Finally the infamous Olds, kit has landed...can't wait to add this one to the stash. Also ever since I've gotten the book "Police cars a graphic history" by Bruce W. Cameron, back in the late '90s, I kinda hoped for a modified release of their Pro-modeler '48 ragtop...again a must have. The '30 Ford coup, building options galore...and I'm sure Tim Boyd will be a great ambassador promoting this kit on online fora... Take it away Tim! ;^) Anyway..the boys and gals of Elk Grove Village did good.

6 or so months ago I wrote Tesla, to probe their interest of having their cars reproduced as 1/25th scale model kits, but never got a reply....

Found this on the German hobby site, Wettringer modellbau... Wettringer Modellbau forum (in German)

I'm sure the path they take when tooling an all new kit, is a much more cautioned one, after-all one doesn't sink in 250K for an all new kit, without a rock solid contract and then it's still a (calculated) gamble, will the sales tank, go ballistic, or something in-between, while the licensors cut, is carved in stone, you can only guess or rely on past track records of similar items. One can say whatever you want, about the spin doctors at company x, y, z....but I don't envy their job.

I mailed them a month or so ago, and their rep said that it will be a Q1 release. Also if one looks at their FB page you'll. will see that the kit is currently in production (China)

Just guessing here, cuz I don't know anything from that game of "chess" Maybe the corporate lawyers from both parties, had a text which only needed a signature, but the head honcho wanted more, to put more weight to his name within the company, cuz it doesn't matter how good or bad you are, ones name has to be circulating withing the company's management team, to get promoted...
-
Because they can?! It's their intellectual property and if one tries to make money from that, they will decide on the size of their slice of the pie (or Pizza), cuz it's not, that they need model companies to sell their cars, model and toy companies need the Ferrari myth and legacy, to sell a ton of SKU's (product) worldwide.... Though the least one can say is, that this occurrence will illustrate, how much of a creative mind the product developers are..... Interesting times for sure...

Just found this on the Belkits FB page. Also note Belkits decided (starting with both Ford MK1 kits) to collaborate with Cartograf, the leading decal manufacturer from Italy. This to bring the quality of our decals to a higher level. Photo's and info courtesy from Belkits Belgium.

If You Hit the Powerball Tonight...
Luc Janssens replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Would be nice to win the European equivalent of the power ball, called Euromillions, which is tax free. Then I would book a 1st. class flight, States side and have a meet with some people. ;^) Never gonna happen though....I've been playing since 2004 and the most I won, was 75 euro ($80 or so) -
Yes, but then IMHO a company like Revell with their European branch, who has a 1/35th scale military line, would be a better party to tackle it, as all new tooling that is, because that way they can spread/share the development costs... Same goes for a Chevy C/K pickup from the same era. For Germans these military versions were common as dirt near US military installations and once decommissioned, on the open market everywhere in Europe, to be used as work horses or fun off roading... The 250+k question is, is the market waiting for these?

The 4x4 footwear was always the downside of these '72-'78 Dodge sweptside kits. In '78 Mpc inserted better wheels and tires with the '78 Dodge Warlock and a year later the '79 Dodge Firefighter, both uteline trucks.... It may sound like a broken record (released by yours truly), but in a perfect world (if the inserts are there and don't need a lot of work) Round two IMHO could unload a ton of kits to us builders/collectors, by combining the '79 Uteline cab and running gear with the remains of the Monster truck..... Hek they might even find an outlet in the TV memorabilia world if the licensing of the old Simon & Simon isn't too bad? Simon & Simon And if they don't, then just go on a search for both these kits and make it yourself...

2016 Revell Germany, new releases
Luc Janssens replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There always will be a difference in what the decision makers will tool and what the model enthusiast want. What we enthusiasts don't see is the total sales numbers of their SKU's (bar code) also in this day and ago for such a volume model kit giant, they rather play it safe, thus IMHO pick a subject they know, will sell in large numbers which in turn keep the cost per unit low, then pick subjects of which they fear will perform less, which in turn will drive up the unit price. The question is if consumers of model kits under the Revell brand will accept premium price tags from them or not. On the other hand if you don't invest in subjects like a Opel Commodore A GS/E, Manta B GS/E, Kadett GT/E or a Ford Capri or Cortina or Escort Mk-1 how will they find out, if there's a big enough market for those subjects? Maybe Heller will clear the path.... -

Dunno how much Domino charges for sending kits to the US, but maybe they're worth a try...
