  1. Lindberg, Revell and AMT released the newly styled(at the time) 1997 Ford F150's.
  2. It's more amusing to speculate on the "Legend of JoHan" anyways. Seems as though some of the relaible sources have put most of the history in place. Was a interesting read.
  3. Thankfully I have never done damamge that required a hospital visit. But I have definitely poked and fillet a few fingers. Most of the worst injuries I have succumed too have been from either cooking or working on my 1:1 cars. As a side note... when I did my year in the Afghan sandbox the guys and gals that did convoys carried tampons with then to stop bleeding should someone get hit. They kept them in their medi-pacs they carried on their IBA's.
  4. To do it because you could... well thats awesome. Good luck selling it... as if someone will be interested in a scale model of a historical race car done in the multimedia of gem stones. It is art, do not get me wrong. I am sure it took tons of skill and craftsmanship to create. But could you find anymore disparate things to go togehter?
  5. Pictures on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_flathead_V8_engine
  6. Lots of different ways. Usually I use a little rubbing compound and a soft flannel rag to tighten up the edge. The bleed under usually isn't that thick. Maybe use a polishing kitt to knock down the edge... depending on paint types say acrylic was used for the trim on an enamel paint job use a cotton swap with a little thinner to clean it up. Lots of different ways to skin this cat.
  7. I am going to be devils advocate looking into the future... everyone is all excited and nostalgic for now until the models finally do make it back to shelves again and everyone complains about accuracy issues and difficulty to assemble the kits
  8. Rob they seemed more recent to me than my memory served. Maybe I am getting old
  9. My 1:1 Cobra... also my avitar. Pardon the crappy BB cell phone pic Edit: Didn't load... suppose I should set up a photo hosting account some where.
  10. Well the recent good stuff they made comes to mind: 66 Chevelle SS, 1953 Ford Victoria, 1961 Impala come to mind. They were doing well for a while there. Glad to see they will not be going the way of the ghost.
  11. No harm... just felt like an idiot. LOL
  12. I try to use the blades once maybe twice for foiling. The first sign of dragging they go in my old Altoids tin for other uses that they are perfectly fine for such as sprue removal and scribing.
  13. Okay I have one other one I want to add... filling seams and removal of miold lines and ejection pin marks. Some folks do amazing paint and details work but forget these little basics. Nothing like fully wiring and plumbing the whole car and the oil pan, bellhousing and trans are still split through the middle, or a flawless paint job with mold lines across the c-pillar of the top.
  14. Looking at Steve Stropes Pure Vision web site shows the car rendering with the stripe, the car at SEMA without it, and then later pictures of the stripe. Seems to me it would have been added at a later date.
  15. somewhere in the midst of me to impart something useful to this post that you didnt already bring to light I seem to have proven why it is always important to review what we have learned along the way. . We all have our days I guess
  16. good call... in essence a drop spindle. I wasn't trying to send him down the wrong path but rather trying reinforce that lowering is a model akin to lowering the real thing. The rear will still need to have the coils cut down as that car would look odd sharply raked
  17. It's all just like real cars, only smaller. This... so a S197 Mustang would be dropped in 1:1 via coils and new dampers or air bags. Depends on how low and how much clearance around the wheel houses and moving parts. No brake lines or ill handling effects in scale so in essence its easier.
  18. Sounds like some of you guys need these to keep from getting injured: http://www.monstermarketplace.com/catholic-books/pencil-grip-triangle
  19. They are nice carbs for sure. They do look a little big scale wise (the fuel bowls are covering the valve covers) and as far as from a realistic standpoint the 2 1050 Dominators on anything but a full race Pro Stock engine looks to be a little overkill.
  20. Actually HRE wheels. 18x10" F, 18x12" R. The Porsche Wheels would probably work out well at the expense of a Tamiya kit. Lots of info about this car all over the web. I had never seen it before OP's post.
  21. I think it's mostly real. Looks like a photoshop of sorts based on the lighting, background blurr and the strange blue cast the chrome has. I agree with the trim around the winshield being too thin and defined to be a kit. Though... the gill louvers on the fenders do seem a little oddly shallow.
  22. I agree with Bruce... the stance is pretty killer. In 1:1 it would be bagged for sure.
  23. Casey I looked forever online trying to find a page from an old magazine or Centerline catalog. Kudos! The Matt and Debbie Hay Chevy Celebrity Eurosport wore the Aeros, which was the other one I couldn't think of.
  24. That's what I do.... I use a machinist rule and cut strips of tape and lay them closely to the burnish edge at the cut line. The weight of the blade rides in the groove. Leaves the foil edge razor sharp and straight and when you pull the tape it pull the cut away foil. Similar in theory to what pinstriper's would use as a guide
