  1. Depends.... From a design point it only makes sense when tooling up a '67, '68, '69 Camaro and Firebird together, Manufacturers apply the MO now, because they have to spread the investment costs and risks, over much smaller runs, runs which maybe were considered flops back in the day of Wallyworld. Also what is announced as all new tooling, still can be based on past tooling, models, drawings, 3d files, recycling everything except the hardware. Personally I don't like fiddling with existing tooling like Mpc was known for in the past , removing insert to re-arrange them in another tool and sometimes re-engraving welding etc.... too much down time, delaying production, whenever a swap has to be made between model, x, y, z, and also that's when things start to go wrong production wise, wrong inserts, forgotten inserts, wrong parts blocked off... IMHO the best way to design a kit as it were a cluster of parts packs (instead of one big chunk of heavy forklift needing tooling), grouping chassis parts together in one small tool, engine in another, interior in yet again another, and so forth and so on, also easier for production, again IMHO! SKU XXX = tooling a+b+c+d+e+f, SKU XXY= tooling a+g+c+h+I, SKU XXZ=........
  2. Aoshima never had a '65 Chevy, Hasagawa did, together with 4 other ex-slot cars of US 60s automotive subjects. Also around that time there was an announcement of an '66 (or so) ex Amt Chevy pickup promo kit, which also didn't materialized due to licensing issues, or so...
  3. I believe Revell set up a booth at the NNL east, so people visiting the show, should be able to get some first hand info.
  4. Wonder how far that Chevy project went....before it was axed.
  5. Great model Steve, my plan is,( if I ever find a usable build up, for the right amount of money) to build it with the elastomere bumper option, pro-mod and like yours it will be red.
  6. Can't wait, can't wait...
  7. A '71 you mean, the box-art shows a yellow car with "superbird like" nose cone and giant rear wing. Anyway in a prefect world I would like, for round-2 to; in part, reverse engineer and partly design new parts, an '72 RR, so it fits the underpinnings of the excellent 2000ish M&M designed '71 Charger kit.
  8. As "one trick pony's" are getting far and few between due to ROI, I expect we will see another version of this new tool. After all this ain't a General Lee ;^)
  9. Then the tool will need further clean up, cuz IIRC there are some remains and omissions from backdating it from oval track to street machine.
  10. But now, post Copo release, I'm betting it will have a plain grille and trim delete between the taillites....
  11. Per info given by Round-2 to Tom Carter, the '61 Impala is the Lindberg hardtop tool.
  12. The German aftermarket company, Scale Production, is coming with an update set for this kit, it will include an resin engine and hood.
  13. Wonder how long it will take, until Revell surprises us with a new Hatch series, based on the newly designed coup kit.
  14. They still do exist, in a Rolls Royce (Roller for the Britons here) and also in the current Opel Meriva http://www.autoweek.nl/images/800/6/a5c289ea5b09c42e50ec0a79805799f6.jpg
  15. Not the only thing that didn't happen at Satco, if memory serves me right they also announced a '66 Chevy Impala hardtop somewhere in the late 90s. Wonder what happened to the company and it's (non Aoshima) tire tooling.
  16. Thanks all for the info, truly appreciated! Luc
  17. Darn! Realy hoped them leading other European manufacturers into more kits, of everyday vehicles from the 50s, 60s and 70s..... Oh well....
  18. Looks good Dave! Just love them cars with stacked headlamps.
  19. Are the cars then sort of (CKD) kit cars, or cobbled together by the racing teams, to their own or national (US, CAN, AUS safety) specs, with parts from different original equipment manufacturers (OEM)? And also thanks guys for your responses so far...
  20. Saw it on FB a couple of days ago, beautiful box art and on pre-order. ;^)
  21. Got this Revell Steve Kinser Bass Pro Shops sprint car, as part of a deal and was wondering if it is a re-pop of an old Monogram tool, or is it upgraded? Also do they still use these on the track today?, if yes are they similar to this kit, or did they through the years got updated/upgraded and with what? Please fill me in cuz I wanna know Thanks!
  22. Ex US army, Tom. In the '90s they sold a ton of obsolete vehicles, as part of the withdraw of much of the American forces from Germany, due to the fall of the iron curtain. Come to think of it, they used to have a base, more of a depot realy, just 5 miles from our (then) house in Grobbendonk, Belgium, which they sold the the Belgian Army and is still in use. One of the reasons these trucks deserves all new tooling in both 1/25 as 1/35th scale...since they were used everywhere....so would be a good project for a company like Revell USA-Germany.
  23. Saw this lot last Wednesday, when I was on route on business...
  24. I'm glad I stocked up when they were available, I even remember buying kits from Jo-Han models direct; somewhere in the early '90s, Think I still have the invoice somewhere...
