...just a question for the street rodder/ antique car builders on our forum....I recently bought AMT KIT NO. 670/12 2011 issue 1925 model T Ford double kit, and wondered if other versions of the AMT T kits had a better T bucket body compared to this one.....as most of you already know, this one is different one side to the other, hinges and door lines on one side, and not the other. just thought I'd ask, as kits such as these are unfamiliar territory for me, who has always just built drag/ muscle cars generally. I would like to build something using the bucket body, so wondered if you experts in this area could school me.....thanks in advance, boys..........the Ace....

.......the second post in this topic is from a fella that got one and hates it by the sound of it....maybe he'd post pics if you asked him....mines the regular yellow one, and its great, considering I never buy weirdo stuff, but it was just too fun to pass up...the Ace...

.....I have lots of those rare mini boxes....I use them as a mat to blend bottle paint colors, and others to pick my teeth after lunch...lol...lol.....the Ace..

....that's helpful info for all, Craig, and thanks for jumping in on this thread. all of your cars would have been a blast to own. I love full size muscle of all brands....as for the swirl marks....I mentioned earlier that a possible way to retain the aqua plastic on the one version may be to prep out the body to a minimum...then spray it with Tamiya pearl clear.....that may look good and it should hide some of those swirls....just an idea...the Ace...

another good question, Robert....I am not a Pontiac expert so I'm not sure, but I think the air cleaners would have been polished or chrome, but I will look into that when I get the kit and consider building it. mind you, some GM air filter lids on various performance engines in that era were black, so I will post my findings.......the Ace....[[[[[[[[ UPDATE INFO.....yes, the air cleaners and valve covers are chrome, light blue, non metallic engine color, and 4 speed trans ......now, that's an example with the 421 3x2 engine, but that's what our kit depicts as well.........lets get building...lol...the Ace...

so true, it seems the vintage kits either have an automatic with a clutch pedal, or a stick with a brake pedal only...lol....lol...the Ace...
-
that's a good question, John....but yes, 4 speed manual was available as well as the basic 3 speed manual. so, building our kit as it stands is correct, and I would go that way with the 3 deuce carbs myself.....the Ace...

JUST A NOTE TO ALL WHO RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS NEW ISSUE MPC 75 VETTE====after looking mine over on the weekend, I noticed a problem...upon opening my decal sheet, and this sheet was sealed in plastic with the yellow paper cover on top,,,,the entire sheet has been badly compressed by the paper and air tight cello, thus causing all of the print to be badly 'pocked' or fish eyed for lack of a better description. the only way to fix, or if you will, hide this , would be to clear coat over them, but some of us do not always do that . I contacted Round2 this morning, and they are sending me out a new sheet......if you like these, or intend using them on a build at some point, check yours if you haven't done so......maybe I just got a bum sheet, but thought I'd pass this along....the Ace...
-
great review so we can compare and have all the facts on both kits.....IMO, Robert, at what kits cost us now, I think Round 2 owes you a body and steering wheel....I have requested damaged parts a couple of times in the last few months, and they get them right out to you....just a thought.....best,,,the Ace....

thanks to all for your photos and info on both versions of this kit....guess i'll just have to get one of each...lol.......the Ace...

James, hope you don't me asking here, but just to clarify...does the regular box teal version have the green tinted glass too, and are the slicks the old pie crust style, or the blue streaks with just no printing....thanks, want to sure before popping out over 40 bucks up here to grab one.....best, the Ace....
-
Richard, I was thinking about this teal body.....maybe instead of polishing it out, after the prep work is done, this car may be nice with a coat of Tamiya clear,,,followed by a top coat of Tamiya pearl clear. that way if the body has any swirl marks or plastic imperfections, they will most likely be hidden, where polishing it out as you know, will never hide that....just a thought....the Ace...

thanks for that, Kevin....the Ace..

....there is lots of them on ebay right now....both versions....the Ace...
-
Steve, could you tell us more about the tires in this version, and the decals as well.....thanks in advance,,,,the Ace...
-
Richard, the molded- in - teal deal is in the regular box, no tinted glass, and NO slicks. not sure if that one has the test equipment,,,,saw it locally Friday, i'll grab one this week....the Ace.........NOTE--- this has the test equipment as well, and a smaller decal sheet.....
-
I had the flatbox version in hand Friday at my LHS, but grabbed the Der Beetle Bus and 75 Vette instead. my dealer didn't have the regular box version molded in teal, so I would like to see the contents of both before choosing one. will make a great tow car for a drag GTO or Firebird I would say......the Ace....

Pretty much done with resin.
AC Norton replied to cobraman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Harry said it, and that's that. anyone in business has no excuse to retain your money for months on end using the line.......its my sideline business, or whatever..... never bothered with anything resin,,,and never will regardless............the Ace.... -
.....thanks for that info, Christian.......your builds look terrific, and lets hope Round2 will pop out the rest of the set......best, the Ace....

Has Anyone Built This Kit? Quality? MPC 1960 Corvette
AC Norton replied to Quick GMC's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
yeah, we're on the same page....obviously engines, wheels, tires, etc, can be made to fit.....what I wonder is things like the chopped race windshield, interior covers, hood scoop, and if some of the other pieces from the old kits would be easily useable here....but I think we are on the same page...thanks, the Ace.... -
Has Anyone Built This Kit? Quality? MPC 1960 Corvette
AC Norton replied to Quick GMC's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
......well, Richard, then here's the 64 thousand dollar question......the 90s issue body, and I think it has just again been reissued with a fresh wrapper, do you think most if not all of the race, salt flats, whatever goodies from the 60 vette MPC that's again current can be easily fitted to this, the so called newer piece....because that could make a perfect union if possible....I have the oldies 56/57 and the 60,,, but nothing 57 from the 90s issues to compare......thoughts,,,,the Ace.... -
Has Anyone Built This Kit? Quality? MPC 1960 Corvette
AC Norton replied to Quick GMC's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
.....all what Mark mentioned, loaded with parts as the 60 MPC Corvette is as well, great piece for building a Bonneville salts car, or an early sports/ production drag car of various types. most of the goodies are the same from the 60 vette, but there are a few differences. I just got the original 56/57 last week, but have owned a couple thru the years. once I get a camera, I will photo all of the kit, compare it with the new/ old 60 vette to open yet more discussion...lol....best, the Ace.... -
question to you, Christian....what other ones were in this series....I just got the new issue today, love it,,,so if they run the others, what will they be....thanks in advance....the Ace...

yes Ben, just the slicks....lettering is quite large, and the print quality is superb on mine.....best, the Ace...
