Could it be that that exploded view is from the old Monogram days, I see that the tires are named by brand and there are no chrome headlight buckets, something not seen from Monogram since the '83 Mustang IIRC

I'd say, write to Italeri, to let them know your grieves, but in a polite way, maybe just maybe, there's money in parts packs engines, dunno just thinking out loud... ;^) Anyway here's a link to a page on their website, with a email addy for suggestions: http://italeri.com/news_scheda.asp?idNews=473

You beat me to it, was thinking the same....easy to spot when looking inside of the body, IIRC Japanese model manufacturers do it the same way for ages now..

Renault 4L from Heller and Ebbro
Luc Janssens replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks for the pics, this kit takes me back to the '70s, when they were all over the place, in my neck of the woods... -
The nose is too flat too, like it hit a wall, IMHO the only right thing to do is,to recycling that tool.

They carefully dismantlement the building and raised it again in the Belgian open museum called Bokrijk http://www.bokrijk.be/en/for-kids/default.php On weekends they produce plastic model kits of from the 60s... ;^)

Don't think it's a big deal, just stupid on his part, cuz he doesn't know what the company short list is and the ranking of his car, which can go up, or down depending on what sells on the hobby market. When something is in tooling, then one can be fairly sure, you can have a copy of it within a year or so... I'm hoping to see a '80s Cutlass kit and guess like most of us here, will find out, when it's on some quarterly flyer. 'till then I've got plenty to build already ;^)

"NEW" MPC Dukes of Hazzard kit not what you expected
Luc Janssens replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's a kit aimed to please kids and novice builders, so.... -
Saw that diecast with my own eyes, many moons ago, and believe me, you don't want that as a plastic kit, unless your hobby is bashing Revell. I also have seen comments like, why don't they retool, well...maybe it's much more cost effective, to start from scrach, or by baseing it on older Monogram tools (Monte Carlo/Buick GNX) Anyway, we don't know if the boys in Elk Grove are working on one, could be, could be not, sometimes what is concidred hot today, will tank big time tomorrow, (one of the reasons it's a bad idea, to leak info and certainly in the data gathering stage) Remember that Monogram Dodge Diplomat police car, it was canceled in a pre-tooling stage....

Engine packs brainstorm
Luc Janssens replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No pain no gain -
Hey guys... I always wondered why model kit manufacturers, tool and retool the same (basic) engine over and over again, whenever a new subject needs that power plant, thinking it's a waste of valuable resources, which could've been spend in other feasible projects. So my question for you (cuz I'm not that knowledgeable on the matter) is not only, what engines need to be tooled as a stand alone tool, which can either can be used in a kit, or as a parts pack, but also the parts breakdown (please list) including optional (aftermarket) parts to dress it up, or making it not street legal (motor sports) And last but not least please list the cars/trucks they were used in and what color they are..... Let the creativity begin... Thanks!

What wheels (rims) would you like to see included in a Round 2 wheels part pack? The catch to this question is, that they have to be in R2's back catalog (tooled up by Amt, Mpc, Ertl, Lindberg or PL in the past) and you have to list, the kit(s) they came in. Note for the moderators: The question started here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=93300&p=1262095 But think the question deserves a separate topic Thanks!

I wonder if R2 listens ?

Probably we will see a Ford F350, with dual rear wheels from Meng.

Darn, didn't know that, the last paper copy of a Revell catalog, from the merger (Revell-Monogram) up I have, is the 2010 edition, which I got at that year's I-Hobby, I'm also missing the 2007 edition I think. Oh well.... -
New Revell 1/25 2013 Camaro ZL-1 (pre-painted)
Luc Janssens replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm all in favor for pre-painted window fret (mid '80s cars and up) personally I don't care if one isn't considered a "true modeler", when not painting it yourself, I'm all for ease of assembly, getting a nice shelf item, without too much difficulty, is it cheating?!... 95% of model kit buyers, don't care, they just want a pleasant past time.. I applauded back when Amt/Ertl introduced the separate chassis to floorpan on their car kits, which made painting a lot easier. I also like the way dashes are tooled today, a step further would be, including chromed decorated red taillamps for vintage models, I see it on toys so why not on models too. Just my two cents ;^) -
Well it's that or pre-decorated taillites ;^)
-
Maybe the bubble top (roof with windows) is an all clear separate piece. To prevent ejecting problems (read roof caving or breaking) when in production.. Dunno just guessing...

Luc Janssens replied to Brett Barrow's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Looks neat, 'bout the mold lines, removing them at the factory before paint, probably will bump the price up too much. Personally I would add an extra set of wheels to the kit, to give the modeler options, but again that too has a cost factor. Anyway, hope the design of the kit will be the bait to get more novice model kit builders into the game and repeat buyers... -
Amsterdam Model shops
Luc Janssens replied to dublin boy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Never been there but I used to buy a lot from http://www.toms.nl/ when he set up at car shows in Antwerp, a long time ago... it's outside Amsterdam but if you have a car that shouldn't be a problem... -
I think, because in real life everyone wants the HP cars too, most just can't afford them, therefore model kits of cars we wish we had, sell. Same for big rigs, work trucks don't sell, rigs with lots of chrome and or artwork which make you (falsely) believe you're roaming the highways and byways of the US on your way to a new adventure (read avoid having to feed the bears, while putting the hammer down) ;^) .

What did you see on the road today?
Luc Janssens replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
a '70 Chrysler 300, it "looked good" other than that the WS was installed in a sloppy manor and that it's chrome surrounds were missing. It was parked at a 2nd hand car dealer near a address where I had to work..shot some pics, will post .tomorrow. Edit: August 17th, here the pics...
