I agree. I spend as much time as possible on two lane hwy. When one has the time, the setting on Google maps that avoids major hwys can lead to wonderful exploration. Back (sort of) on topic, how do you like the Chevelle? ?

I took a road just south of Salt Lake on I-15 that ran diagonally southeast until it connected to 1-70. Quite a few little towns with cars sitting like that beside old garages,shops,etc.

So this year's Cannonball community build entries have to be from the year you were born. Glad I was born in '67, 'cause that is my favorite year of Chevelle. I started with an old buildup that the previous builder did not paint. It came apart very easy. (Thank you P.B). My secret engine builder provided me with a twin turboed injected 454. I found the tire/wheel combo in the parts boxes. The suspension was lowered (but of course), and rear end had mini, mini tubs and minor narrowing to get those meats to tuck under. Inner fenderwells had to be removed and firewall modified to get that monster of a big block to ....almost...fit under the hood. Had to modify the hood, which took me out of my comfort zone(much of this build did the same thing). A set of nascar disc brakes were adapted on all four corners.(let's just say that it also has a nascar spring package under it as well). So here is where I am at. Chassis is buttoned up, and body is painted. I still need to sort out the interior color. Basic black is top of the list at the moment.

Love your subject matter. So where in Utah did you find this poor abandoned project? So I buttoned up the chassis last night and had to do a mockup. Disc brakes were added and the engine is mounted exactly where it needs to be.

Nice idea! If you get pulled over, all you have to say is you are in pursuit of the other cars. Love that blue....

Parts box wheels Tim. Not sure what they came off originally. I do know that they are a four lug wheel.

Nice rendition. A friend of mine built this car years ago, and sent me a DVD collection of the series. Funny thing is, the pilot episode is the only time the car is ever seen.
