France seems like a "grow" market for model kits..... http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/Ausstellungen/Nuernberg2015/Artikel_PR/Revell_Wirtschaftsmeldung_2014.html Maybe like in the US, the majority of European automotive modelers, love to build cars which they saw on the roads in the '50s, 60s and 70s...maybe there's hope for those of us, who like Opel's and Cologne / Dagenham Fords

Great news! Hope this opens the door, to do more more vintage racing kits, like... late '70 early 80s Opel Manta & Ascona 400 late '70s Opel Kadett GT/E ;^) -

What type of "Box Art" do you prefer?
Luc Janssens replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wanna see more of Jairus Watson and Sean Svendsen creations, on the box-tops of US automotive kits! It not only screams buy me, but also fuels the creative mind. ;^) -
Ditto, was there celebrating Christmas/ Welcome Ludwig!

Thanks Tim! I wonder who buys model kits now, walmart and other big box stores have been out of the picture for about a decade now. Production numbers are a far cry, from what they used to be, yet we're seeing subject matter which would've been laughed away 20 years ago and while at a higher production cost per unit, people seem to be willing to pay the premium that comes with it.

Box art and your decision?
Luc Janssens replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This kit has some great box-art, bought it because of it, back in the day. (still remember the full page ads in the German modelkit magazine Modell-Fan) But now in this day and age I always wait for the internet reviews. Still, I think good box-art is useful for the "window shoppers" not so much for the e-commerce consumers. I once asked a representative from a model company, if they could do a test by releasing the same kit with two box-arts and follow which one would perform better, he said the exercise would be to costly. Think now even more then then, because at that time, the big box stores were still selling model kits. Photo courtesy from oldmodelkits.com h http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=21522 -
New Hot Rod Falcon from Trumpeter

I'm glad they pulled out of the automotive segment and glad Moebius stepped up, 'nuff said. -
But maybe has clear headlamps, that would place it one notch above the Lindberg offering

It's all about exposure, these boxes display well at a hobby shop, where the standard sized ones, just get stacked and blend in, with other kits on the shelf. -
Like every year the green light to post this info was given just aft midnite CET (photo's and info courtesy of DPMV) http://www.plastik-modellbau.org/blog/revell-neuheiten-2015/2015/ Some of the highlights in the car and truck category.. And one BIG surprise for the VW T1 fans...

New kits with flaws.
Luc Janssens replied to Dave Metzner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Back to the regular program now... In the past when designing a kit, a tooling model was made in scale 1/10 which was then used, to cut the tooling using a pantograph It's my understanding that they made them that big, because it was easier to detail, but maybe also to detect flaws too. So my question for Dave and others in the know, would it be helpful, that when you order a (mock-up/evaluation/approval) model, generated from the 3D files, to have it made in a bigger scale? -

So parts 206, 207, 208, 211, 212 & 215, on the clear tree for example, are not US spec side marker lights?! Wait 'till the US box kit, is on the store shelves, then buy, lay out the parts and study the instructions, please! -

secundo that Mailed him the link and he says; "that model is my pride and joy. Hope you guys like it" and further..."And there were actually 2 articles about it in SAE. The second was a follow up because so many people wanted to know more details as to how it was done".
