  1. Like so many others have already said, I love the color, it really works on this car. Just an overall, great model!
  2. Very nice, JC! A great looking Cobra, to be sure.
  3. Very nice, Tyler. Great job on the model and the diorama is too cool!
  4. I always enjoy seeing your models, OC! This is another cool one!
  5. This is kind of lightning striking twice. I just got on here to post basically what Mike has just posted. So yeah, the same thing in my store in North Central WV. They were out of some kits that were there on Sunday and definitely had different kits tonight. On Sunday they were all in/on one big display. Tonight, the big display was pretty empty but an end cap was chock full. Also, there were kits in the main toy aisle. I guess it pays to make more than one visit.
  6. 1:24 scale is not your normal scale. What made you decide to do this one? I am going to assume subject matter.
  7. Great job! I have read were some guys said that they would not buy this kit because it was "too toy like". Maybe they need to take a look at yours!
  8. Looks like there are some really nice colors there. Thanks for sharing how you did it.
  9. I wait until my paint is fully cured and my decals are dry. When I was building NASCAR models, I used "The Treatment" wax and would wax right over the decals and all. I've never had a problem. However, I cannot speak to other brands of wax.
  10. Thank you, Raymond! I have seen the vinyl wrap in my searches. I have a feeling that is the way I'm going to have to go. I doesn't look too expensive.
  11. I am hoping that someone out there can help me out. I am looking for a carbon fiber display base for an upcoming project. I have seen several of them at contests, usually with a Formula 1 car on them. I have Googled it, but am not getting anything useful. I see carbon fiber display bases included when you buy some of the more expensive exotic or race car diecast models. I need it to display a 1:12 Formula 1 car. Any help sure would be appreciated!
  12. Nice job, Tommy. She looks good in white and your photography really sets it off!
  13. I really, really, really like this. This is such a great race car and it looks sooooo nice in that livery.
  14. I can say that, at least before the upgrade, it is 10.
  15. There have been some great replies to this. My intention was not so much if you care about winning trophies, etc., but what you do with the ones you have won. You all may get a chuckle out of this. I was talking with my wife one night about my box of plaques in the basement and what I was going to do with the ones currently on display. I asked my wife, who likes to do fun sewing projects, if she had any fabric left over that I could use to wrap up each plaque so that they don't get scratched. That weekend I went out of town and when I came back she had made a dozen or so little "pockets" to put the plaques in. She even made different sizes for the different sized plaques. (I love that woman!!). I dubbed them Plaque Pockets...lol.
  16. I like it! I think the wheels work with it. Nice job!
  17. Along the same lines of what Tom just said, I routinely bring and enter models in the shows I attend knowing full well that they do not have a snowballs chance of even placing. I do it to help the club with entry fees and to have a few more models on the table. Maybe it won't place but maybe someone will enjoy seeing it. Maybe it will be the vehicle, (pun intended), to strike up a conversation with another modeler.
  18. Thanks for all of the great responses. The reason I asked the question is that I have been very fortunate in that I have built a model, (that I call my Mona Lisa, meaning that it is probably the best model I will ever build...lol), that has done very well in contests. I have collected a nice array of trophies and plaques. I have them displayed in my living room and I must admit, I get a big smile when I look at them. Problem is, the model has made the rounds and I now have to think about how long I'm going to leave all the hardware in the living room. At some point in time, probably sooner than later, I need to do something with them. I already have a box of plaques and medals in the basement. Plaques and medals are fairly easy to store but I'm not sure what to do with the trophies. There are some very nice trophies and I hate to think of throwing them in a box and sticking them in a storage unit to never be seen again, more or less.
  19. I have both. I mainly use Fotki to host my model WIP and final pics. We will also use it for family type pics., vacation, kids, etc. PB has some nifty features like adding text and adding effects, to name a few. I use PB to add text to the picture of the winning model in our Model of the Month contest. I then post that picture at the top of our forum.
  20. Here is a topic that I do not recall ever reading about here on MCM. I'm sure this topic is going to get a few off-topic comments and elicit a few unnecessary comments, but I would really like to hear some serious answers too. For those of you who compete regularly in model contests, and are fortunate enough to have your models place, you normally get a trophy, a plaque or a medal/ribbon. If you have competed for a number of years and keep placing, you could wind up with quite a few trophies, plaques, medals/ribbons. My question to you is...what do you do with all of those trophies, plaques, medals/ribbons? Do you display them forever? Do you keep them on display for a few years and then store them? Do you never display them? Do you give them away? Let's hear from the masses.
  21. That is a great looking model! I really like those low angle photos.
  22. Now that is pretty darn cool! I would like to see your models in person. That is probably what you would need to do to fully appreciate them.
  23. Yes, thanks for taking and sharing the pictures, Tom! And not to embarrass our fellow board member, Eric Ritz, aka Impalow, but this guy cleaned up at the Buckeye Classic! It was all well deserved. I am happy to say I was able to see the two models that did so well, up close. They are fantastic. Congrats, Eric!
  24. I'm a little late to the party. I am a long time subscriber and yes, more often than not, my magazine was damaged when I pulled it out of my mailbox. I received my latest magazine, in its bag, in perfect condition! So let me say "Thank you" to everyone at MCM who was responsible for making this happen! I understand it was not MCM's fault, but rather the USPS's fault the magazine was damaged. Thanks for stepping up to take care of your subscribers.
