Hello all, I had received the Tamiya Aston Martin DBS as a Christmas gift. Just getting around to starting it. I have never built Tamiya before. Questions are has anyone built this kit? What can I expect in the way of issues? What colors would be popular for the car? Any assistance would be appreciated. Sorry if the picture is sideways. Thank you.

Hello all and hope everyone's well. My White Western Star project I had in another post was originally painted in an avocado green with black hood stripes. However that was scrapped when I found too many paint imperfections, and frankly didn't like the way it looked. So into the bath she went. Going for a mid/late 1970's O/O "Leased To" unit look. She is now painted in Gloss Meadow Green, and I changed the sleeper to the Mercury "Hot Box" unit as my original choice of the Transtar 4300 sleeper was scrapped because the hinge pin on the door broke. However while separating the parts the other evening I discovered I am missing both hood hinges, the rear brake cylinders that go into the holes in the wheel backings, and the two rails that glue onto the bottom of the sleeper and raise the sleeper off of the frame. I will have to source those somewhere. Not sure of what livery I will use for her. Suggestions, and commentary is appreciated. Thank you.

Nice job. I like it a lot -
Yes that's her

No the 4070B Transtar II Eagle. The 4070A original molds I believe were made into the molds for the 4070B. In any event I would love to see this reissued. Until then I'll continue to hope.

We need a reissue of the ERTL IH 4070B. That would make a lot of us very happy.

Dave thanks. I was thinking a steel (silver) block, and a black transmission. I will try and source pictures off the web. Have a great day.

Hello all hope everyone’s well. Just a quick question. What color were Winston Cup engines and transmissions back in the mid to late 1990’s. I am building the white Cartoon Network #29 Monte Carlo and could use help. Thanks.

Wow that's an awesome job. So realistic. He's my guy so I'm partial to his examples when I see them. Very nice job indeed. Bravo.

Pete, Wow that's an awesome job and has held up nicely given that amount of time. I am in the process of building a 4300 and may use your example as a reference point if you don't mind. Thanks again for showing this build. -

Hello all. I have a bunch of semi trucks in various stages of completion. So I could use suggestions on how to assemble my old friend...the AMT mirrors. Specifically for the White series cabs (Autocar, Diamond Reo, Road Boss, Western Star). Obviously the mirrors in the K-123 and the IH 4300 are easier to deal with but these AMT multi piece ones drive me nuts. What is the best glue to use for them? Thanks for any help.

Wow very nice job. I like it a lot. -
Brian, Very cool thanks for sharing that tip. I do have one other question not related to the 4300 but rather AMT White Western Star related. How do I get the mirrors to assemble properly? They as I am sure you know very well are a nightmare. What glue should I use. Thanks and by the way very sweet 457. I always had a soft spot in my heart for the old Brockway's.

Thanks for the replies. I have the Testors canopy glue which I will try. I think I'm gonna cut another windshield out of the presentation cover and see if I can get it a teench straighter. Now of course as I think about more aspects of this build I am now stressing about doing the turnable axle and making the heat swage work properly. My problem is I worry too much.
-
Brian yup right down the middle with a slight angle towards the right. I actually taped the two pieces together and used it as a template. Then used the clear cover for presentations for the windshield. Then trimmed it to size. Only question i have now would be what adhesive to use. Good old standard model cement or super glue. Thanks again for the reply.

To all, Good day and hope everyone's well. I just started my AMT IH Transtar 4300 over the weekend. Got the cab, hood, engine, and interior painted. The cab, and hood are Model Master Daytona Yellow lacquer. The engine is Walmart generic brand Fire Red, and Walmart generic brand Flat Black enamels. The interior is Rustoleum Khaki enamel for the door panels, header panel, and floor. The seats, and the dashboard are Krylon Leather Brown enamel. I plan on painting the frame, and the associated parts in Rustoleum Gloss Grass Green enamel. The fuel tanks I am not sure if I will leave them chrome, or remove the chrome and paint them aluminum. In any event I will post pics shortly. Now to the perplexing part. The windshield is mis-molded and didn't fit flush. It was suggested to me to use a hairdryer on a low setting and try to bend it into proper shape. Well that didn't work and it snapped right in half. Therefore at an impasse. Do I try and use the windshield in its current state? Do I try and source a new windshield? Or do I try and substitute maybe clear acetate, or even clear covers that you would bind a report with? I have some of those at home. As always help would be most appreciated. Thank you.
