  1. Wow! I just took an all expenses paid trip back to my school days.......Thank You!
  2. Nice job Thomas! A very impressive build. Great work on the added detail and the weathering.
  3. Arnold, that is one of the nicest examples of that kit that I have seen. You knocked it out of the park!
  4. Gorgeous model!!
  5. Thanks for the help Jeff and Joshua. The Lotus I am doing is from 1978 and driven by Mario. I believe the car you posted pictures of is a 1979 (?) I don't know that the belts would be any different. I should just go with the PE buckles but there is just something about them that I do not like. They just look too darn big. I am going to compare my PE set with some that one of my modeling buddies has and make the decision then.
  6. Thanks for the nice comments guys! It is a unique model for sure and looks pretty cool sitting on the shelf.
  7. That may very well be the nicest build of that car that I have seen. I agree about the gold, it looks like a good match.
  8. Very, very nice!
  9. Thank you for the help Jeff and Dale, I appreciate it. I pulled out my calipers and measured the I.D. of the buckles. It comes out to just over 3 scale inches. I have three books on this car and I don't think the shoulder belts are 3 inches. If I had to guess, based off the books, the shoulder belts are 2 inches and the lap belts may be 3 inches. Any ideas? I looked at Willans web site and you can get both sizes. I just don't know what they ran back in 1978......sigh. I'm still open to suggestions, links, photos, etc. that might help solve this mystery .
  10. You have got to be kidding! I hope you gap that thing correctly .
  11. Thanks for all of the comments guys. I think the pictures hide a multitude of sins. Notice there are no straight on shots...lol. That is a very nice post Bill. I was fortunate enough to meet Peter at NNL East two years ago, (I believe). I knew his models from this board. I found him beside them and struck up a conversation. What a nice guy! He was actually going to give me something, at no charge, but I had to decline as I knew I would never use it. How nice was that?!?! I am thankful we have folks like Peter and soooo many others here who will take the time to log in, put their thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc on-line. They take time to take pictures, load them up and then share them here. Wow, that is just a great thing. I am glad Peter took the time to do what he did. Hopefully someone read his post and will use his tips on their next build! Yes Jeff, I thought we had you this year. Maybe next year buddy!
  12. Really nice work Harry. This is a great example of long distance learning. I am getting "schooled" every time I check in on your, (I know you don't like this), builds.
  13. That is just outstanding! The more I look at it the more details I see. Very impressive indeed.
  14. I am currently working on an original Tamiya 1:12 1978 JPS. The kit did not come with any type of racing harness. I took a 1:24 Detail Master PE racing harness set, laid it on a photocopier and doubled the size. I then used that as a template to make the hardware out of sheet stock. It looks just about right to me. Many years later Acu-Stion had a PE set for the car and I bought it. The hardware looks HUGE. It just looks to darn big for the seat. However, I would think they know more about the subject than I do. Does anyone know of a correct set of a racing harness for this car or any car from that period? I have my eye on a MFH set but have not bought it. I would also be happy to know the dimensions of the 1:1 belts from that time. They may be the same as now, I am not sure. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me out!
  15. Thanks hemi. Here is a picture of what I used. I took some artistic license with this. I was going for a "groovy" vibe with the color.
  16. Thanks Peter! I know about the tricks for decals. Because I was doing the 24 hour build at someone else's house I had to pack up everything I could think of and take it with me. A hair dryer was not even on my radar, (it doesn't help that I am bald....hair dryers are never on my radar ).
  17. I thought I would share my finished 24 hour build. My goal, as well as the original intent of the original group, was to finish an unstarted kit in 24 hours. I alway strive to finish my kit in the 24 hour time frame. I understand that to do this short-cuts must be taken. I choose kits that I think I can finish and kits that I never planned on detailing to the max. So is the case with this model. I came close to finishing it but didn't quite make it. I worked on it here and there and finished it last night. It is definitely a "3 footer". Maybe more like 10 feet . The decals were the worst I've ever used, (and I build mainly race cars.) I used so much Solvaset, which did nothing BTW, that the EPA paid me a visit. You can see the many wrinkles in the pictures. There was a ton of flash but fortunately they chromed all of it . The only thing missing is the windshield glass. It was unusable. It is very important to get the frame square as everything builds off of it. I did not get mine perfectly square and had minor fit problems the rest of the way.
  18. Beautiful!!
  19. Soooo nice!!
  20. Great flashback! Nice job on the rig but I'm more impressed with all of the goodies stashed inside. Too cool Danno!
  21. Man Bruce, what a cool build of such a cool old stocker. I think it looks good without all of the sponsor decals and multi-colored graphics splashed everywhere like today's cars have.
  22. Looks like great execution of a very cool idea! Nice work JT.
  23. Very cool NASCAR Tim. You did a great job with it.
  24. I don't recall ever seeing that car before. Looks like you are off to a good start.
  25. Those two beauties look great in black. Very nice!
