How much should model kits cost?
Luc Janssens replied to Bob Ellis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
that is the thin line manufacturers walk on, finding the balance, between turning a good profit and the psychological top edge price the impulse buyer is willing to pay for. -
GM's Secret Stash
Luc Janssens replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Was there in 2005, thanks to a GM buddy in Swartz Creek MI. Since then, we both left GM, all that remains, is a bunch of photo's and fading memories. BTW it was my last grand road trip in the US (was statesside for 5 weeks) and a couple days prior to the secret stash, the Chrysler and Henry Ford Museum, I visited the Corvette plant and museum in Bowling Green and also the B'ham hobby contest. -
"NEW" MPC Dukes of Hazzard kit not what you expected
Luc Janssens replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Don't think the fine people of Round2, or any other model company for that matter, are wasting today's limited funds. Maybe the tool for the glue version is almost toast and they have to cut another one, to satisfy demand, Why a snapper, I've heard numerous times, snappers outsell glue kits (factor?), they're also cheaper to tool, so why not? After-all the bulk of kits, to my knowledge is still sold to the so called "weekend modeler" About the Revell Chargers, IMHO somewhere down the line, they should release it as a street machine, with those turbine wheels...(maybe group all sorts of street machine stuff in a, "one or two tree tool"(*), they can add, to any kit currently in their lineup)) Again just my humble opinion. * Unlike in the past when one kit was one big tool, kits today are a cluster of smaller tools, it makes it easier to add versions, just swap...(engine parts tool, chassis parts tool, interior parts tool, body parts tool, clear parts tool....) Can you imagine if for instance Revell tooled their '69 Charger that way? IMHO we would've had a '68 Coronet and a '70 Charger by now -
A couple of months ago, I was able to purchase an original Jo-Han, 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K Roadster locally and I have to say, that like with their original Turbine car, I'm equally impressed by its design, fine detail and lay-out of that kit, which was tooled up 1964! BTW isn't this car based on the '72-'76 Torino platform/chasis too? Would be a good subject for the low rider crowd (if still popular) hmm hear Kid Frost in the back ground...... -

removed duplicate post -
Revell Germany updated their 'Share your dream" website, now you expand your search in the "ground" section to, 1/24, cars, Oldtimer, youngtimer, modern, utility vehicles, etc...provided that everyone updates their ideas to include those tags. I already did, check it out... http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/ Thanks Luc

Hey Tom, acually I sort of did that, by posting it and other 250K proposals on the Revell Germany "Share your dream" we page. http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2579/ BTW they expanded their search filters, so 1/24th can be sifted out from all other subjects in the ground category. -

Ditto!! Remember in the late 80s sending Revell a A3 format black and white picture of a '72 GTS (Back in the day, around new year, I would sent them a wish list with photo(copy's) and drawings I made. Also remember a movie, in which a red '72 jumped from a riverbank onto a ferry boat (I think it was) And 3rd. the first Jo-Han kit I bought at a store, was the molded in yellow '72 Grand Torino Snapper, and when asking the hobby shop owner for a Jo-han catalog, he looked at me, like I was from Mars, but it started my Jo-Han admiration. ;^) -

It's not in the regular snap-tite lineup, but in the build 'n play, don't think they're gonna contaminate the original concept -

Maybe kids see a police car, not a brand nor model year, for Revell to use this one...maybe the licensing is dirt cheap, dunno just guessing. -

Why, it's a entry level model kit for kids. It's a police car they can build, play with, probably chasing the Mustang... No more no less... -

was about to post the same before I saw yours Brett, and if indeed full glue, most likely, as is a Ranchero (if the same wheelbase) to finance the tooling, but wouldn't mind a wagon either...can't have too many longroofs. http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/5078/ http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2893/ http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/2592/ Anyway, this announcement realy made my day, realy hope ROG adds it to it's 2015 lineup too. More power to big American '70s cruisers, no Pinto's, Gremlins, cavaliers and Omni's for me ;^) A striped tomato, still can't believe it, I'm sure when I awake tomorrow, this tread and all traces on the TH site will be gone LOL -
Here some links to save in your favorites folder, for when it's time to build the kit.... http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/FMC%20Trucks-Vans/1969_Trucks-Vans/1969_Ford_Pickup_Brochure/dirindex.html http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/FMC%20Trucks-Vans/1969_Trucks-Vans/1969_Ford_Truck_Owners_Manual/1969%20Ford%20Truck%20Owners%20Manual%20Pg00%20Front%20Cover.html
