  1. You always amaze me with your painstaking attention to the subtle differences in contours and to the smallest details, Pierre. Finally, when all is said and done, it will look like you have turned a 1961 Italeri body into an earlier 1960 version to anyone not following this thread. I will keep this for reference and try to repeat some of the techniques you show here in my future builds: the grille work - outstanding. Oh - I have to hurry up and go to work - I was just eagerly awaiting your next step on this WIP, so I had to look it up early in the morning :-)
  2. Excellent model, Misha - I have been following this for a while. We modelers all know such things happen (especially after removing masking when paint comes off or a decal) - nevertheless it is very annoying. Just like running out of gas in the last lap of a race. If you have a piece of the red decal leftover, I would try to complete the missing parts of the stripe. If not, I would take Pierre's advice and cover it with red color and a fine brush.
  3. Exceptional model, Louis - you belong to that rare breed of modelers who are able to let plastic look like it is metal.
  4. and here is a bunch of 250 SWBs racing last year at Goodwood together with a LM, a few GTOs, the SWB Breadvan, a 250 TdF, a GT/L and a 275 GTB: you can see 1960 and '61 versions with different details. Apart from added roll-bars, additonal rearview mirrors and slightly wider wheels - some have side exhaustpipes - they give a good idea about hwo was GT racing back in the day.
  5. If you need a break from your work here, Pierre: enjoy the video - lean back and crank up the volume: 2 French racing drivers on twisty country roads in the south of France driving a 1960 Ferrari 250 SWB (2209GT) and a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (3387GT), the 2nd ever built:
  6. Fabulous modifications, Pierre - its shape is going to look like a 1960 SWB - the amt/ESCI grille is the better choice for 1931GT (comes very close). This is going to be an excellent model!
  7. Great news - now I can stock up (I have 3 unbuilts in my stash from when they were first released + a GTAm transkit)- one of my all time favorites !
  8. This was released in the "Le grandi Ferrari" diecast series in Italy in February 2017 as a 1959 model which is totally wrong - it is a 1961 version: http://diecast1-24.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2017-02-12T22:00:00%2B01:00&max-results=5&start=34&by-date=false
  9. The red car seems to be a late 1960 car, whereas the white and the grey ones are later versions from 1961. The grey one features the Le Mans additions: small rear fender flares, the snaps above the left exhaust pipes and the bug deflector.
  10. OMG - there is a lot of surgery going on, Pierre - a big motivation is needed for this !
  11. Perry, if you are still looking for those wheels, try Jason at Jack modeling (France) - several guys here on the forum have ordered 3D-printed wheels from him. You have theoption to name the wanted diameter and you will get it. Here is a link to his ebay-page: https://www.ebay.de/itm/186112357559?hash=item2b552934b7:g:BCcAAOSwE69lIv-1
  12. You turned this lousy kit into a nice representation of the classic 450 SL, Thomas - very well done!
  13. Thank you, Joe. But top notch work seems a little exaggerated - these are almost 40 years old (I certainly could do better now)
  14. If you are unable to obtain a Italeri SWB, the Burago diecast will be a good starting point - body shape looks really good; a little TLC for some toylike details (intereior, wipers, etc.) and voila:
  15. For a racer from the 50's this color looks perfect, Pierre ! Very realistic !
  16. In the mail today: Though I had it already, I could not let it pass for € 20,00 (+ postage)
  17. Thank you, Gary !
  18. Now it has the right racecar stance...
  19. Fighting (against obstacles and difficulties) or not: you ended up with a very nice model of an iconic car, Mario - your background scenes are beyond fantastic, as always.
  20. Pierre, I have not yet built any of my Italeri SWB's - only the Esci (before the Italeri has been released) and I only did the absolute minimum: replacing the ugly wheel/tire combo with Italeri's (now we have the option of Jason's Borranis with Dunlops) and modifying the window lines (for a 1960 and a 1961 version)l - the 1960 also had the fuel filler cap repositioned:
  21. Tom, is it still possible to order some decals from him (the site does not show any information about shipping - contact us - conditions of use) and if so, how ?
  22. This is indeed good news, Pierre ! Jason does outstanding work! (I'm thinking of the Ferraris you mentioned and a certain 275 GTB/C which won GT class in LM 65...)
  23. It is 1/24.
