  1. Levon Helm - Dirt Farmer. Great alt-country album. Levon Helm was the drummer and vocalist for The Band. I love the chorus of this song.

Nice Ulf. The wheels look sharp.
  3. Finished interior. Some how I talked myself into not modifying the shifter to represent the distinctive 427 unit, a decision I regret now. The shifter on the 1:1 is a Mustang unit installed backwards.
  4. Nice stand Bruce. What kit is the Ford DFV from?
  5. I prefer the Ferrari concept myself.
  6. Nothing really has changed Joe but here are the most recent photos of where the build stands. My friend, Marcos Cruz took these pictures and got a little artsy with the camera angles.
  7. Thanks for your interest Adam. I am aware the grill is not 100% accurate but I'm happy with it. I hope to complete this build soon.
  8. Another Porsche fan here. Looking forward to this and your other Porsche projects.
  9. Phil, I recommend you pre assembly as much as possible before painting, provided that all the assembled parts are to be the same color. Myself I only brush paint small details. I air brush or spay paint everything else. Maybe you should strip the chassis and air brush it rather than dull coating it.
  10. Good work Ulf. Love seeing rally cars on the forum. I have been trying to get my hands on this kit.
  11. Very nice Mike.
  12. Thanks Allen. I haven't been able to find any period engine bay photos of 3016 but the restored car has the fluid reservoirs mounted on the inner fender.
  13. I see it now Steve since you pointed it out. I would be happy to share pictures with you. Glad you are doing a correct set. I was worried I would have to use the Studio27 set which got the stripes all wrong. They even call for the car to be painted Viking Blue.
  14. McLaren has released its vision for the future of Formula One by designing a concept car featuring futuristic technology. Although the design is only a marketing exercise, the MP4-X features real technologies McLaren believes could be put to use in the future. Much like the Ferrari concept car released earlier this year, it also offers a glimpse of what the Formula One's future might look like. The MP4-X features energy recovery systems along the same lines as the ones in use today in F1, but McLaren says it would have "new approach to the internal combustion engine" and "thin batteries" that form a part of the crash structure. It would also feature solar panels built into the bodywork that would contribute to the car's power ... although not at night races. From a safety perspective, the car features a canopy over the cockpit, an idea that has gathered momentum following the death of Justin Wilson in IndyCar earlier this year. "I was one of many drivers who said, 'This is open-cockpit racing, it should stay as open-cockpit racing,' but I think we've had enough now," McLaren driver Jenson Button said. "We've got to get a canopy on the car of some sort, because we can't have these sorts of accidents happening as much as they have over the last few years. It's not the 1970s any more, we should know better. Canopies probably are the way to go, but obviously that takes time." But it's not all new technology, the MP4-X has also been designed with ground-effect aerodynamics, a concept that was banned in Formula One in 1982. The smaller internal combustion engine and fuel tank would allow for huge Venturi tunnels beneath the floor to create a "powerful aerodynamic effect". In addition, McLaren claims the chassis would change shape to adapt to different aerodynamic demands -- think super-advanced DRS. The shape-shifting bodywork would also feature digital billboards that would tailor sponsors' messages to its audiences. "Just like the webpages you view, the adverts are chosen specifically for you -- meaning that the car will look different to everyone," McLaren claims. Put simply, the MP4-X will be able to read your mind.
  15. Yep. I emailed VRM regarding a release date and am waiting to hear back. They were originally supposed to be released this spring. Per the website an artwork error has them delayed.
  16. Thanks Tony, Ray & Dann. Batteries painted and installed.
  17. Yea I doubt it will have the correct hood or the correct engine. Not sure why it is shown with RHD as both 1:1 cars are LHD.
  18. Concrete Blonde - Walking In London.
  19. Great build Ray. Love the wheel covers.

I like it. You might try some decal setting solution. It will soften the decals and allow them to settle down on to your paint better. This should make the clear decal carrier less visible. Here is what I use.
  21. No. Unfortunately the chassis was not modified to the proper coil spring suspension. It still builds up into a good looking model however.
