Panel seperation lines molding?
Luc Janssens replied to jjsipes's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Remember when Hasegawa released a number of high detail auto kits, a Jaguar XJ-S being one of them and one of the first things I noticed was, that the cowl to fender lines were absent...so scribing I went, but didn't do an all too well job of it and the kit, never was finished...think I still have it... -
Gratuitous...? Hell YES! God bless Mopar!

So Dodge gets bought "buy" a European company....hmm Did he mean: So Dodge gets bought, buy a European company, or... So Dodge gets bought by a European company.. ;^) -
That would be more expensive, cuz at that scale, details are omitted or exaggerated, so a lot more retooling has to be done, to get a decent model in scale and then only feasible, as a snapper IMHO. IIRC Monogram at the time, used the body (buck) from their 1/32nd scale snap-tite '69 Charger to tool up the body for their Pro-Modeler kit and it did cost them dearly.... Scaling down I think is easier and in the past I wondered, if for example the Monogram 1/8th scale '80 Trans Am, would be a great start to tool up, an all new 1/25th scale kit of that generation Firebird's.

IMHO a kit of a Tucker, will tank so deep that the manufacturer who kitted it will go into oblivion too, unless its a pre-decorated snapper, then they might survive... Sure they idea maybe had some merit at the time the movie debuted, but still would've been a shelf sitter despite the larger platform the hobby had IMHO a kit of the following items would do much, much better, but then again maybe fraud is involved considering the high numbers :D . http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2734/ http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2732/ And maybe just maybe this one too: http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/3470/

Scan an original kit, re-size it and voila, instant 1/25th scale kit at the fraction of the costs... ;^)
-
Maybe because it's a good size, but he had the media wrong, if he would've done ready made 1/20th scale diecast instead of plastic model kits in the 70s, model kit manufactures probably wouldn't have had the 80s revival...just sayin' ;^)

When my dad and I were involved with Verlinden back in the 70s and 80s, I remember Francois visiting Japan once or twice, meeting Mr. Tamiya (who released a book about Verlinden's models) anyway he told us that the hobby was a national sport/past time there and IIRC back then Japan was already computer game crazy...

A S&H Gran Torino looks do-able if one designs it together with '72 and maybe add a wagon with a drag race option....but the big question is, is the weekend modeler realy waiting for these? http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2592/ http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2893/ W But for arguments sake what could be shared tooling or design wise? Drive train? Chassis and floorplate with engine bay? Buklkhead (Firewall) Gastank? Windshield?

Motor City Masters

Wheeler Dealers (WD) is the show for me, I've watched some of the US series and wonder why they need the drama and those staged rare parts finds, is the US classic car scene full of morons and drama kings? Where on earth do these producers get that idea, from women fighting over a piece of cloth at some big closeout sale? I realy do hope that WD get the highest ratings amongst viewers, so that that format gets used by the US broadcast companies too.... -

I'm certain I'm make spelling and grammar mistakes, when I write on this and other forums. The funny thing is, that when I re-read my message after a few hours, I catch (hopefully ;^) most of them, then I hit the edit button (a great feature to have IMHO) and start crossing the T's and dotting the I's. The point some guys here are making is, is that amongst friends you can be yourself, but when dealing with outsiders, it's best to show your best, to be taken seriously. Just a fact of life... So when in the heat of the moment you're writing an official letter on your pc, save it in your drafts folder first, after an hour or so read it again (or better let someone else read it) edit it and save it again, then the next day when you're ok with it, send it. Just my two cents. -

Remaining parts may be discarded Which to us the lunatic fringe read like; for parts box -
When comparing an original kit, one can see that the body has been worked on, it's not that straight when looking in the wheel-well area, as in that they were in different positions over the years.... One thing which is better executed in this tired old kit then in Revell's '66, is the front clip, which IMHO is less bulky

Will GM's problems ever end?
Luc Janssens replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not only car people cuz then they go bust due to no profit margin, it's a buyers market ya know. No you have to have a good mix, of car people and people who do their best to keep it within the budget. -

Luc Janssens replied to Diesel Jockey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
BTW just read a friend's post on the SH board and he writes that hey have a Kenworth T909 Conventional on the drawing board too. Also he states that the kits will be in 1/25th scale and priced like the Moebius trucks. -
Will GM's problems ever end?
Luc Janssens replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When the decision making process is done by bean counters and corporate politicians, one can expect this kind of thing. I know I used to work for them. We had 5 GM products in the family and we replaced all when they were up for renewal.... 'nuff said.
