  1. Here's a question for you guys, which might be of interest to Round2.... What wheels (rims) would you like to have as part packs? The catch to this question is, that they have to be in R2's back catalog (tooled up by Amt, Mpc, Ertl, Lindberg or PL in the past) and you have to list, the kit(s) they came in.
  2. Probably we will see a Ford F350, with dual rear wheels from Meng.
  3. Darn, didn't know that, the last paper copy of a Revell catalog, from the merger (Revell-Monogram) up I have, is the 2010 edition, which I got at that year's I-Hobby, I'm also missing the 2007 edition I think. Oh well....
  4. I'm all in favor for pre-painted window fret (mid '80s cars and up) personally I don't care if one isn't considered a "true modeler", when not painting it yourself, I'm all for ease of assembly, getting a nice shelf item, without too much difficulty, is it cheating?!... 95% of model kit buyers, don't care, they just want a pleasant past time.. I applauded back when Amt/Ertl introduced the separate chassis to floorpan on their car kits, which made painting a lot easier. I also like the way dashes are tooled today, a step further would be, including chromed decorated red taillamps for vintage models, I see it on toys so why not on models too. Just my two cents ;^)
  5. Well it's that or pre-decorated taillites ;^)
  6. Maybe the bubble top (roof with windows) is an all clear separate piece. To prevent ejecting problems (read roof caving or breaking) when in production.. Dunno just guessing...
  7. Looks neat, 'bout the mold lines, removing them at the factory before paint, probably will bump the price up too much. Personally I would add an extra set of wheels to the kit, to give the modeler options, but again that too has a cost factor. Anyway, hope the design of the kit will be the bait to get more novice model kit builders into the game and repeat buyers...
  8. Never been there but I used to buy a lot from http://www.toms.nl/ when he set up at car shows in Antwerp, a long time ago... it's outside Amsterdam but if you have a car that shouldn't be a problem...
  9. I think, because in real life everyone wants the HP cars too, most just can't afford them, therefore model kits of cars we wish we had, sell. Same for big rigs, work trucks don't sell, rigs with lots of chrome and or artwork which make you (falsely) believe you're roaming the highways and byways of the US on your way to a new adventure (read avoid having to feed the bears, while putting the hammer down) ;^) .
  10. a '70 Chrysler 300, it "looked good" other than that the WS was installed in a sloppy manor and that it's chrome surrounds were missing. It was parked at a 2nd hand car dealer near a address where I had to work..shot some pics, will post .tomorrow. Edit: August 17th, here the pics...
  11. Yes and no, underhood and interior a big yes, body wise, not so much, why... Due to the "promo like" front clip (bumper/grille/headlamp housing) with missing grille engraving under the headlamp bumperrettes. IMHO they should've done that part in several sections, but overall the kit was a step in the right direction.
  12. Also if something lost shows potential, they can retool from a vintage kit, heck sometimes it's easier then trying to restore an worn out/damaged/corroded tool. An old tool is great to have when you're releasing a limited appeal subject in limited numbers, just enough to satisfy the market and destroy the collectors value LOL
  13. I'm sure the right term for it, is 1/4 window. ;^)
  14. Maybe John can make a template to help modelers, correcting the body contour. Then post it here and send it to the person who will be doing the review for MC magazine so it can be included in the article..... Just thinking out loud....
  15. It's called nostalgia and it seems a pretty strong kinde feeling... And while the tread is successful at digging out, all those wonderful memories, it seems much harder to pinpoint just one model, or rather one that realy pops out uniting the collective mind....but still without a question, a fun read indeed. Do thanks all, for chipping in!
  16. The building in question was never open to the general public, they may have a smaller exhibit at the Renaissance center, but never went there, there was a plan though, to open a large museum for GM's 100th anniversary, but then the biggest crisis in US automotive history happened... Anyway, I will never forget the conservator firing up that red '70 Chevelle SS on display (with a reproduction ad next to it, featuring one tied down with marine style ropes), don't see that happening at a regular museum, not without wearing earplugs and signing off some sort of release waver LOL Also remember that much if not all of the Pinky Randal (sp?) collection was bought, because he had more about Chevy history then GM had...mainly due to them moving Chevy headquarters a lot, meaning that with every move a lot of stuff went into the dumpster, as oppose to divisions like Cadillac or Olds IIRC.
  17. Thanks for the offer, but bought the kit, because wanted to see how well it was engineered and it was priced at $25 so couldn't let it go. That's why I was searching for an original issue with the old style brand name.
  18. I don't know how much funds they will have to sink into it, to turn it back to stock, maybe just maybe, it's more economically viable to use a vintage kit, to tool up a 1/25th scale version and scrap the old tool. Just thinking out loud, no more no less...but sure would like to take a peek on the pre-orders of the "70 AMX
  19. maybe the tool fell from the forklift, when going from storage to production facility Dunno...a million and one things can be the reason...
  20. Remember this one being used by the CHP but in RS configuration, check out the book, Modern Police cars by Robert Genat, ISBN 0-87938-892-7
  21. Revell-Monogram have a sort of tradition, concerning Pace cars, '55 Chevy, '64 Mustang, '69 Camaro, '78 'vette, '79 Mustang, '86 'vette, '93 Camaro, '94 Mustang, '95 'vette...
  22. dunno 'bout you guys but 2015 can't come soon enough for me.
  23. that is the thin line manufacturers walk on, finding the balance, between turning a good profit and the psychological top edge price the impulse buyer is willing to pay for.
  24. Was there in 2005, thanks to a GM buddy in Swartz Creek MI. Since then, we both left GM, all that remains, is a bunch of photo's and fading memories. BTW it was my last grand road trip in the US (was statesside for 5 weeks) and a couple days prior to the secret stash, the Chrysler and Henry Ford Museum, I visited the Corvette plant and museum in Bowling Green and also the B'ham hobby contest.
