Fujimi Ferrari 250gto
1959scudetto replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Pierre, you are going to put most GTOs to shame (at least mine!) with your new build - I can hardly await the outcome. You started with a joke: build a kit OOB - this is something that you are simply NOT able to - it's not on your agenda ! The engine is evidence enough that even "out-of-the-box-builds Pierre style" means attention to the smallest details and lots of improvements - this is what makes your models so special. -
Old school or not - this is my favorite BMW, too - you did a marvellous job here, Mario - very nice in this orange (a typical '70s color which suits this car excellently) !

1968/69 Porsche 908 Longtail
1959scudetto replied to Rich Chernosky's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
This is how a 908 longtail should look like ! Very nice model, Rich - simply perfect: the graceful body lines, the stance, the color and your trademark steerable front wheels. That windshield wiper would drive me nuts... -
Nissan r 390 GT Tamiya

Very nice build, Mario -might not be your usual cup of tea, but shows (as usual) excellent execution in every aspect. -
Italeri 1/24 Ferrari 250GT California Spyder
1959scudetto replied to Justin Porter's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You could use the seats from Protar/Revell/Italeri's Giulietta Spider (look very similar) or from Bburagos die-cast California Spider. -
Thanks, Pierre, these wheels are definitive worth it - can't wait to see what excellent GTO you're going to build next. I need a quickbuilder now - this was giving me endless troubles I had not expected. My skills have rusted a bit and I don't have the patience for super detailing like you and Ace and Andy show in your WIPs - there is some competition going on, raising the bar always higher...

In October 1962, Luigi Chinetti /NART bought GTO 3987GT and his car won the 1000 km Paris(Monthléry) with the Rodriguez brothers at the wheel. Shortly afterwards, he sold the car to John Mecom - his Mecom Racing team campaigned the car with Roger Penske driving at most events, sometimes together with Augie Pabst. The car was repainted in the well-known Mecom colors of metallic blue with a white stripe. In Sebring they achieved a 4th overall behind 3 Ferrari prototypes, winning the GT 3,0 class: Internet pictures by Louis Galanos and Bernard Cahier : At the end of 1963, the car was sold again and after several ownerships, 3987GT finally ended up in the famous Ralph Lauren collection in 1985. On to the model: I bought a cheap, unpainted buildup of Revells kit from 1989 (ex-Italeri ) and wanted to turn it into the 1963 Sebring class winner – the goal was a quick curbside build to show off Jason’s fantastic 3D printed Borrani wheels. Building turned out to be a string of troubles and took much longer than expected: the paint still has some issues, but as this is supposed to be a racer and not a show-queen, I called it a day . As a 3rd cooling slot had been cut into the body sides between practice and race, I tried Ace’s method in replicating that. Anyway, I’m glad it is finally done – some small touch-ups here and there will be done, otherwise it is finished. Its best feature is the Borrani rims and Dunlop racing tires from Jack Modeling – highly recommended - see my separate topic in the Car Aftermarket/Resin/3 D printed section! On to the pics (taken today):

Ferrari 250 GTO wheels from Jack Modeling: Jason created these with input from Pierre Rivard, Peteski and myself - these are meant to replace the wheels of the Italeri/Revell, Fujimi, Protar/Revell and Gunze Sangyo/Airfix kits. If he gets enough response , he will offer them for sale to the public. I bought 3 sets from him – each wheel consists of 3 parts: Borrani spoke rim, Dunlop racing tire with period-correct tread and sidewall lettering and the central hub/spinner. Below, you can see the sets spraypainted (directly onto the grey resin without any preparation) LEFT: Borranis : Duplicolor rim silver Dunlop tires : Duplicolor rallye black (semi-gloss) Spinners : Revell Chrome CENTER: Borranis : Revell Chrome Dunlop tires : Tamiya rubber black Spinners : Revell Chrome RIGHT: Borranis : Revell Chrome – with 2 shots Tamiya clear smoke overspray Dunlop tires: Tamiya rubber black Spinners : Humbrol Chrome silver enamel DIMENSIONS: standard for the early 250 GTO were: front 6.00 L-15, rear 7.00 L-15 Model tires: 28mm front and 29mm rear Model rims 17mm, width 8mm front, 10mm rear This is how they look on the model - Highly recommended : If you are interested in those wheels, please contact Jason directly : Here is his e-mail-address: contact.jackmodelling@gmail.com

Ebbro Brabham F2
1959scudetto replied to Andrew McD's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Excellent build, Andrew - very nice! I'm glad that I bought several Ebbro F-1 racers when they were available. -
Pierre, you have outdone yourself with this wonderful model - I followed your WIP and was amazed. You've got NO reason whatsoever to be uncertain of building resin kits (you mentioned something similar before starting this one) - you even lifted this - certainly not so easy kit - to another level with your excellent detailing and weathering. With every model you raise the bar a bit higher. (i 've just finished another GTO and tried to make leather straps similar to yours - no chance! I don't know how you do this so well and convincing looking)

I intend to turn this into the silver 1958 Tour de France winner of Olivier Gendebien... (don't like the color either)

Got another Bburago Ferrari 250 TdF today - base plate says 1956, but this is a late '57/early '58 model : :
