The problem with parts packs is, that the packaging (materials, art-work and labor), shipping and distribution costs are (nearly) as much as for a standard kit Thus bumping the price to roughly 2/3rd's of a standard model kit (retail) IMHO model companies better offer, more "gazillion option" model kits, and via their instruction sheets and webpages, pin point where to find other kits, with great options to custom build, your model to suit your taste. This MO is also likely the future due to licensing costs, this way you can spread the cost (every OEM wants their share) over more kits and when using the corporate website, as pro-active, in selling an idea (kit) instead of the virtual store front it now is , making people know, what to get where and what is possible, like a standard Lego building pack, which combined with other sets, will offer you a plethora of building options. Just my 2 cents, but my mind is like a parachute ;^)

1970 Dodge Charger R/T?
Luc Janssens replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is some speculation that it's coming due to the fact, that a modified hood, for blower clearance popped up in a photo. Who knows?! -
Round 2 1969 Chevelle Convertible
Luc Janssens replied to Toner283's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Round 2 would get my attention, if they would change it into a 68 again, preferbaly a H/T Better still would be an whole new tool for this generation of Chevelles, starting with the '68 up to the '72. -
Revell Germany 1/24th scale BMW i8
Luc Janssens replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The greenies?! It's the German Tesla, so who know how this kit will perform, maybe even BMW picked up the check, but whatever the reason, there are people who will welcome this kit, so let them have their joy. -
Could it be to compensate the royalties check? Or what's the age bracket of the majority of the consumers who buy Nascar kits? Just two questions, I don't know the answer to, but I'll bet they know at Revell

Too bad that for such a significant car (for the Japanese automotive history, anyway) they didn't design it with a complete engine. Or was the engine a too troublesome unit

Product catalogs, remember every year just after the Nürnberg Toy fair, my local hobby shop getting all the new catalogs in. With Monogram, you could even see the release month and even in my neck of the woods they were pretty much on schedule..... So while the information highway speeded up the info, the lead times got longer..... ;^)

I mailed Belkits a couple weeks ago and at that point in time it was still in the 3d file stage.

Tucker kit? YES!
Luc Janssens replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Indeed...in the past, 'till the 90s or so, I pretty much knew every new vehicle on the road....now I have to look at the name plate, one exception is the Tesla, I can spot them from a mile away, don't know what it is, cuz never realy read current auto magazines. Only have a subscription of Hemming's Muscle Machines, since day one... -
Tucker kit? YES!
Luc Janssens replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are soo many interesting vehicles which made the short list of this or that maufacturer, but the bottomline is still the same, if there's not enough interest from the distributors and retailers, it doesn't fly. There's another breaking ground vehicle out there, also from a indipendent manufacturer, but sold in much bigger numbers and worldwide.. Tesla.....why are there no model kits from their model lineup, it would be perfect for the internet generation and greenies (read power junkies not gas monkies) -
Tucker kit? YES!
Luc Janssens replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you want a Tucker kit, go on facebook and maybe you can get one with the help of crowd funding, you will need to pick up 250-300K When having that kind of cash in your pockets, doors will open...... -
Ghost Kits - Shown But Never Released
Luc Janssens replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The question here is, how can one describe the typical WalMart shopper? Might be an interesting essay.. ;^) And, what are the biggest buyers of model kits these days, Michaels, Hobby Lobby?...wich sort of clientele do they serve? -
While I understand some of the concerns made public here, especially those from guys who eat and breathe Hot rods, I'm getting more and more exited with every (re)view of the test shots and builds made from it. In the past I Hot rods never did anything for me, but by meeting people who have one and watching TV shows like Gas Monlee's, I got this itch, so can't wait, till the first release hits our shores, to play with the parts, just like any 46 year old kid would do

1970 Dodge Charger R/T?
Luc Janssens replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Too much undercut in the body shape to be derived from a diecast tool, I think (based on the plastic kit made from the Vanishing point Challenger, and ex Smokey and the Bandit T/A) -

Welcome back Brett, back to the subject, blew up the photo this morning to look at the body and the fenders look '68-69 to me.
