  1. I've nevr had good luck with Alclad. It looks like bright silver, but no where near like chrome.
  2. I just bought an original Big Tub from fleabay. The builder did a pretty decent job,but they had strange ideas. They painted a lot of the chrome pieces with white and red paint. The wheels, headers, suspension parts, even the headlight lenses were painted. Is there a safe way to remove it without hurting the chrome? it's been on there a long time too. Thanks for the help.
  3. Really nice! I like your style. That reminds me of the old Aroura (?) kits of the 60's that had a WW2 theme There was a Jaguar ,a Mercedes, and something else.
  4. Whatever happened to this Doktor?
  5. I've never seen this before. Wow! I want one too! Always loved the Futureliner.
  6. Same here. I plan to enjoy some bench time. I spent about 2 hours today cleaning the workbench and the room it's in. Much better.
  7. I know. I'm kidding..
  8. C'mon Greg! Get busy and enter something!
  9. I was never a big fan of motorhomes, but I liked the look of those GMC's. Nice job and a nice save.
  10. Very inspirational, Harry. You just raised the bar again.
  11. Wait a minute. I thought this thread was about actual models or model kits in movies and TV shows. In the background or someone actually working on them. Movie makers have been using models or miniatures since they first started making movies.
  12. Yep.. Because they can. Has anybody heard when they're going to reissue the 1961-62 Chevy Apache pickup w/trailer/stake bed and the 1960 Chevy wagon? Anybody?
  13. Ira... Have you thought about making a bubble top for you Jetsonmobile?
  14. OK guys... This guy is good-real good. But. The plans for all of these are available through a company called Toys and Joys. www.toysandjoys.com Please don't diss me as being a 'naysayer' if that's the right term, but I don't believe every part is 'hand carved' like it says. I built a Ford Model AA truck using their plans and parts. You buy the wheels and other small parts from them along with full size plans. The wheels on his trucks are like mine. BUT - He did take it to the next step,or the next universe by adding opening doors, and all the little details, and I am in awe of him for doing that. Sorry if I offend anyone. The guy is still a master, and I bow to him. Here's mine. I built this about 10-15 years ago out of maple, cherry and ash. I added a few details like the mirror, license plate/brake light and a spare tire. I used a table saw, belt sander, and band saw(borrowed). Not near as nice as his,but I like it. Oh,it measures about 19" long. 1/10th scale?
  15. I guess I'd better hang on the large scale kits I have then. Maybe even build them someday...
  16. Yep. I like 1/8th scale models. I always wondered why they never made a VW beetle in that scale.Or an early Mustang, or a Ford Model A,or a 57 Corvette,or - you get the picture. I know they made 1/16th or even 1/12th,but it's not the same. I guess it all comes down to the same old thing - money. I'd like to see Monogram reissue the 1/8th Chevy engine from 1962 that they made ONE time.
  17. The original (1962?) version of the AMT '49 Ford has some 3 blade spinner hubcaps like that-or similar. Or maybe the Revell Skip's 59 Ford? The Modelhaus may have something. For a custom Merc, that car sits awfully high..
  18. www.plastruct.com has any kind of styrene you would want. Or find a hobby shop that carries Plastruct or Evergreen styrene. A must have for any model builder.
  19. What is really in the bag? I can't tell.
  20. I did a quick search, and didn't find this topic,so I'll start it. As the title says, what was the best kit you ever got? Pick just one-I know it's hard to do. For me it was 1963 when I got a Monogram Big Drag. I bugged my parents for a long time about that one. Sears and Roebucks had them in the Christmas catalog,or the 'wish book' Remember that? If I remeber right,it was a whopping $9.95! quite a bit for then. I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer size of it,so my older brother built most of it for me. I was 11. I can still smell those tires... What was yours?
  21. Sweet! How did you make the whitewalls?
  22. That's the problem with some of the ebay 'parts' models. Been there too many times. If you really want to build the car contact Mike Gradis at www.Edeuce.com He has practically anything for the 1/8th Revell Monogram kits.
  23. Start them all at the same time! Problem solved....
  24. Uh oh - Ira's at ti again! I'll be watching.
