  1. Sound like a great idea, but engines alone don't make a a finished car, so IMHO not very likely to happen. The cycle idea has some merit, certainly when including a trailer, but still a very limited market, I think, otherwise Dave Burket would've done it already..... Anyway, on a tooling level it would make sense to have every popular engine available together with the right options OEM and aftermarket, combined in one versatile small tool. That way the manufacturer can connect that tool, like a sibling to a mother tool, which hold the main parts of a vehicle. In the past we've seen the same engines designed and tooled over and over again for every car model kit which happened to have kind of engine. A big waste of resources IMHO, but at that point in time, kits sold like crazy so intelligent cost cutting was not an issue. Anyway, in the past I tried to start up a brain storm on future engine design (see link) but it only generated a few replies, I guess it's easier to complain to a manufacturer, then to help them by making the Model cars board the place to be to pickup ideas and profit form the knowledge of the participants. If we as a community want to be kept seriously, we better work on our relation with model companies. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=93598&hl= My 2 cents.....
  2. They could add braces (an exta B-pillar if you will) to the side cavity to give the roof more strength and revise the instruction sheet, to remove them prior to painting. Sure it comes at a cost, but in time cheaper then inserting a custom made cardboard support to prevent the roof from caving in.
  3. The problem with parts packs is, that the packaging (materials, art-work and labor), shipping and distribution costs are (nearly) as much as for a standard kit Thus bumping the price to roughly 2/3rd's of a standard model kit (retail) IMHO model companies better offer, more "gazillion option" model kits, and via their instruction sheets and webpages, pin point where to find other kits, with great options to custom build, your model to suit your taste. This MO is also likely the future due to licensing costs, this way you can spread the cost (every OEM wants their share) over more kits and when using the corporate website, as pro-active, in selling an idea (kit) instead of the virtual store front it now is , making people know, what to get where and what is possible, like a standard Lego building pack, which combined with other sets, will offer you a plethora of building options. Just my 2 cents, but my mind is like a parachute ;^)
  4. Large fries and a one gallon drum of soda, while building?
  5. Don't think that he got advanced copies, he bought the entire first run!
  6. There is some speculation that it's coming due to the fact, that a modified hood, for blower clearance popped up in a photo. Who knows?!
  7. Round 2 would get my attention, if they would change it into a 68 again, preferbaly a H/T Better still would be an whole new tool for this generation of Chevelles, starting with the '68 up to the '72.
  8. Name make and model and engine choice, plus all the go fast and show goodies. That will keep you guys busy, I hope
  9. The greenies?! It's the German Tesla, so who know how this kit will perform, maybe even BMW picked up the check, but whatever the reason, there are people who will welcome this kit, so let them have their joy.
  10. Could it be to compensate the royalties check? Or what's the age bracket of the majority of the consumers who buy Nascar kits? Just two questions, I don't know the answer to, but I'll bet they know at Revell
  11. Too bad that for such a significant car (for the Japanese automotive history, anyway) they didn't design it with a complete engine. Or was the engine a too troublesome unit
  12. Product catalogs, remember every year just after the Nürnberg Toy fair, my local hobby shop getting all the new catalogs in. With Monogram, you could even see the release month and even in my neck of the woods they were pretty much on schedule..... So while the information highway speeded up the info, the lead times got longer..... ;^)
  13. Snap-tite max, anyone here know what the max stands for?
  14. I mailed Belkits a couple weeks ago and at that point in time it was still in the 3d file stage.
  15. Both versions are on order and ship together with the already reserved Hudson, can't wait :^)
  16. Now, that's what I call, clever engineering.
  17. What's in the box, Heller via Wettringer modellbauforum....http://www.wettringer-modellbauforum.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=57925
  18. Anyone here, know how to get the 5 stock tires from this kit? Need a set cuz they fit the Monogram F250 wheels like they were made for it
  19. Indeed...in the past, 'till the 90s or so, I pretty much knew every new vehicle on the road....now I have to look at the name plate, one exception is the Tesla, I can spot them from a mile away, don't know what it is, cuz never realy read current auto magazines. Only have a subscription of Hemming's Muscle Machines, since day one...
  20. There are soo many interesting vehicles which made the short list of this or that maufacturer, but the bottomline is still the same, if there's not enough interest from the distributors and retailers, it doesn't fly. There's another breaking ground vehicle out there, also from a indipendent manufacturer, but sold in much bigger numbers and worldwide.. Tesla.....why are there no model kits from their model lineup, it would be perfect for the internet generation and greenies (read power junkies not gas monkies)
  21. If you want a Tucker kit, go on facebook and maybe you can get one with the help of crowd funding, you will need to pick up 250-300K When having that kind of cash in your pockets, doors will open......
  22. The question here is, how can one describe the typical WalMart shopper? Might be an interesting essay.. ;^) And, what are the biggest buyers of model kits these days, Michaels, Hobby Lobby?...wich sort of clientele do they serve?
