Thanks Trevor & Mark. The kit like the 1:1 has the battery installed at an angle. Didn't care for that so I reshaped the notch and made a simple battery tray.
Stripped the chrome from the cam cover and painted it semi-gloss black
Using a small flat file removed the paint from the raised detail
Added a vent tube from shaped wire
Looks very nice despite the trouble it gave you. I agree it would be nice to have a standard body version of the Mk I. I have the Belkits and will take it on someday. I bought the Scale Productions engine bay insert and have the twin-cam or BDA engine to install. I did a super detail build of the Esci Mk II RAC rally car awhile back - worked on it for 2 years (!)
My '85 was similar to this but black with Cragar wheels.
The '93 looked like this except silver on top, blue on the bottom:
The 2010 looks like this but I have factory fog/driving lights. Its a 4x4.
