I love the spoke base for the fan in the shots of the factory... And you're right those kit wheels are great... Feeling your pain on the body paint, it's also my nemesis...

Maybe you are right! So I've gone and bought another model kit. It's OOP, but it's regularly available on ebay at a reasonable price. Probably cheaper than the cost of stripping the current model anyway. So, I've started the prep the new model & will stick to a paint type this time around! I've already started to sand off the moulding joint lines and wiper blades... -
Excellent progress, good luck with the clear coat, that's my nemesis

Great looking kits, enjoy...

Monogram Ferrari GTO 1/24 Scale the 5 year build

This has been sanded back soooo much, it cracked in 2 places, but was repaired and primed with Zero Paints Primer, several coats with sanding in-between It was then sprayed with several light coats of Tamiya Aerosol - I always heat the cans before spraying, and left it 5 to 10 mins between spraying and left it for 4 weeks prior to adding Tamiya Aerosol clear - using the same light coats technique It has, unfortunately crazed... I don't know why. It was immediate. I'm going to try to polish it out, if that doesn't work, i'll probably weather it! this build is quite unlucky... -

Started in the interior, the seats have mega sink marks, and no seat backs the interior sides have no detail at all, and no door cards, so I set about making some. It's probably going to be a black or grey interior with very little detail -
Great build!

I've now sanded and polished out this shell. probably my most successful polish ever. I only burned through in a couple of areas, and it's minor enough not to try to repair. As painted: process was: Tamiya 2000 grit Micromesh 3600 grit: Micromesh 3200 grit: Nuvous Heavy Scratch remover: And then Nuvous Fine Scratch remover: I will detail it, then apply the final clean and wax... -

Thanks Gann, means a lot from you, I've seen your builds! I will be, hopefully this weekend I think it's because I over-sanded the first coat, and when spraying out if the can from Halfords you get a lot of volume, I'm putting it down to experience... 48years, that's amazing! Whist it's not an accurate representation of the car, it's well engineered... -

Body is sprayed in Tamiya Aerosol and Zero 1K 1 light coat & 2 heavy coats I've test fitted the wheels with the body in place and the wheels stick out too mush, I had to cut down the inside of the hubs and shorten the rubber shoes that fit over the spindle that the wheels attach to.
