  1. Casey, did you find those at Model Empire? I spotted a couple of those rims in the wheel box last Sunday. Funny, I've never seen that interior molded in red before - I've had two whole kits and an interior that were all molded in white. I may have a spare set of front buckets and a dash for it; let me know if you need them and I'll go look.
  2. I'd qualify that by saying "the best one in the U.S.A." And probably the only one. So Tulio, what's the market for these like in Brazil? Would this sell for the equivalent of $30k where you are?
  3. Bill, I mean, Bill, have you ever measured the Revellogram '60 roof/glass for fit on any of the old AMT bodies? I'm wondering if it would work on a '59 Pontiac.
  4. Bump... guess I'll be the guinea pig here; ordered a bottle and we'll see what happens.
  5. ^^^ LET'S START WITH THE SMELL THAT COMES WAFTING BACK TO THE DRIVER... Anyhoo, that was the last we saw of the original '58 Edsel. Say what you want about it being primitive, but it got several details right that the new kit messed up (the shape of the rear cove, the curve of the front fender trim, thickness of the taillight bezels, angle of the A-pillars, and the shape of the front wheel wells).
  6. Nope, busy this weekend. Yugoing? Maybe that Maverick/Comet mentioned on another thread?
  7. It would probably be more successful nowadays if they called it a "post-apocalyptic/Mad Max" version!
  8. I sprayed a whole chassis in Tamiya semi-gloss black, masked the frame with Micro Liquid Mask and hit it again with Tamiya Matt Black. Found to my chagrin that the "matt" black was identical to the semi-gloss, so I hit it with a coat of Testor's Flat Black. That worked, but I had a devil of a time removing the liquid mask with two coats of paint on it.
  9. I saved this '61 Continental, whose quarter panels had been hacked down, by splitting it between the doors and at the rockers and adding a '62 rear half. Oddly the backside of the plastic varied in thickness but the outside matched: By going slowly with the trimming and test-fitting about a hundred times, it went together with no filler needed.
  10. Hey Steve, I'm getting the NOS underhood parts for a '64, and I won't need the radiator and its panel - you want 'em, you got 'em.
  11. Not too bad; Tom and I were down at the corner when we got there at about 11:35 AM, and at noon we went straight in. It was all pretty orderly and I didn't get stuck next to anyone who hadn't showered in a year. There must've been about 30 people ahead of us; I can't believe nobody snagged the Dodge and Plymouth first. Upon inspection, the Plymouth does have some sanding damage to the trunk lid trim so I'll have to redo part of it; delicate work but I can manage. I'll scratchbuild the missing taillight pods and add some spare '62 lights to them.
  12. Went to Model Empire's annual sale today: All that 'n' a bag of parts. The '61 Dodge is an X-El reissue; the '61 Fury only needs stock wheelcovers and taillights. The second red 'vert is a '62 Bonneville that appears to have been channeled or sectioned or something; frankly I wanted it for the console and buckets to put in my '62 Catalina. I might swap in the 'Cat's tufted interior and take a whack at restoring this old custom. Best part is I got all of them very cheap - the Fury was highest at $17 (!!) - but prices were kind of all over the map today (a scruffy built Aurora '42 Packard Meat Wagon ambulance was $89, while a nicer built Mod Squad Woody was priced at $7). Oddest parts find: the grille from an ITC '51 Ford Victoria - wish the dash and hubcaps were there; the only other decent parts in that thing. Also grabbed about four Styline '57 Chevy front ends, so when the reissue of the kit comes out, let me know if you need one!
  13. AMT '62 T-bird (the new one). I was just messaging another member the other day about it as a possible replacement to add rear end detail for the '61-'65 AMT Continentals.
  14. I've seen Alumilite has a product called AlumiUV that is a clear UV-cured resin; has anyone had experience with it? Most importantly, does it cure with the same UV light that comes with Bondic, or a UV flashlight? I notice the AlumiUV is around $20 for a 4-ounce bottle which is a way better deal than either Bondic or Lazer Bond by volume. Over to the experts... thanks as always.
  15. Niiiice! Did the same thing to my '61 Comet and '60 Chrysler (used a '62 chassis under that one). Really adds a lot to the look. Will you be dressing up the lower A-arms too?
  16. Well this was weird. If you've seen my Wanted listing, you know I needed the firewall for my '63 Bonneville. A set of underhood parts came up on the 'Bay and I went for them - but a bidding war started and I was left in the dust. Then I checked the seller's other listings and noticed he had the same set for a '64; only difference seems to be they added a separate radiator wall. Got the only bid in and won it for less than a fourth of what the '63 bits went for, and got the top boot as well . Now for that left taillight... Off to Model Empire with Feretzrus (Tom) tomorrow; if you see me in my Tulsarama t-shirt, say hi!
  17. Juha and Tapani would be my choice to take over Modelhaus, from a quality standpoint.
  18. Santa baby, I want a Buddy L Texaco... You know With all accessories shown Santa baby... hurry down my chimney tonight! Thank goodness I have (or have had) pretty much every car kit I want. Between my blueprints and the MRC kit I could scratchbuild one, but it would still be fun to have the original.
  19. Good luck - they only had this one in Deerfield; the Schaumburg store only had one Winnebago. At least with the coupon you'll get it for under $20 plus tax.
  20. Picked up this Greenlight diecast Shasta trailer at HL yesterday; since I can't leave well enough alone I added a set of '57 Plymouth-style cone wheelcovers from the parts box over the modern wheels: Now for an appropriate wagon to tow it: (The owner's in the office picking out side mirrors, OK? )
  21. Terrific job, Matt! Great play on words for the name, too - and I love that that rich deep purple.
  22. Nice surprise to see this little truck again! Hasegawa produced this truck much earlier than the 1987 copyright; I bought one in the late 1970s to kitbash into this: '36 Ford bus in U.S. Army colors. I used the front clip and wheels from the fuel truck and modified the grille to taper like a Ford; the rest was a widened and heightened Mini-Lindy school bus body. It was intended to be a background miniature for my Pearl Harbor movie project that never got made other than the models. No real detail underneath but you can see how it was done: The truck itself is a nice little kit; you could scratchbuild a cab and make other conversions with it.
  23. Anthony, will this be a reverse engineered version of the Jo-Han kit? The proportions of its body were so good I don't see how they could be improved. Updated chassis of course, but otherwise if it ain't broke...
  24. Great little weekend toy for that "midlife crisis on a budget". Now let's see someone do it with the Monogram Bugatti!
