks for a few days). A road racer buddy, who shall remain nameless (because he IS nameless), dropped off the wheels and tires. I also hopped the fence and "borrowed" the exhaust from another nascar team. (whichever team you dislike the most, well, that's them) How do I keep this thing running cool you ask. Well , I have coolers on everything you can imagine, including my drivers seat (no way is my butt going to stick to the seat if I can help it). How long can I go on a tank of gas you ask. Well, I really don't know. You see, it has a custom fuel cell that starts in the trunk, between the inner fender wells, right up against the back seat, and from there proceeds to use every available square inch of trunk space, as well as dropping down through the trunk floor where the stock tank would be mounted. I had to take a second mortgage out just to fill that monster with high octane. It really won't matter though, because at a 180, this thing will be turning so low rpms that I can easily sing along to my Sammy Hagar cassette (I...can't drive....155). When I took her out for her debugging shake down, I went by this trooper so fast that when his radar gun alarm woke him up, he looked at it and thought he must be parked to close to the airforce base. I think you will all agree that the back end of a '67 Chevelle is the finest piece of....sheet metal.... that you will ever lay your eyes on....no matter how brief that might be. So when y'al arrive on the west coast, you'll find me kicked back, feet in the sand, holding a glass of Rhetoric bourbon, just watchin the waves. Until then, Keep 'em between the lines.
  4. Last post for tonight. It may not have all the details I wanted it to have...but I love the end result.
  5. Ha! Sorry, no red interior for this beast. ? Interior is installed and chassis nailed down.
  6. Here I am again with some more progress. I have only built two models this year, and this is the second. ? but since I'm feeling better, let's hope next year is better. I have the bmf all finished and the glass in. It's almost there. Interior, chassis, and bumpers should do it. I can smell the salt air.
  7. That is awesome work. I know how blah that engine looks, so all the effort you are putting into it will make a vast improvement.
  8. I was able to attend my first show in 3 years today. Had a great time all the way around. Paid for a table, sold more than I bought, and even brought home more money than I started with. ? I brought home this 1/12 Camaro, misc 1/8 stuff, a 1/43 white metal kit (talk about extremes), resin Chrysler 300 wagon body. A couple bagged 39 ford sedans, 40 convertible, and CJ7. There was also a silent auction. One of the founding members of the model club that puts on the show, died earlier in the year. To help raise money for the widow, they grouped together lots comprised of four models each, all built by the gentleman who passed away. I won two lots. The first eight pics are of the ones I brought home. It was announced at the end of the show that over $1700 was raised through the silent auction. To cap off an already excellent day, one of my entries brought home the blue ribbon in the Box Stock category.
  9. It arrived 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
  10. I read another article earlier. The owners actually had four wing cars, two of each. They were stacked on lifts. They drove two out but could not get back in for these two. They were still on the lifts when the storm hit.
  11. Sorry I missed these posts. I have it finished and need to post it in under glass. Thanks for the kind comments.
  12. This is a beauty. I recently picked one up that is in need of a restoration, but was happy to get it.
  13. Ha! I'm 55 as well, and I did attempt one of these when I was about 10-11. You notice I said "attempt", it was more like I ruined it. I have always wanted a second chance, but prices have been crazy. So even with any little defects, I was happy when a friend told me it had been re-issued. Mine will be here about the end of the month. I will be watching yours for sure.
  14. What a beautiful build. ?
  15. Lots of great work going on here. Both finished as well as progress. I finally have an update. The interior is wrapped up. I need to polish the glass and hope the glue marks are not visible or I will need replacements. Bmf is my nemesis. I need to foil four projects that are stalled because of that.
  16. I really love when someone takes a car that many might say "that's sacrilege", and just do it anyway. I took a 250 GTO and made it into a dirt tracker. ?
  17. I can get it on Hulu. Good thing, because I wore out my DVDs...twice.
  18. The rack might be worth more than the styrene. ?
  19. The owner said he would make me a deal, but I had to take the stands. One is relatively modern, made out of tin, the other one (according to the owner) is about 40 years old and I believe it, it is made out of plywood. He is 73, and has had the hobby shop for decades, but it is time to retire he says.
  20. That is one sweet air brush Jim.
  21. Me too, and it's still the most watched series finale.
